Chapter 72

Black Braised Eggs VS Boiled Eggs

"Haha, relax, relax. With your brother's protective nature, he'd be worried sick if he knew you were being bullied by so many people. He wouldn't blame you at all. If you really want to talk about it, they should be worried about whether they'll get a 'warm welcome' from Riley."

Fortunately, after the initial euphoria, Harry gradually calmed down and realized that this was not the right occasion for him to playfully bicker with his best friend.

Then he nodded to Peter, and they exchanged a glance.

The nanomachines extended again, and Harry, now reassembling a pair of goggles, activated the thermal imaging scan, locking onto several uninvited guests from the shadows not far away. His tone turned icy as he brandished the pumpkin bomb in his hand and shouted without any politeness.

"Alright, you lot hiding in the shadows, you've had your fill of the show, haven't you? I shouldn't need to lift a finger to scare you all out, right?"

"Go ahead and try, kid. If you dare throw it, Agent Clinton can blow it up instantly. You'll be the one who suffers the most."

Faced with Harry's threat, knowing that Harry must use some kind of technology to find his hiding place, a smooth, one-eyed black egg, wearing a thick leather coat, walked out unhurriedly with his hands in his pockets.

His gaze then swept across the entire room until it settled on Peter, who was now dressed in his battle suit.

Black Lu Dan then pulled out one hand, rubbed his bald head with obvious displeasure, and grumbled.

"But I'm really a bit surprised... I never expected that the vigilante with superpowers that's been all over New York City lately would actually just be a kid? Holy crap, this isn't how it was planned! This makes me look like the villain!"

"Hey, I'm telling you, are you all ever going to stop?! Are you really treating me like I don't exist?!"

Of course, with one annoying person after another appearing and ignoring him completely, Tru, who was already eager to settle scores with Peter, visibly flushed red.

Then he looked around, taking in Harry in his high-tech gear, Dr. Connors transformed into a lizard, and Peter in his battle suit, in peak combat condition...

Following the principle of picking on the weak, Tru didn't hesitate to shift his target to the black braised egg in front of him, which seemed to pose the least threat, aside from its arrogance and boastfulness, and viciously pounced on it.

The next second, before Tru could even touch the hem of Black Egg's clothes, a sharp pain shot through the back of his neck.

Immediately afterward, a powerful electric current swept through Tru's entire body. Tru, whose physical resistance and health were already at maximum, and who hadn't yet been cleansed of his past misdeeds, become his apprentice, or even level up his magic resistance, simply rolled his eyes back and collapsed heavily to the ground. As drool uncontrollably dripped from the corner of his mouth, he began to enjoy a peaceful, infant-like sleep.

"Hey, I warned you guys a long time ago, can't you just listen to what I'm saying?"

Meanwhile, Black Lu Dan, who had been standing leisurely in place all along and had long anticipated this scene, only started searching inside his coat after seeing Tru fall down. He pulled out special handcuffs prepared for such big guys and prepared to further control Tru.

Before Hei Ludan could even make a move, several ninja soldiers jumped up in unison. Right in front of Hei Ludan, they carried the unconscious Tru and disappeared into the shadows on the ground.

Seeing their leader, Toru, fall, the other ninja soldiers also lost their will to fight. In the same way, they transformed into moving shadows and quickly withdrew from the battlefield.

This put the previously confident Black Lu Dan in an awkward position.

So when Blackie felt humiliated by Peter and the others' amused, "You can't do it either?" look, he couldn't help but quip and complain irritably.

"Holy crap! How can a living person fit inside a shadow? Is that even scientifically possible?! Is that even plausible?! That's why I hate magic and stuff like that... It's completely illogical! It shouldn't even exist in this world!"

Fortunately, for Black Egg, the existence of the Black Hand Gang was clearly less appealing than that of Peter and his two companions.

As long as we can bring them back, the trip will have been worthwhile.

"Hey, this place is really lively tonight. Is it a party? I didn't get an invitation, but I think you guys won't mind if I come, right?"

But just as Black Egg stepped forward, Hawkeye, lurking in the shadows, once again drew his bow to its fullest extent, aiming at Peter, the greatest threat. The situation, so quiet and sudden, became tense, as if a fight could break out at any moment…

Also dressed in a leather coat, Boiled Egg... oops, I mean Sheriff Black, suddenly drove into the center of the two groups in that inconspicuous van.

He then opened the car door, revealing a gleaming bald head, and led a large group of fully armed agents out of the vehicle, blocking the Black Egg's path.

Although Sheriff Black, at this point, hadn't yet turned himself into a frog by learning his father's magic and personally experienced its power, he remained a staunch materialist, disbelieving in the existence of magic. He believed everything he saw—including Riley demonstrating the power of the chicken charm—was a scientific illusion.

But in order to engage in a moral debate with the man before him—Nick Fury, the public head of S.H.I.E.L.D.—Inspector Black produced the special law enforcement credentials he had obtained overnight after sending Riley home, and waved them in front of Nick Fury.

"Because magic is so special, the affairs of the Mafia are not your concern, but rather fall under my jurisdiction, old friend. It's just a pity that the current situation doesn't seem to be the right time to sit down and have a leisurely chat... If you don't mind, I have to take my agents, who you outsiders call Spider-Man, and these two back to Section 13."

"Black? I never expected that Section 13 would dare to interfere in S.H.I.E.L.D.'s affairs."

Even so, Nick Fury, who is used to being domineering, would not let Sheriff Black take Peter and the others away so easily.

Even though the opposing side appeared to have a large number of people, Nick Fury remained unfazed, displaying a calm and collected demeanor, as if saying, "Let them be strong, I'll just let the breeze caress the mountain."

"What if I said I wouldn't give you that face today?"

No sooner had he finished speaking than a large group of agents sprang out of the shadows without Nick Fury making any move.

Among this group, besides Hawkeye and Black Widow, who will soon join the Avengers and become the original Avengers, standing at the forefront of the team and leading this combat squad.

Upon learning that the operation might require dealing with a large number of lizardmen, Nick Fury even brought in several armored vehicles.

Clearly, Nick Fury was also worried that General Ross's experiment would lead to a lizardman infestation, ultimately causing a real-life biohazard crisis in New York City.

This is not surprising, given that the head of S.H.I.E.L.D. would personally guard the outer perimeter of this secret laboratory.

"Of course you don't have to give me face, but believe me, old friend, I'm doing this entirely to help you."

In an instant, the situation reversed, and Sheriff Blake and his men were once again at a disadvantage.

Despite this, Sheriff Black showed not a trace of panic.

Instead, he took out his phone, fiddled with it for a bit, and then showed Nick Fury a picture of Riley—or rather, the black Spider-Man—working with Hulk to beat up Super Abomination on another battlefield.

"If anything happens to this child... you will be provoking a terrible demon that you absolutely do not want to face. Believe me, you definitely don't want to be targeted by him. I'm doing this all to help you."
