The Story of the Exorcist

Chapter 214 The Story of the Exorcist

After hanging up the phone, Qin Jin drove to the safe house.

To his utter surprise, before he even arrived, Catherine's phone rang again, this time clearly panicked: "Qin! By the roadside! Those three people! Three people have appeared!"

Catherine could barely contain herself; her voice became noticeably more urgent: "They're here! The one in the middle is floating—its feet aren't touching the ground—it's staring at the house! Qin! It's right by the roadside—"

"Relax, Catherine, calm down, it's okay!" Qin Jin first calmed Catherine's panic and fear before calmly asking about the situation: "Describe their condition, location, and—what are they doing?"

"Just like Sheila said! Across the street! Standing in the shadows of the streetlights across the street! Watching us, staring at us."

Just then, a loud crash of shattering glass came from the other end of the phone!

Then came Catherine's horrified cry: "Alessa! No—!"

Qin Jin's brow furrowed almost imperceptibly, and he raised his voice: "What's wrong with Aresa?"

Constantine's voice immediately cut in, quick but clear: "Qin, Alessa broke through the window and went straight for those three things! Should we provide support?"

Upon hearing that it was Alessa who had taken the initiative, Qin Pu's slightly furrowed brows instantly relaxed. This was typical of her; given Alessa's abilities—

Those three are lucky to have escaped! Any support they receive is just fluff.

"No need," Qin Jin replied crisply. "You all stay put, protect the target, and keep an eye on Yuanxiao. I'll be there in ten minutes."

There was a moment of silence on the other end of the phone, followed by Constantine's reply: "Received."

Qin Jin hung up the phone and looked ahead at the road. The car continued to move steadily, its black silhouette gliding silently through the night, heading straight for the safe house.

When Qin Jin drove to the street where the safe house was, the first thing he saw was Alessa, holding a Science Fiction doll and standing quietly by the roadside, with Yuanxiao rolling around on the lawn behind her.

There was nothing on the other side of the street, and Aresa had nothing else at her feet or in her hands.

He pulled over, stopped the car, turned off the engine, got out, grabbed a hammer, and walked over to Alessa: "What, you ran away?"

Alessa nodded, devoid of any emotion: "Too fast, they got away."

"Fine, if we didn't catch it, we didn't catch it."

It wasn't surprising that Qin Jin had the same idea: "Do you know what it is?"

Alessa tilted her head and thought for a moment, her words remaining concise: "Cold, damp, not human. Very fast."

She paused, her nostrils twitching almost imperceptibly, as if trying to recall: "—I smelled the scent, but I can't remember. I need to think."

"It's okay, take your time thinking about it. Let's go find the radio first and see what it is."

Qin Jin nodded, turned and walked towards the safe house. Alessa turned and followed. Yuanxiao rolled over and came running over on all fours, wiggling her butt.

As soon as I pushed open the door, a tense and oppressive atmosphere hit me.

In the living room, Catherine, Constantine, and the two survivors—Mark and Emily—sat stiffly on the sofa, their faces pale.

A flat, male voice was flowing from several corners of the room, telling a terrifying story that took place in an old textile factory. The details were so realistic that it was about to reach the end, where the protagonist was mercilessly swallowed up by the fabric rolling machine.

"—His last breath, mixed with cotton wool and blood, remained forever in that greedy machine."

The story ends abruptly.

Qin Jin glanced at the terrified crowd and casually said, "There's nothing scary about it, it's just a story."

He was about to check the security system when the voice rang out again without pause, its tone becoming like the fake enthusiasm of an old-fashioned radio host: "Dear listeners, thank you for listening to the previous story. Now, we'll continue with the second story—"

'

"It used to be only one post a day!"

Mark suddenly grabbed his hair, his voice trembling with fear. Emily cowered in terror, while Catherine's face turned pale and her lips clenched tightly. Only Constantine had already taken out his sacred hunting rifle and was loading it with bullets, his face full of displeasure.

Qin Jin began to look around, searching for the source of the sound.

The voice continued in that fake, enthusiastic tone, "Now, we have a few stories to choose from: a story about a policeman, a story about an exorcist, or—a story about a little girl. Which one would you like to hear first?"

Just then, Qin Jin suddenly spoke, his voice not loud, but exceptionally clear, interrupting the omnipresent broadcast: "Tell the story of the little girl."

