Chapter 637

: You can eat enough by just hanging around

Chapter 637: You can eat enough by just hanging around

The reason for saying this is that many of the omens on the tree have been covered again with bark.

Normally, this kind of omen after cutting on the tree will be burned in the end, so the area where the bark is peeled off can remain unchanged for thirty to forty years, or even forty to fifty years.

The sign before us has been covered by regrowth of bark, which means that this sign is at least forty or fifty years old.

If we count by the coverage of newly grown bark, then this sign is likely hundreds or even thousands of years old.

Therefore, this omen is still a serious "old omen".

The main thing is that this red pine tree is very tall and thick, with a diameter of at least 1.5 meters, so the age of this red pine tree must be quite long.

After discovering that this was an old omen, Wang An's heart instantly became excited.

He quickly pulled out the knife and began to peel the bark of the tree again.

Of course, the place where Wang An peeled the bark of the red pine tree was also the place where he cut the omen.

Because Wang An wanted to judge what kind of ginseng had been produced in this place based on the complete information on this omen.

Seeing Wang An's face flushed, he seemed to be quite excited. Most importantly, Wang An's movements were very strenuous. Wang Li asked in confusion:

"Fourth brother, what are you doing? Why are you peeling the bark off the tree?"

After Wang Li finished speaking, Wang An peeled the bark vigorously and said with a smile:

"Old Five, you are definitely a lucky star. If I'm not mistaken, this place may be an old place."

When Wang Li heard the three words "Lao Zai Zi", he was stunned at first. It took him a while to realize what the three words "Lao Zai Zi" meant.

After Wang Li reacted, he suddenly became very excited and asked subconsciously:

"Old man? How can there be an old man in this place? Fourth brother, take a good look, is this true?"

It's no wonder that Wang Li had such doubts. The main reason is that although this place is considered to be deep in the mountains, it is a place frequented by mountain people. In other words, countless people have passed by here.

Could it be that they had not noticed this old omen? This was really hard to believe.

The reason why Wang Li was so excited was that there was a folk saying in Northeast China, which was "If you hang around an old man, you can have enough food to eat." This shows how much of an impact an old man can have.

Wang An said with a smile:

"Well, now that the old omen has appeared, there must be an old man. Hahaha, I just don't know if this old man has any big clubs left for us."

There is actually a reason why Wang An said this, that is, Han Shuisheng once said that where there are omens, there must be a place called a dānzi, but there may not be omens in an old dānzi.

To be precise, lao dazi is the earth pit left behind when ginseng was dug, and laozhaotou is the mark left on the tree by the ginseng diggers after digging the ginseng away.

The reason for doing this is that there were many rules for joining a gang in the early years, one of which was "promote the older and keep the younger."

Because it is pure wild ginseng, its growth is extremely slow.

From one to five years old, it has three leaves, which is called "three flower seeds".

It takes five to ten years for a branch and leaf to grow, which is called the "horseshoe".

After ten to twenty years, two branches and leaves will grow, which is called "Erjiazi".

After thirty or forty years, three branches and leaves will grow, which is called "dengtaizi" and commonly known as "three-grade leaves".

After fifty years, four branches and leaves will grow, which is the "fourth grade leaf". After eighty to one hundred years, five branches and leaves will grow, which is the "fifth grade leaf".

Only when it is over a hundred years old will it grow six branches and leaves, also known as "six-grade leaves", which are extremely rare in wild ginseng.

However, you should know that ginseng has another special feature. After ginseng reaches the sixth leaf, if it is not destroyed, it will have the sixth leaf every year, which means it will only grow 6 branches and leaves at most.

For example, "Sanhuazi", which is the small ginseng aged 1 to 5 years, and "Mazhangzi", which is the small ginseng aged 5 to 10 years, cannot be dug.

Because these small ginsengs are only slightly thicker than toothpicks, even if they are dug up, they have little value and are not worth money.

Only those that are "two generations old", that is, more than 10 years and less than 20 years old, can be excavated.

Of course, if you follow the rules strictly, "Erjiazi" cannot be dug. Only "Dengtaizi" also called "Sanpinye", that is, ginseng that has grown for more than 30 years, can be dug.

But rules are rules, and whether they are followed or not is another matter. After all, these rules are made by people, and rules made by people are actually meant to be broken.

Because although the "Erjiazi", a small ginseng that has grown for 10 to 20 years, is not worth much money, the "Erjiazi", which is the ginseng with branches and leaves divided into two forks, can be sold for money.

So as long as they can make money, no one will care about the rules.

What's more, "Erjiazi" is also called the "key to opening the mountain", which means that as long as you see "Erjiazi", there must be larger ginseng around.

In addition, there may be surprises when digging for the "Erjiazi".

This surprise is called "rebirth". If you look at the branches and leaves, it is clearly a "two-year-old" ginseng, but when you dig it out, it turns out to be a big ginseng root.

The reason why "rebirth" happens is that the original ginseng with three, four, five or six leaves has its reed heads bitten off by insects or stepped on by animals.

This results in the remaining half of the ginseng slowly growing in the soil, and when it has grown enough, it will grow two branches and leaves again after many years.

But we have to admit that those who joined the gang in the early years were relatively well-behaved.

At the very least, after digging up the ginseng, most of the ginseng gang members will abide by the rule of "cutting the omen".

The existence of the omen is actually a mark left by the early members of the ginseng gang. On the one hand, it is for the purpose of allowing them to come back a few times in their lifetime to dig out the big ginsengs that have grown from the small ginsengs left behind.

On the other hand, it is the well-being left for future generations.

Therefore, if there are "old signs", there must be old things.

In places where there are "old digs", if the original ginseng diggers did not cut the digs for various reasons, then naturally the "old digs" will not exist.

After hearing what Wang An said, Wang Li looked at Wang An's knife with shining eyes, cutting the newly grown bark one after another.

Wang An saw this and said with a smile:

"Don't stare at me. Go look at the trees nearby and see if there are any other trees with a piece of bark plucked out of them."

Wang Li nodded repeatedly after hearing this:
"Okay, fourth brother."

Just as Wang Li was about to leave, Wang An said:
"You don't need to look at the small trees, just pick the big trees like this one."

"I understand, Fourth Brother."

When Wang Li agreed to this, he had already run several meters away.

Just when Wang Li was looking for the "old omen" everywhere, Wang An finally peeled off all the bark on the omen.
