Chapter 13
Ibrahimovic's Sorrow
The leisurely afternoon slipped away quietly. After the researchers who were taking care of the baby Pokémon left, the awakened Eevee opened its eyes, quietly walked to the courtyard wall, bent its limbs slightly, and leaped over the three-meter-high wall. Its soft paw pads made the grass outside the courtyard bow down to it.
Some Eevee creatures are destined not to be caged; every single one of their feathers shines with the light of freedom.
Ibu bypassed the surveillance cameras around the research institute, and with elegant cat-like steps, she walked around the bushes and arrived at the entrance of the institute. She cleared a patch of ground with her fluffy tail, sat upright at the entrance with her head held high, and her tail kept wagging slightly.
At this moment, her mind was filled with the image of her trainer. During the lunch break earlier, she had secretly run out and retrieved the clothes that she had torn off her trainer, hiding them in a place where only she could find them.
Ibu felt she would never forget that warm, sun-like scent.
Although she and her trainer had just had a disagreement, and after thinking it over, she had to admit that she was in the wrong first, so she decided to give her trainer a chance to forgive her.
When the trainer comes out, she will show off the dance she learned from the other Eevee in the breeding house. Although she has only practiced for two hours, if the trainer is not satisfied, she will also perform a backflip.
At that time, as long as the trainer is willing to hug her, she will mercifully become the trainer's first partner.
Just kidding. I'd still be willing to hug you even if you didn't.
Here it comes!
As the familiar scent drew closer, Eevee's tail wagged even faster, her heart pounding. She lowered her head, her nervous front paws pressing one paw print after another into the grass in front of the door.
The laboratory doors slid to the sides, and Eevee looked up. The person I had been longing for was right in front of me, and Eevee excitedly raised its paw.
Sigh, should we step forward with our front paws first or our hind paws first?
Ibrahimovic was so nervous that his mind went blank. He flailed his limbs and then his body went out of control and ran to the left, crashing headfirst into the grass in the distance.
Oh no, I messed up.
Eevee lowered its tail dejectedly, too ashamed to pull its head out of the grass for the moment.
Just as Ibu was contemplating whether to hang herself at the institute's entrance the next day, she felt a familiar large hand support her body, and another hand went through the downy hair on her neck to protect her head, pulling her out of the bushes.
"Where is it hurt?" Wei Xin carefully lifted Eevee up and saw that Eevee's limbs were hanging limply, its tail was dangling like a rabbit's, and there were tears welling up in its eyes.
I want to show my best side, so why am I so stupid?
"Don't cry, don't cry, the pain will all fly away." Holding Eevee in his arms, Wei Xin gently stroked her body to comfort the poor little Eevee, while parting her fur to check for any hidden ailments.
Fortunately, there were no wounds; perhaps the brain was accidentally injured?
Trainers are definitely the best.
Eevee buried her head in Wei Xin's arms, her little black nose twitching as she greedily inhaled her trainer's scent. Just as Wei Xin was considering whether to take her to see the professor for a full check-up, Eevee's gaze fell on his waist.
There hangs a Poké Ball there, unlike other leagues where anyone, whether child or adult, good or bad, can possess an unlimited number of Pokémon as long as they have the means.
The Eastern Alliance has very strict regulations on individuals owning Pokémon, as these are wondrous creatures with special abilities, and if they go berserk, the harm they cause can far exceed that of firearms and ammunition.
Therefore, trainers are only allowed to obtain the next Pokémon after registering and undergoing a review process with their Pokémon.
"Buyi~"
"It's the trainer's Poké Ball," Eevee exclaimed, her ears perking up. Once inside, it would be a done deal, and she could stay with the trainer forever. The trainer wouldn't even have a chance to abandon her.
Eevee stretched out its short, brown legs, extended its claws, and desperately tried to hook the Poké Ball at his waist.
Just as they were about to make contact, the Poké Ball suddenly bounced away automatically.
"Ralu~"
Ralts stood on the ground, hands on her hips, and stomped her foot angrily, expressing her dissatisfaction with her trainer keeping her inside the ball.
"He still doesn't want to stay in the Poké Ball, huh?"
Wei Xin sighed. Ralts is already a rare Pokémon, and a Shiny Ralts is even rarer, not to mention it has a Hidden Ability. You probably couldn't find another Ralts like this anywhere in the world.
Wei Xin just saw on his phone news that a group of Pokémon hunters who steal rare Pokémon and resell them to Pokémon collectors recently entered the Eastern League.
Although the spaceship was shot down and captured by the Alliance Air Force as soon as it entered the airspace of the Eastern Empire Alliance, the leader of this group of hunters, J, is still missing and may even have infiltrated the territory of the Eastern Empire.
To prevent Ralts from being targeted, Wei Xin decided it was best to keep the little guy out of the public eye as much as possible.
But it's clear that Ralts has her own ideas.
"If you don't want to stay inside, then forget it."
Protecting one's Pokémon is a trainer's responsibility, so Wei Xin plans to think of other ways after he gets back.
Moreover, the Eastern Alliance is so large, J can't just slap it on his own face, can he?
Well, just in case, I'll go out and farm more action points to accumulate resources for card draws, and then I'll max out my level.
If any mere Pokémon hunter dares to invade, I will surely defeat them.
Upon seeing Ralts leap out of the Poké Ball, the Eevee in Wei Xin's arms froze, its pupils dilating sharply.
Her mind went blank, and jumbled thoughts gradually took over.
Who is she? Why did she come out of the trainer's Poké Ball? Is she the trainer's partner? Why? Wasn't I here first? Did they abandon me because I threw a tantrum? But I already know I was wrong?
But you hugged me? You weren't angry, were you? Even if you were angry, it's okay, I can be obedient, I can coax you?
Why can't you wait for me a little longer?
Why?
Ibrahimovic turned his head and looked at that familiar face. The admiration, joy, and anticipation he once felt had turned into an unreasonable hatred.
Trainer, you big idiot!
"Ouch!" Wei Xin felt a pain in his arm and released his grip on Ibu, revealing a faint tooth mark on it.
Is this little guy hungry?
"Ralts~" Ralts caught a glimpse of malice in her eyes. To protect her trainer, she stepped forward, and a pale blue glow emanated from her body.
Before landing, Ibuki felt a powerful force enveloping her, and then her body uncontrollably crashed into a tree trunk in the distance.
To prevent Eevee from retaliating, Ralts braced herself with her hands in front of her, preparing to use her psychic attack once again.
"Ralts, stop!" Wei Xin quickly picked up Ralts and rubbed its head.
"Ralts?" Ralts didn't understand why the trainer was stopping him, but he still obediently withdrew his psychic powers, raised both hands, and grasped the trainer's hands.
It's soft, warm, and so comfortable.
Ibrahimovic witnessed this scene.
Obedient, powerful, and cute—she's definitely a better choice than a disobedient and willful Pokémon like me.
Ibu's ears drooped, and she turned away in disappointment, glancing back at Wei Xin one last time. The fleeting memories pierced her heart like needles. Before Wei Xin could raise his hand to stop her, she turned and ran into the woods, disappearing from sight. Only the weeds on the ground caught her glistening tears.
"Ah, they escaped." Wei Xin scratched the back of his head, but didn't chase after them. After a moment of silence, he left the research center with Ralts.
Wei Xin will never know that an Eevee returned to the same spot after he left, lying where he had stood, waiting all night.
As dawn broke, clutching her shattered memories, she wept alone in the forest.
