Chapter 42

Phineas Nigellus Black

An angry woman is not only scary, but she also acts very quickly and is impossible to stop; she's harder to catch than a pig during the Lunar New Year.

Bassheda Bablin turned and stormed out of the lounge, her angry demeanor more terrifying than a fire dragon.

Behind her was Paul Bernard, who seemed to be half-heartedly agreeing, and Belvina Black, whose motives were unclear.

Although both were wearing ladylike skirt suits, Belvina, with her arms crossed and swaying, somehow managed to exude the air of a street hustler.

However, when the furious Bassheda arrived on the eighth floor and stood in front of the dripping beast statue, she was dumbfounded. What was the password for the principal's office again?

Toffee apples?

Sour popping candy?

Or is it Zizi Honey?

The three elective course professors weren't the type to run to the principal's office all the time, and Belvina was even more inclined to stay as far away as possible, so it was normal for her to forget the password for a moment.

Just as the three were staring blankly at the stone statue, the dripping stone beast suddenly came to life. It jumped to the side, revealing the spiral staircase hidden behind it.

The three elective course professors looked at each other, then climbed the spiral staircase one after another, arriving at the oak door at the top.

Squeak.

Like the guardian stone beast with dripping spouts, the door to the principal's office opened automatically.

Enraged, Bassheda first knocked politely on the door, then pushed it open and entered the round room without waiting for the principal's permission.

"I was wondering when you would come looking for me?" Dumbledore said with a smile, sitting behind a huge table, showing no resentment towards Bathsheda for her rudeness.

As Dumbledore said, he had long anticipated this day, it was just a matter of time.

However, what happened today was slightly different from what Dumbledore had expected. He thought it would be Belvina who opened the door, not the usually quiet and unassuming Bathsheda.

Belvina's arrival seemed to have awakened the restlessness in Bassheda's bones, making the once inconspicuous professor more active.

"Professor Dumbledore, I think we need to have a serious talk, otherwise I'll be stuck in this lousy class all day—"

Before the furious Professor Bablin could even begin to question him, an annoying voice suddenly rang out in the principal's office.

The figure of Phineas Nigellus Black, hanging on the wall, roared angrily, shouting, "Belvina Black, you get over here and kneel down!"

Before the questioning of Headmaster Dumbledore could even begin, Belvina was already in serious trouble.

Everyone looked at Belvina. Dumbledore was still smiling. Basilda had temporarily calmed her anger. Professor Paul... was examining the silverware in the headmaster's office, his eyes glued to it.

Even the portraits of past principals looked over, and Delis de Winter stared at Belvina with intense interest, her gaze as intense as if she were looking at a cadaver.

"Phineas, it's been a long time!" Belvina said with a smile. "Seeing you so energetic makes me, as your descendant, feel truly at ease!"

One shouldn't hit a smiling face, so try to avoid Principal Blake's anger by being cheeky and cheeky.

"They're here to see the current principal, Phineas, shut up!" Armando Dipette jumped out from the portrait.

But Principal Blake wouldn't back down today. He shouted, "I'm disciplining my great-granddaughter! This is none of your business, Dippert!"

The way the old headmaster, Blake, was jumping up and down and cursing was utterly devoid of any elegance or nobility; he was even more shrewish than a shrew.

"Belvina Black, you unfilial descendant, how dare you—how dare you…" Phineas seemed reluctant to reveal the name of the Muggle Studies Department, "If I were still alive, I would burn your name off the tapestry!"

It's worth noting that Phineas's second son, Phineas, was excommunicated for supporting Muggle rights. And this was his own son, let alone his great-granddaughter, Belvina.

All Black family members who were associated with Muggles had their names burned on the tapestry. Alphad's name was burned by Walbug simply because he sponsored Sirius Black, who had run away from home.

More than two months have passed since the start of the school year, but Belvina's name is still on the tapestry in Place Grimoire.

There are two reasons for this outcome: firstly, the remaining Blakes did not want to do it, and secondly, they dared not do it.

Once Belvina is removed from the family name, she will still be Belvina, but the Black family will have nothing left.

Cassiopeia is old and doesn't seem to have much time left; Signas has been bedridden for years and may not outlive Cassiopeia; Alaminta Melifren is useless and is confined to her home because of her violent views towards Muggles; Narcissa is already married and has taken on the look of Malfoy.

Since 1985, the Black family has survived entirely thanks to Belvina Wolbuga Black, who has shown the wizarding community that the noble and oldest Black family still exists.

"Belvina Black, you'd better get over here right now!" Phineas continued to yell. "You think you're safe just because you're far away? You think I can't catch you unless you show up in the principal's office?"

It sounded like Phineas was venting his anger on his unfilial son, but there was something strange about it. It was more like he was telling Belvina to get out of the principal's office and never show her face again, so he could pretend nothing had happened.

Belvina didn't speak, nor did she choose to leave; instead, she stared intently at Dumbledore.

Dumbledore, who was picking out candy, awkwardly withdrew his hand. The faculty and staff he had recruited were being angrily cursed by his long-dead ancestor, and it was indeed a bit unethical for him, the headmaster, to be looking for candy.

"Phineas, Phineas, haven't we already discussed this?" Dumbledore said. "Professor Black, your great-granddaughter, whom I brought to Hogwarts. You can take your temper out on me, Phineas."

Phineas had a history of throwing tantrums at the current principal, and the consequence was that he was ganged up on by the other principals.

Phineas Nigellus Black could choose not to make things difficult for Belvina, nor could he make things difficult for Dumbledore; he could do nothing at all, but his attitude had to be appropriate.

The two, one old and one young, both from Blake, completed a perfectly coordinated operation without any prior communication.

"You think I wouldn't dare! You think I wouldn't dare!"

Phineas was still throwing a tantrum, but this time his target was the current headmaster, Dumbledore, and his adversary was now the former headmasters whose names were also displayed on the wall.

Belvina, who remained silent, looked at the portrait of her ancestor, at the annoying old man arguing with the crowd, and at the annoying old man's furtive glances. She knew perfectly well that Phineas was actually helping her.

This is what Slytherin should be like in Belvina's mind.

"Alright, now we can talk about what happened between us." Dumbledore waved his hand, and the surroundings instantly fell silent, the battle between the headmasters of all ages turning into a silent film.

By this time, Bassheda was no longer so engrossed, and at the same time, she felt that now was not a good time to discuss Dumbledore's secret treasure.

Bassheda glanced at Belvina, wanting to know her attitude: should we call it a day and talk about it next time?

"Please sit down, my dear professors, and Paul as well. If you really like them, you can take them back and study them carefully later," Dumbledore continued. "I have many similar alchemical items here."

It seems Dumbledore doesn't intend to postpone the matter.

The three of them found seats in the elective course. Bassheda was thinking about how to start the conversation, Belvina was openly sizing up Dumbledore, and Paul was holding a piece of silverware with obvious delight.

"I know why you've come; you've come because of the new regulations this year," Dumbledore said, as he always seemed to be, confident in everything.

"That's right, that's exactly what we're here for." Bassheda didn't beat around the bush. "It's not fair! We're the only ones who know nothing—nothing about what you hid on the fourth floor of the castle, nothing about why Hagrid's Cerberus was there!"

Dumbledore nodded slowly, then continued, "Belvina, what are your thoughts? Do they align with Bassheda's?"
