Chapter 653
Finally out
The two carefully stepped over the serpentine markers and ventured deeper into the shadows.
At that moment, faint weeping sounds came from the depths of the tomb, like the whispers of ghosts.
"Did you hear that? What was that sound?" Chen Ze frowned.
"I don't know either, but it's obvious there are more than just the two of us here." Tian Siyao's voice revealed a hint of tension and fear.
As they ventured deeper into the ancient tomb, the weeping grew clearer, like a strange melody, creating a chilling symphony with the biting wind within.
Tian Siyao couldn't help but shiver; she felt an invisible pressure gradually enveloping her.
Just then, the flame of the oil lamp suddenly began to shake violently, as if it had been scraped by something.
Tian Siyao screamed and almost fell behind Chen Ze.
"Don't be afraid, I'm here." Chen Ze gripped Tian Siyao's hand tightly.
Suddenly, a chilling laugh echoed through the ancient tomb, breaking the previous silence.
The two men's expressions changed drastically, and they immediately realized that they were not the only "visitors" to this ancient tomb.
"Are you ready to face them?" Chen Ze looked around, the sinister laughter making him even more alert.
Tian Siyao took a deep breath. She knew there was no turning back; she could only forge ahead.
"Ready? Let's see what's here playing games with us."
The two started walking again, unsure of what awaited them, but their determination was stronger than ever.
Along the way, the eerie markings and constantly changing sounds seemed to be putting them through a silent test, but nothing could stop them from continuing their journey.
Tian Siyao gently tugged at Chen Ze's sleeve, her voice tinged with shock, "Something's off here, don't you think?"
Chen Ze looked around and realized that this place was different from the places they had been before.
Although the tombs were dilapidated and the walls were mottled, there seemed to be an indescribable sense of oppression in the air.
He said softly, "Yes, I also feel something is off."
Could it be related to this mural?
Tian Siyao suddenly stared at the direction of the woman's gaze in the mural, and her eyes lit up slightly. Then she took out a pen and paper and quickly made some marks.
"Do you feel that look is guiding us in a certain direction?"
"I thought so at first, but what does that prove?" Chen Ze frowned and began to carefully observe everything around the mural.
He suddenly noticed that the woman's gaze was fixed on a broken section of the wall.
Chen Ze suddenly understood something. He slowly approached the damaged area, gently pushed it, and a hidden door slowly opened.
A hint of surprise appeared on Tian Siyao's face, but it was quickly replaced by wariness. "I feel like this is going too smoothly, don't you think?"
Chen Ze took out his Yin-Yang Mirror, put it on his glasses, and looked around.
Under the influence of the Yin-Yang Mirror, he saw some faint light and shadow moving about, as if they were several souls bound here.
He silently put the Yin-Yang Mirror away, his expression becoming even more solemn.
"We must be careful. There seems to be something here that is beyond our comprehension." Chen Ze's voice was low, but it was enough for Tian Siyao to feel the weight behind his words.
The two held hands, took a deep breath, and stepped through the hidden door. As soon as they entered, the door slowly closed behind them, as if it were a barrier sealing off all escape routes.
As they walked, strange sounds would occasionally rise up, sometimes a melodious female voice singing, sometimes the crying of a baby, and sometimes the coughing of an old man.
All of this creates a terrifying and eerie scene that sends chills down your spine.
Tian Siyao gripped Chen Ze's hand tightly, a strange sense of tension welling up inside her.
Chen Ze held her hand tightly, but he knew that in this unknown environment, they could only rely on themselves and each other.
Just then, Chen Ze felt something move beneath his feet.
He looked down and found it was a crushed bone.
This discovery made him start to ponder what all of this meant. Suddenly, Tian Siyao exclaimed and pointed ahead: "Look, there's a mark over there!"
Chen Ze and Tian Siyao stood before the ancient stone gate, their hearts filled with tension and unease.
Chen Ze's gaze lingered on the mysterious runes on the door, a sense of vigilance rising within him.
These runes seem to be relics of an ancient civilization, filled with ineffable power.
"Tian Siyao, what do you think of this place?" Chen Ze turned to Tian Siyao, trying to distract himself.
Tian Siyao gently touched the stone door, as if trying to sense something from it, and then replied, "Something's not right. There seems to be a sense of oppression here, as if something is observing us."
The stone door suddenly opened with a deep rumbling sound.
A pitch-black space appeared before them, like a black hole that swallowed all light.
Chen Ze took out his Yin-Yang Mirror, put it on, and stared into the darkness inside the door, trying to find out the secrets hidden inside.
"Did you see anything?" Tian Siyao asked nervously.
"Nothing much, but there's definitely something here." Chen Ze slowly took down the Yin-Yang Mirror, his eyes flashing with determination. "We'd better be careful; we don't know what traps or uninvited guests might be waiting for us here."
Both of them knew that unknown dangers might be hidden behind this stone door, but in order to find the answers, they had to move forward.
Chen Ze first checked the ground and walls, but found no obvious trap marks or anything else suspicious. Then he signaled Tian Siyao to follow.
Just as the two were about to step into the darkness, a strange laugh suddenly came from afar, as if it were a mockery coming from the depths of hell.
Chen Ze and Tian Siyao exchanged a glance, and Chen Ze saw a hint of unease in Tian Siyao's eyes.
"Did you hear that?" Tian Siyao's voice trembled slightly.
"I heard you, but it's too late to turn back now. We can only keep moving forward and see what's going on." Chen Ze took a deep breath and gripped the Yin-Yang Mirror tightly in his hand.
Tian Siyao nodded and followed closely behind.
The two stepped into the darkness, and the stone door slowly closed behind them. With each step forward, the surrounding air seemed to grow more oppressive, as if even breathing became difficult.
After an unknown amount of time, the two suddenly sensed a glimmer of light ahead.
Chen Ze quickened his pace, but his vigilance did not diminish.
When the two finally reached the source of the light, a huge stone chamber appeared before them.
"Finally out," Tian Siyao said softly, but her tone revealed a deeper unease and confusion. (End of Chapter)