Everyone in the living room was startled and looked at Qin Jin in shock, never expecting him to directly talk to this eerie voice.

The broadcast was silent for a few seconds, as if truly receiving instructions, before continuing with that cold enthusiasm: "It seems everyone prefers something more exciting? Well then, let's tell the story of that exorcist!"

"Come on! Speak up, Fuck you!"

Constantine suddenly stood up, clicked off the safety of the sacred hunting rifle, and held it to his chest, exuding a murderous aura.

Qin Jin, on the contrary, seemed to have confirmed something, and a cold smile appeared on his lips.

He ignored the voice and turned directly to Constantine: "Jack, what did you use to seal the evil spirits—salt, silver, or something else?"

"Evil spirits? Ordinary ones, salt will do! But if they're too powerful—" Constantine replied quickly.

"Okay, let's treat it as an evil spirit."

Qin Jin interrupted him, "Did you bring salt? Surround this house, and if you have enough, go right away."

Constantine immediately realized what was happening and ran out to retrieve a bag of salt from the trunk of the car—

As standard equipment for exorcists, holy water, salt, silverware, a cross, and a Bible—they have it all.

Qin Jin then said to Catherine, "Keep an eye on them. They're on the sofa, don't move around." He patted Yuanxiao's fluffy head at his feet, "Yuanxiao, keep an eye on them for me. Call me if anything seems wrong."

Yuanxiao raised its head, made two "gurgling" sounds in its throat, indicating that it understood, and then really moved its chubby body and lay down next to the sofa like a loyal guard, its dark eyes scanning the surroundings warily.

Then, Qin Jin gestured with his chin to Aresha: "Come on, let's find it."

The two started moving almost simultaneously.

Qin Jin's actions were simple and brutal. If a sound came from a crack in the wall or ceiling, he didn't bother to examine the structure and just smashed it with a hammer!

The plasterboard shattered, exposing the hidden speaker cables, which he ruthlessly tore off and smashed.

Aresa's method was more efficient; she seemed to be able to perceive the faint fluctuations of the sound source more accurately. When she touched it, the wall there would quickly erode and decay, revealing the sound-producing equipment hidden behind it, which she would then tear off directly.

Soon, the sound-emitting devices of several security systems were physically removed, and the entire safe house instantly became quiet.

However, the silence lasted for less than three seconds.

Sizzle sizzle—

Sizzle sizzle—

Sizzle sizzle—

The television in the center of the living room, which had been black, suddenly lit up automatically. Amidst the static on the screen, that eerie voice seemed about to reappear—

Before anyone else could shout, there was a loud bang!

Alessa blasted the TV speaker with a single shot; shards flew everywhere, and the noise completely disappeared.

Qin Jin gave Aresa a thumbs up: "Well done."

Catherine and the two survivors stared in disbelief.

Catherine hesitated before speaking, "Qin—do you—need any help?"

Despite her fear, Catherine immediately understood Qin Jin's intention, which is the most common and customary form of physical exorcism in America.

Just then, Constantine finished spreading the salt rings and pushed open the door. Seeing the scene in the living room that resembled a demolition site, he exclaimed "Oh!" as if he was annoyed that he hadn't thought of it.

Qin Jin shook the dust off his hands and said calmly, "I just want to see what he'll do next if we don't let him make a sound."

As if in response to his words, almost simultaneously, the cell phones of Catherine, Constantine, and even Mark and Emily all rang with that jarring default ringtone, which sounded particularly eerie in the suddenly silent room.

"Don't answer it," Qin Jin immediately ordered.

The phone rang persistently for a while before finally stopping.

However, this silence did not last long.

Suddenly, the window swung open, and dozens of sheets of paper rustled in the night air, whipped by the wind and flying towards the window, threatening to drift into the room.

"Bang! Bang! Bang!"

A huge gunshot suddenly rang out!

Alessa fired again, and amidst the whistling of bullets, a dozen or so sheets of paper were instantly torn to shreds.

Almost at the same time, Constantine, who had just entered the room, also drew his pistol and fired repeatedly at the fluttering papers in the air that were trying to get closer to the house!

"Bang! Bang!"

The smell of gunpowder filled the air instantly, and all the paper was torn to shreds.

At this moment, Qin Jin's voice rang out lazily again: "Come on, tell me a story! I'm waiting!"
