Chapter 61

Rebirth from the Ashes

Fiendfire is an extremely powerful form of dark magic; it grows stronger the more it consumes.

This demonic fire can mimic the forms of monsters, relentlessly hunting down anything that can burn until it is completely consumed.

At the same time, Fiendfire is a very difficult magic to control. Wizards who are not skilled enough may endanger themselves by using it, or even become nourishment for the Fiendfire.

Belvina dared to use Fiendfire against the locket because of its unparalleled destructive power; it was enough to break through the protective magic on the locket and deliver a fatal blow.

Secondly, Belvina is confident in controlling Fiendfire and will not be harmed by the backlash of dark magic. Don't forget that she is the youngest daughter of the Black family. Even if she is not known for her skill in dark magic, her understanding of it far surpasses that of ordinary people.

Only then did Belvina dare to use Fiendfire to burn the strange locket.

The Fiendfire was surprisingly effective, not only burning away the magic protecting the locket but also incinerating the fragments of Voldemort's soul that were hiding within.

When the dust settled, Belvina's acacia wand glowed with golden light, and she extinguished the raging Fiendfire with a counter-spell. Under the ravages of dark magic, the withered forest had long since turned to ashes, unrecognizable from its original state.

The egg-sized locket fell to the ground, covered in black ash.

When Belvina approached the locket again, the familiar sense of danger was gone, as were the ominous and unclean feelings.

Somewhat surprisingly, a sense of intimacy emanated from the locket, as if a part of oneself was inside it.

Suddenly, a pure white, hazy point of light floated out from the wreckage of the locket. Without any pull, the point of light drifted towards Belvina and entered her body.

Belvina stared in disbelief at the scene, watching the ball of light slowly merge into her. She felt no discomfort whatsoever; on the contrary, she felt exceptionally comfortable.

The comfort is hard to describe in words. It's like a complete package of bathing, scrubbing, and sauna, followed by a leisurely stroll upstairs. It's just—it's hard to describe that feeling of comfort from head to toe.

In a daze, Belvina even felt that she was the complete self at this moment, the real self.

"Miss Belvina! Miss Belvina!" the house-elf's voice rang out from nearby. "Kreacher saw that demonic fire, and Kreacher cannot pass through it!"

"I'm fine, Kreacher, I feel perfectly fine," Belvina said. "I've taken care of the locket."

The house-elf Kreacher stumbled over, first staring at Belvina, and only after seeing that his mistress was unharmed did he turn his gaze to the burned locket.

The small locket was charred black and its original shape was no longer recognizable. The ornate letter "S" was twisted, the emerald gemstone was nowhere to be found, and the locket no longer glowed with a dim light.

Kreacher's tennis ball-sized eyes instantly filled with tears, which spilled over a second later. He was crying because the young mistress was safe and sound, and because young master Regulus's dying wish had finally been fulfilled—the locket had been destroyed.

Belvina did not disturb Kreacher, who was weeping uncontrollably. She gazed at the distant lights and fell into deep thought.

Her connection to the locket and to Voldemort was severed at this moment. The cause of the connection between the three is unknown, and she only has a conjecture that is destined to be unverifiable.

In 1979, the original Belvina lost her life under the seduction and enticement of the locket, and her dissipated soul was used by the locket as nourishment to strengthen itself.

Just then, the transmigrator who had usurped the place arrived and began to fight with the locket for the original Belvina's soul. He successfully defeated the locket and obtained most of Belvina's soul.

Then, the transmigrator and the remnant soul of Belvina interacted and merged, eventually forming the current Belvina with the transmigrator as the main body, just like a glass of 7UP being poured into a 2L bottle of Sprite, you are in me and I am in you.

However, the new Belvina, with the transmigrator as the main body, is likely not complete; the brand-new soul may have voids or cracks.

This deficiency is imperceptible and does not affect normal life because the newly merged soul is very strong. However, once it encounters the culprit that caused the soul deficiency—Voldemort—the fear from the soul level will be amplified infinitely, and the body dominated by fear will lose the courage to resist.

Tonight, Belvina's soul became whole; her soul was no longer flawed, and her soul-deep fear of Voldemort ceased to exist.

This was Belvina's speculation, perhaps far-fetched, but it was the only possibility she could think of. Magic, soul, and life—these three were all extremely mysterious, beyond Belvina's comprehension given her limited knowledge.

Belvina raised her left hand to her eyes, clenched her fist, then released it. She then raised her wand, and a shattering spell shot out, blasting a huge crater in the ground.

There was no "ascension" as she had imagined, and she still couldn't dominate the heavens, the earth, or even the air. All the swear words she had learned in her life kept churning in her chest.

"Have you cried enough? If you have, we'll go back," Belvina said. "Oh, I'm sorry, Regulus's relics are completely destroyed. If you like them, you can take them."

Kreacher carefully picked up the locket, holding it in his hands as if it were a priceless treasure, looking at it with the same gaze he had when he looked at Regulus.

"Alright, you'll have plenty of time to cry when you get back," Belvina continued. "Do you think I don't know you secretly kissed your mother's old dress, or that you hid in the cupboard crying while hugging your father's old pants?"

Kreacher carefully put away the tattered locket, then wiped away his tears with his fist like a child before going over to take Belvina's hand.

"Please forgive my overstepping, Miss Belvina."

With that, Belvina and the house-elf vanished, leaving behind only a devastated empty space, which hopefully Muggles won't see.

When Belvina felt herself crawling out of the narrow rubber tube, she was back at number twelve Grimaud Place, back in Regulus's room, where no unauthorized entry was permitted.

Number Twelve Grimmauld Place was enchanted with many protective spells, including Muggle banishment and Muggle interference spells, as well as the most common anti-Apparition spell, which is why Belvina had to rely on the magic of house-elves.

"Would you like a midnight snack prepared for you, Miss Belvina?" Kreacher asked, the house-elf remembering Belvina's casual mention of a midnight snack.

"Sandwiches and hot milk, thank you," Belvina said. "Take them to Sirius's bedroom; I need to go check on him."

Belvina plans to visit her other brother's room. Sirius and Regulus are both brothers. Will Sirius leave behind a huge surprise or a shock?

Sirius's room was on the same floor, next to Regulus's room.

This bedroom was more spacious than Regulus's room, with a large bed with carved headboards, long velvet curtains covering the high windows, and chandeliers hanging down.

Compared to Regulus's clean and tidy room, Sirius's room, while not so dirty that mice were running around, still showed the house-elves' favoritism; Kreacher clearly didn't want to clean the young master's bedroom.

Compared to the rest of Number Twelve Grimmauld Place, Sirius's room was completely out of place, not even in the same style.

The silver-gray satin walls were barely visible, covered by large swaths of gold and red. Several large, faded Gryffindor flags hung on the walls, along with many pictures of Muggle motorcycles and even a few pictures of Muggle girls in bikinis.

Looking at the room's unique decor, Belvina smiled. She could imagine how much Sirius must have laughed while tinkering with the bedroom.

Belvina paced around the bedroom again, and an immature plan popped into her mind.

When summer comes, perhaps it's time to visit Azkaban.
