Chapter 650
Supernatural Phenomena
"Tian Fen'er!" Chen Ze shouted, then swung his Yin-Yang Sword, cleaving a ghostly figure that suddenly appeared in two.
The two halves of the ghost's body turned into a wisp of black smoke and disappeared, but at that moment the cave began to shake violently, and the surrounding stone walls seemed about to collapse.
"Oh no, this place is going to collapse!" Chen Ze's heart tightened. He quickly picked up the unconscious Tian Fen'er and ran towards the exit of the cave with all his might.
Every step felt like a weight on their hearts, and time seemed to stretch out. Finally, they successfully broke out of the cave.
As soon as they reached the ground, the underground cave collapsed, and after a loud bang, everything fell silent.
Chen Ze put Tian Fen'er down and carefully checked her condition.
Fortunately, apart from being unconscious, he was otherwise unharmed.
"We've escaped a disaster." Chen Ze breathed a sigh of relief, feeling extremely heavy-hearted.
Just as they were about to leave, a strange laugh echoed from the depths of the cave, sending chills down their spines.
"What happened? I clearly destroyed that ghost," Chen Ze said with a solemn expression.
"It seems there are still secrets hidden in this cave that we don't know about." Tian Fen'er woke up from her coma and also felt uneasy.
"Yes, if there's another chance next time, we absolutely cannot let our guard down." Chen Ze deeply felt the lesson and gripped the Yin-Yang Sword tightly in his hand.
The eerie laughter from the underground cave echoed in their minds, deeply reminding them that exploration was not just about finding treasure, but also a battle against the unknown. Although they had escaped this time, the road ahead was long and full of unknowns.
The two decided to leave the place temporarily and go back to do more preparation and research.
But that strange laugh seemed to become an invisible shackle, binding their hearts and making it unforgettable.
The atmosphere in the village contrasted sharply with the deathly stillness of the cave, yet Chen Ze sensed an uneasy feeling lurking beneath the tranquility.
He looked around and noticed the ancestral hall under the century-old tree, which housed a statue to suppress demons. At the same time, he caught a wisp of white smoke in the corner of his eye, which disappeared instantly.
"Everyone, be careful. I suspect the evil spirits from the underground cave have followed us."
"We must be on high alert," Chen Ze said solemnly to his companions.
"Are you sure?" Tian Siyao frowned, then scanned her surroundings with her eyes.
Chen Ze touched the Yin-Yang Mirror in his pocket, remembering that this thing could identify ghosts and supernatural phenomena.
He hesitated for a moment, but decided to use it for now, lest he disturb the evil spirit.
"How did you know?" Yan Xiaoxiao asked dismissively.
Chen Ze clenched his hands, feeling the chill growing stronger, as if confirming his guess.
He took a breath and said seriously, "I've never felt that kind of chill before; it's like a harbinger of doom."
Suddenly, a faint hissing sound came from the wind, and at the same time, an unknown, cold air current swept across the village.
At this moment, both Li Na, who was questioning, and Lin Feng, who was doubting, could feel the change in the surrounding air.
Chen Ze knew that time was running out, and he didn't have much time to explain or persuade others.
He quickly took out the Yin-Yang Mirror from his pocket and brought it to his eyes.
The scene in the mirror immediately changed; he saw a faint white figure standing under a large tree near the ancestral hall.
"Look there!" Chen Ze suddenly shouted, pointing to the area under the big tree. His voice was filled with shock and alertness.
Li Na and Lin Feng subconsciously turned their heads to look. Although they didn't have the Yin-Yang Mirror, they sensed a different atmosphere.
“I can’t see anything, but I can feel it,” Tian Siyao said nervously.
"Me too, something feels off," Tian Fen'er replied softly. She had a feeling that someone was watching them from behind.
Chen Ze put the Yin-Yang Mirror back into his pocket, took a breath, and tried to steady his heartbeat. "Since everyone has sensed it, let's hurry up and find the village elders and ask them to help us perform a ritual."
They quickened their pace, hurrying through the alleyways towards the village elders' house.
However, that chilling air current seemed like the tentacles of the night, silently following behind them.
Although the ghost's form has not yet been seen, the lingering fear and unease in everyone's hearts make them clearly aware that this is far from over.
Chen Ze stood under an ancient tree at the village entrance, his hands in his pockets, his brow furrowed.
He recalled a series of strange events that had recently occurred in the village.
Livestock died inexplicably, and the once vibrant cattle and sheep became hideous; strange howls emanated from the houses, reminiscent of the cries of trapped wild animals; even more unsettling, several children claimed to have seen "white shadows."
"Chen Ze, what are you doing here?"
Tian Siyao's voice interrupted his thoughts.
He turned around and saw that she was wearing a red cashmere sweater, exuding a simple beauty.
"I'm thinking, aren't these things a bit too bizarre?" Chen Ze's voice revealed deep worry.
Tian Siyao walked to his side, her gaze sweeping across the ground under the big tree, as if searching for something.
"What do you think we should do?" Chen Ze took a deep breath. "I think maybe we should tell the villagers, at least to give them some preparation and prevent problems before they occur."
Tian Siyao nodded, her gaze fixed on the wheat field in the distance, as if something there had attracted her.
"Yes, this is indeed a safer approach."
But do you think they'll believe us? People here are very traditional; they might think it's all superstition.
Chen Ze paused for a moment, then said, "That's still better than doing nothing."
The two walked back to the village side by side.
The streetlights cast a warm yellow glow, as if dispelling the heavy gloom around them.
Even so, Chen Ze was still filled with unease.
After returning, Chen Ze took out a Yin-Yang Mirror and carefully examined the entire room.
He obtained this mirror from Chen Ze; it can identify supernatural phenomena such as ghosts.
However, he found nothing.
"It seems this matter is not simple," he thought to himself.
Tian Siyao leaned against the door frame, looking at him with a worried expression: "All of this makes me feel very uneasy. I'm worried that this is just the tip of the iceberg."
Chen Ze raised his head, his gaze resolute. "No matter what, we must find out the truth."
Just then, a cold wind suddenly blew into the room, extinguishing the fireplace flame.
The two immediately felt a chill, as if the whole world had been plunged into darkness.
“This isn’t ordinary wind,” Tian Siyao said nervously.
“Yes, we need to be more careful.” Chen Ze took a deep breath, a determined expression on his face. He knew that what they were about to face might be even more dangerous and bizarre. (End of Chapter)
