Chapter 28
: The Legend of Princess Diancie and the Level 5 Superpowered Being
On a morning sandwiched between winter and spring, the dawn breaks over the distant horizon and enters the city, while most students in the dormitories are huddled in their blankets.
Occasionally, one or two early risers would walk along the school's cobblestone path, yawning and carrying their books.
The new buds of early spring peeked out the window at the handsome young man who had gotten up early in the room.
Perhaps I went to bed early last night, or perhaps meditation has the effect of improving sleep, or perhaps it's because I have a child at home.
Wei Xin got up very early today. Although the mysterious explosion last night woke him and Ralts, Wei Xin was not affected and was full of energy.
He held a book in his left hand, his thumb rapidly turning the pages. The book's cover read "Introduction to Basic Pokémon Battles," a reference book that the school required students majoring in battle to prepare on their own. In his right hand, he held a metal ladle, gently swirling it in the reddish porridge.
"Laru~" Hearing a soft, sweet voice, Wei Xin felt something tugging at his pants.
Looking down, he saw Ralts, draped in a small red blanket, who had somehow come out of the room. Following the aroma of breakfast porridge, she crept to his feet, shaking her head, half-asleep.
Wei Xin could even vaguely see many colorful, transparent bubbles slowly floating up on Ralts's head.
The little glutton woke up because of the delicious food.
Wei Xin put down the reference book, gently picked up Ralts, and let her sit on his forearm.
Ralts, her consciousness hazy, swayed slightly and leaned affectionately on Wei Xin's shoulder, savoring the time she spent alone with her trainer.
With a clanging sound, Wei Xin took the small spoon that Ralts used to use, scooped up a small spoonful of breakfast porridge, blew on it to cool it down, pried open Ralts' lips, and put it into its mouth.
"Ralu!"
The taste of sweet porridge spread in her mouth, reminding Ralts of the story her trainer had told her the night before: Princess Diancie had been deceived by her stepmother, ate a radioactive diamond, and fallen into a coma.
Ralts' eyes snapped open. She turned her head and met the gaze of her smiling trainer. Her startled heart instantly relaxed.
In the story, Princess Diancie meets King Raecrown riding a white horse, successfully wakes up from her dream, and finally lives happily ever after with the prince.
She had already met her prince. Although there was no white horse or palace, for Ralts, there was no happier life anywhere in the world.
……
After having breakfast, washing up and changing clothes, Wei Xin took Ralts in a taxi to the incubation base. After greeting the security guards and Growlithe, they took the newly repaired cable car to the research center located on the mountaintop.
As I pushed open the door, I ran into Senior Sister Huang, who was carrying a huge pile of documents.
"Good morning, senior sister," Wei Xin greeted her, then asked, "What do you need me to do today?"
"Junior Brother Wei, you've come at the right time. Help me move these documents to my office on the third floor." With that, Senior Sister Huang tossed a large stack of documents into Wei Xin's arms.
Wei Xin looked down and found that the materials in his arms were guides for raising various young Pokémon.
"The new students all chose their first Pokémon yesterday. Today, our task is to organize the corresponding training data and put it into the files."
As she spoke, Senior Sister Huang glanced at the Ralts at Wei Xin's feet, as if she had remembered something.
"After you finish putting out the materials, take Ralts to the small conference room on the second floor. The professor has arranged a teacher for Ralts there." After saying that, Senior Sister Huang sighed.
"We need to hurry, we're short-handed today. Yesterday, two of your senior brothers went to the supermarket for a late-night snack, and the supermarket warehouse suddenly exploded. They were both sent to the hospital, but thankfully their injuries weren't serious."
Senior Sister Huang muttered, "Why did this have to happen now of all times? The students were supposed to come and collect their things this afternoon."
"A supermarket warehouse exploded," Wei Xin recalled the loud noise from last night. The supermarket he and Ralts had gone to was in that direction. "The supermarket outside the North Campus dormitories?"
To balance the books, you're actually willing to blow up the entire warehouse? Hachiman, you bastard.
"Yes, Officer Jenny and the others are investigating the cause. They should have the results by this afternoon, but that's none of our business."
……
After delivering the documents to the office on the third floor, Wei Xin carried Ralts to the small conference room on the second floor.
Pushing open the door, a senior student stood in front of the blackboard in the conference room, with a hyacinth dog beside him. He was wearing a white lab coat, holding chalk in both hands, and writing a series of mathematical formulas and chemical formulas on the blackboard that even Wei Xin found difficult to understand.
Most Psychic-type Pokémon possess remarkable calculation and memory abilities. Among them, Pokémon like Alakazam, Hippowdon, Oranguru, and Metagross have intelligence levels far exceeding those of ordinary people.
"Senior, I've brought Ralts." Wei Xin led Ralts to the blackboard. On the way, he saw elementary school math textbooks and exercise books on the conference room table.
"Okay," the senior brother replied, then turned to Alakazam and said, "Alakazam, put that question down first, your student is here."
Having Alakazam, also a Psychic-type, teach Ralts is indeed a good choice.
"Alakazam!" Alakazam put down the chalk, manipulated its psychic powers to fly over the conference table, and landed in front of Ralts.
Looking down at the little guy at Wei Xin's feet, Hu Di narrowed his eyes into slits, his yellow mustache twitched slightly, and he forced an ugly smile.
"Ralu!" Ralulas was so frightened that she clung tightly to Wei Xin's ankles.
"Alakazam..." Alakazam seemed to feel rejected by Ralts, and lowered its head with a disappointed expression.
Although most Psychic-type Pokémon have high intelligence, they are still no different from children in terms of mentality.
"Let Alakazam and Ralts stay together today, and let him help Ralts develop her psychic abilities," the senior said.
"Develop superpowers? How do you do that?" Wei Xin asked. "Does it require drugs?"
Ralts is a girl, and after evolving into Gardevoir, she becomes a powerful Special Attacker.
Therefore, Wei Xin has been thinking about how to help Ralts develop superpowers, but he can't find a suitable method yet.
As for using drugs to forcibly improve, Wei Xin absolutely forbids it. What if it damages Ralts's head?
"No need for drugs. Let Ralts learn math from Alakazam first, and then do problems to improve Ralts' calculation, memory, and thinking abilities," the senior explained.
"Most Psychic-type Pokémon possess extremely high intelligence, and Metagross's computing power is comparable to that of a supercomputer. It can be said that it is precisely because of their psychic abilities that they are given an intelligence that surpasses that of other Pokémon."
"Therefore, based on our further research, we have found that learning certain subjects can effectively improve the intelligence of Psychic-type Pokémon, thereby developing their psychic abilities."
Got it, Academy City, Level 5 Psychic, Mind Control, Gardevoir, right?
"Alright, Ralts, you'll learn from Alakazam today, and you have to listen to Alakazam." Wei Xin squatted down, patted Ralts' head, and said.
"If you behave well, I'll cook you something delicious when we get back."
No matter what, I will do it.
"Ralu!"
Upon hearing this, Ralts obediently walked up to Alakazam, tugged at Alakazam's thigh, bowed, and apologized for her earlier behavior.
Seeing that Ralts had agreed, Wei Xin stood up, bowed to Alakazam, and said, "I'm entrusting my Ralts to you today."
"Alakazam!" Upon seeing this, Alakazam immediately beamed and proudly puffed out its chest.
