Chapter 1652

1 Point of No Reason

For Wang An now, anything that can be solved with money is no big deal. Fines are limited, but Wang An has plenty of money.

No matter what, as long as the child is saved, that's all that matters.

Wang An stood up, and Mu Xueqing said in a soft, sweet voice:

"Should we go now? Or should we wait a few more days, in case my period comes?"

At this moment, Mu Xueqing had completely different feelings and attitudes when she was with Huai Kuaile and Xingfu.

Back then, Mu Xueqing was full of anticipation, hope, and joy, but now she is filled with fear, dread, and an inability to face the reality. Pregnancy has become a huge burden for her.

Wang An smiled slightly and comforted him again:
"Don't worry, honey. Don't you know how capable I am? With me here, no one dares to do anything to you. I can make sure they get what's coming to them."

Hearing Wang An say this, a relieved smile finally appeared on Mu Xueqing's face, but she still said:
"I don't want to go now, let's wait a few more days."

Wang An smiled helplessly, and instead of trying to persuade him further, he said softly:
"Okay, let's wait a few days and then I'll go catch some fish for you. We'll have sturgeon boiled fish for lunch."

As he spoke, Wang An walked up to Mu Xueqing, reached out and patted her head, then turned and left.

He went downstairs to get a small fishing net, but didn't bring anything else. Then he walked towards the fishpond at the far west end of the yard.

Wang An's fishpond was quite large, measuring 100 meters from north to south and 25 meters from east to west. Therefore, Wang An didn't know exactly where the fish were, and he had no idea whether he could catch any sturgeon.

Wang An shook the fishing net open, then folded it back up and coiled it in his hand before casting it out.

If you're fishing in a river, you need to bait the spot, but if you're fishing in your own pond, you don't need to at all.

Once the fishing net sank to the bottom, Wang An pulled on the rope in his hand and dragged the net back up.

And believe it or not, with just one casual cast, we caught more than twenty fish, a variety of species including mandarin fish, crucian carp, grass carp, common carp, and catfish, but no sturgeon.

After shaking all the fish out of the net and throwing them back into the pond, Wang An cast a second net in a different spot, but unfortunately, there were still no sturgeon in the second net.

Immediately afterwards, Wang An cast his net several more times, but only caught one sturgeon, a young sturgeon weighing more than 2 pounds. Without even thinking, Wang An threw it back into the pond.

If it's grass carp, common carp, or catfish, it's enough to eat them when they weigh over 2 pounds. But sturgeon can easily grow to over 100 pounds, so eating one that small would be a complete waste of money.

After Wang An had cast countless nets and thrown countless fish back into the pond, he finally caught a large sturgeon weighing twenty pounds.

Looking at the enormous sturgeon in front of him, Wang An felt like crying.

There are plenty of sturgeon in the fishpond, but when it comes time to catch them, they just won't go into the net. That would be strange!

Carrying the large sturgeon and fishing net back to the yard, Wang An began to efficiently prepare the sturgeon.

This sturgeon is so big that you could say every part of it is a treasure. The fish meat is used to make boiled fish, and the head and bones with meat on them are used to make soup. No matter how you eat it, it's incredibly delicious.

Of course, people in Northeast China drink less soup; they mainly eat meat, and soup is just a side dish.

Wang An's hands didn't stop moving, but his mind was calculating where to arrange for Mu Xueqing to hide if she really was pregnant.

To be honest, Wang An wasn't afraid of those scheming people coming to his house, and he could take revenge on them afterward, even causing their families to be destroyed.

However, Wang An still did not want to do so unless absolutely necessary.

Although they were inhuman, Wang An didn't want his unborn child to be tainted by too much karma. Wang An only wanted his child to grow up peacefully, happily, and carefree.

After cleaning the sturgeon by the well, Wang An began processing the fish meat in the shed outside.

Sturgeon has firm and tender flesh, and it has no small bones, only cartilage. Even the elderly and children don't have to worry about getting fish bones stuck in their throats when eating it.

To be honest, in Wang An's opinion, using sturgeon to make boiled fish is a waste of the fish's potential.

Soon, Wang An had broken down the whole sturgeon into a large bowl of sashimi and a bowl of fish bones and heads.

Fish heads, bones, roe, and swim bladders are stewed in the bottom of a large pot, while a bowl of rice is steamed on top.

Immediately afterwards, Wang An started making boiled fish fillets in another pot.

The boiled fish is ready when hot oil is poured over it.

The boiled fish that Wang An made had no side dishes other than a few bok choy for garnish; it was all fish meat, making it absolutely delicious and satisfying to eat.

As the meal was prepared, Wang Dazhu and his wife returned home.

Although Wang Dazhu and Liu Guilan helped build Huang Zhong's house, they did not eat at Huang Zhong's house because compared to their own meals, Huang Zhong's communal cooking was simply not up to par.

If there's good food, who would eat bad food?

Upon seeing the elderly couple enter the courtyard, Wang An quickly greeted them, saying:

"Dad, Mom, hurry up and wash your hands before eating."

Wang Dazhu walked over, sniffed, and asked:

"What are you fiddling with now? It smells so good!"

Wang An opened the pot lid, and an even richer aroma eagerly wafted out. Wang An pointed to the food in the pot, a broad smile on his face, and said:
"Boiled sturgeon slices, sturgeon head soup, hahaha, how about it? Dad, Mom, look at the dishes I made, are you drooling yet?"

To everyone's surprise, when Liu Guilan saw the boiled fish, instead of praising Wang An, she immediately spoiled the mood by saying:
"You made boiled fish again, and this huge pot of it! How much oil did that use? You spendthrift!"

To be honest, while boiled fish is delicious, it's also incredibly oily.

Wang An smiled faintly and said:

"There's nothing I can do. It's your daughter-in-law's idea to eat this dish. She just really wants to eat it. So what do you suggest, Mom?"

Upon hearing this, Liu Guilan's lips moved slightly before she spoke:
"Xueqing, it's Xueqing who wants to eat it. Ah, that's good, that's good."

As soon as Liu Guilan finished speaking, Wang An's face froze, and he stared at Liu Guilan in disbelief, saying:
"Mom, I'm your own son. This boiled fish was made by your own son with great effort, taking him half a day to prepare. And now you're doing this to me? No, Mom, is this appropriate?"

Liu Guilan glared at Wang An, then launched into a barrage of three questions with an air of self-righteousness:

"What's wrong with it? Where's it wrong? What's wrong with it? You spendthrift!"

After saying that, Liu Guilan turned around and went to wash her hands by the well.

Wang An stared at Liu Guilan's retreating figure, his eyes darting around, then turned to Wang Dazhu and said:
"Dad, look at Mom, why is she like this? She's so unreasonable." (End of Chapter)
