Chapter 3

Gwen and Peter, a mutual unrequited love

After that little incident, the Parker brothers returned to their classroom and, as usual, completed their studies for the day.

It's worth mentioning that, unlike the Chinese education system that often puts students through non-stop work, students at Midtown High School can generally go home at 2:30 PM. At most, due to class schedules, they might be dismissed as late as 3:30 PM.

So, when the Parker brothers walked out of school with their backpacks as the school bell rang, they still had plenty of free time to do as they pleased.

That's why, as you leave the campus, all you see are smiling young people. They walk in twos and threes, discussing where to go next.

Among them, like a walking scenic view, the blonde beauty whose figure has developed to near maturity, even in a school uniform, cannot hide her curvaceous and graceful figure, is undoubtedly the focus of attention.

Gwen Stacy, the most beautiful girl in Midtown High School.

Logically speaking, such a beautiful woman would surely attract the attention of lecherous men who would use all sorts of means to try and win her favor.

But Gwen was someone no one dared to mess with at Midtown High School.

The reason for this, besides the fact that her father is the police commissioner of New York City, which is enough to deter petty criminals...

An even more important reason...

promise.

Gwen merely glanced around before flashing a charming smile.

He then jogged along, passing through the crowd under the envious gazes of others, and headed straight for the Parker brothers.

She brushed a stray hair behind her ear, tidied her appearance, and then took the initiative to greet everyone.

"Hey boys, what's the plan now?"

By now, you've probably guessed it.

That's right, just as mentioned before, when Riley was casually dealing with school problems, he happened to stand up for Gwen, who was being harassed by delinquents, and made the delinquents promise never to bother Gwen again.

What was originally an insignificant little matter, however, was described by the students in increasingly outrageous ways, and it turned into Riley being lustful and setting his sights on Gwen's beauty.

In this way, since Gwen has already tacitly accepted that she is taken and given the title of "sister-in-law," no matter how much others covet Gwen's beauty, they will choose to back down due to the vast difference in power and the gradual revelation of Gwen's background.

Of course, because of this rumor, Riley was soon approached by George Stacy, who doted on his daughter.

However, after understanding Riley's actions and realizing, as someone with experience, that Riley had no romantic feelings for Gwen, the relationship between George and Riley quickly improved.

Furthermore, Riley's righteous indignation and his understanding of George's hardships stemmed from his past life as a police officer. George greatly admired Riley and wished he could adopt him as his godson. He even promised that after graduating from Midtown High School, if Riley was interested, he could recommend him to the police academy to further develop his talents.

In this way, after personally contacting Riley and confirming Riley's thoughts and character, and realizing that he had no worries about his home being raided, the old father was completely at ease and tacitly approved of Gwen's friendship with the Parker brothers.

To everyone's surprise, Riley genuinely had no feelings for Gwen...

But Peter is different!

At the entrance ceremony, that fleeting glance was enough to make Peter fall hopelessly in love with Gwen, as if struck by Cupid.

Even Peter's computer screensaver uses a picture of Gwen.

Yes, of course, it's the kind of footage taken at campus events and published publicly, so it's legal and legitimate.

Unfortunately, Peter, being a typical STEM guy, was not good at expressing his feelings and had no idea how to get along with girls.

In addition, increasingly outrageous rumors circulating at school led Peter to mistakenly believe that Gwen's crush was actually Riley.

Then, in his heart, Peter silently compared himself with Riley and found that, apart from academic performance, Riley was superior in every way. This inevitably made Peter feel pessimistic and he dared not express his feelings to Gwen.

So much so that in the beginning, even though they were in the same class, and even by a twist of fate, they were still deskmates. Peter and Gwen remained like two parallel lines that would never intersect, with no interaction whatsoever.

It was completely unimaginable that Peter had already unknowingly captured Gwen's heart because of his top-of-the-line exam score and the composure and confidence he exuded when answering questions in class!

It's fair to say that this destined couple is currently in a mutual, unrequited love relationship. They're just waiting for the right moment to break through this fragile barrier and let their feelings quickly intensify!

In this situation, Officer George's actions were undoubtedly like sending a lamb to the slaughter, personally handing his daughter over to his future son-in-law!

Even now, when Riley sees Gwen, who realized something first, suppressing her girlish shyness and pretending to be calm, frequently taking the initiative to tease Peter for fun, and the beautiful scene full of youthful romance, he will remember the relieved expression on Officer George's face when they had a heart-to-heart talk.

When the innocent Peter, who was no match for Gwen, turned red in the face and looked at Riley with a pleading look, completely at a loss for what to do.

Riley couldn't help but chuckle, a playful smile spreading across his face.

Riley: "Pfft... Hahaha!"

Peter, enraged, yelled, "Railley! Are you even my brother anymore?! Not only will you not help me, but you're making fun of me!"

Riley [in a serious tone]: "No, no, I wasn't laughing at you, I was just thinking about something happy..."

Gwen [her ears also turned red, but she feigned composure, using a retreat-to-advance strategy to continue provoking the clueless blockhead in front of her]: "Hmm, what's wrong, Peter? Don't you like being with me? That's really sad..."

Peter, [afraid Gwen would misunderstand, completely lost his composure, not even knowing where to put his hands, gesturing wildly in front of him]: "Hey, hey, hey? No, that's not what I meant, I meant... uh... um... I..."

Riley [police officer laughing.jpg]: "Hahahaha!"

Peter [possessed by a certain supernatural being.jpg]: "Rieley! You're laughing again!"

Riley: [Police calm.jpg] "No, you must have misheard. I've been professionally trained not to laugh, no matter how funny it is."

Peter [Exasperated - Super Version.jpg]: "You're clearly making fun of me! I heard you!"

And so, amidst their bickering, the three of them arrived at the foot of the Osborn building.

Of course, as a technology company that requires a high degree of confidentiality, Osborne has always been very strict in controlling visits from outsiders.

In this situation, Peter, who was personally invited by Dr. Connors, and Gwen, who worked part-time at Osborn in her spare time due to her excellent academic performance and her father's connections, could naturally move around without any obstacles.

On the contrary, if Riley wanted to go in with Peter, he would definitely be ruthlessly turned away by security personnel, thus missing the crucial moment he had been waiting for for over a decade.
