Chapter 4
Sejuani
So warm...
This was Sejuani's first thought at that moment.
The warm breeze dispelled the chill from her body, and vitality returned to her somewhat stiff limbs. The feeling of relaxation, as if she were tending to her own fireplace, made her feel intoxicated.
But then, an even greater sense of vigilance crept into his mind.
Looking at the snow-covered vacuum zone that had been cleared away by a powerful force, and then at Helen who seemed to have consumed nothing, she couldn't help but feel a tightness in her chest.
This person is not only a powerful individual, but also seems to be a shaman...
He is a shaman who truly possesses magical powers!
She dared not put down the long knife in her hand; if this man wanted to harm her, she feared she would be unable to resist.
However, her wary demeanor annoyed Herren.
What do you mean? I kindly saved you, and you're pointing a knife at me?
I'm a good person! You're pointing a knife at me?
"Hey! I saved your life! Is this how you treat your savior?"
"..."
Sejuani remained silent for a moment, and seeing that Heron seemed to have no ill intentions, she reluctantly put down her longsword.
But she still kept her distance from Herren warily, adding that...
"It did help me, but it wasn't exactly life-saving... The bitter cold can't kill me."
"Oh yes, yes, you really are freezing. Your mouth is so stiff it's frozen solid."
"..."
Sejuani's lips trembled slightly. She wasn't good with words; it was unclear whether she couldn't explain herself or simply couldn't be bothered to.
"Stranger, who are you?"
"Me? My name is Herren, from the village of Lu."
"Luxiang?"
Sejuani frowned. What kind of place was Hearth Village? A tribe? She had never heard of it.
But looking at the hammer and anvil in Herren's hand, she could tell that the person in front of her was most likely a furnace worker.
Sejuani had a lot of complaints about the fire-starter.
In her view, these so-called craftsmen had no fighting ability, spent all day hammering and banging, and ate a lot. In short, they were just freeloaders.
To make matters worse, Sejuani's Winter's Claw tribe also had a group of Hearthstone allies whom she considered freeloaders.
Those people were allies forcibly placed there by the Frostguard. They did nothing, yet they were allowed to take a share of the tribe's food according to the covenant.
Sejuani had great confidence in her own strength, in the strength of her Warmother, and in the strength of the powerful warriors in the tribe. She firmly believed that the Winterclaw tribe was still very powerful.
But how could such a powerful tribe not even be able to support its people?
Sejuani directed all her discontent at the Hearth Households who didn't hunt but shared food.
In her eyes, those hearth dwellers were nothing more than lackeys who helped the Frostguard weaken the tribe.
Seeing that Sejuani's expression was somewhat unfriendly, Heron felt a little confused.
It's hard to be a good person these days. What's wrong with the people of Freljord?
"Hey, you only asked for my name, what's your own name?"
Although Sejuani's expression was not good, she remembered that the fire-maker had helped her, so she answered concisely.
"I am Sejuani of Winter's Claw, I am the Longsword."
"Winter's Claw... Sejuani?! Sejuani?!"
Herren paused for a moment, his first reaction being that the name sounded familiar. After all, he had traveled through more than ten years, and even though he had a good memory, it still took him a few seconds to process it.
This is Sejuani, the Fury of the North?! Her?!
Sejuani could clearly sense that the fire-starter in front of her had suddenly become very excited, his eyes burning with passion, which made her extremely uncomfortable.
And... what does "pig girl" mean? How come I didn't know I was famous enough to have a nickname?
She didn't find the description of pig offensive at all; in Freljord, pigs were considered ferocious beasts, just like wolves and mammoths.
Before she could say anything, she suddenly saw Herren's face get closer, and she involuntarily shrank back.
"They really do look alike... Wait, is Piggy Girl really that pretty?"
When it comes to Sejuani, the Wrath of the North, also known as Pig Girl, Harren's impression of her is still that of a tough woman who wears a horned helmet, rides a wild boar, and charges forward wielding a whip.
This thing is actually quite pretty...
Herren's offhand praise made Sejuani feel uncomfortable. She had grown up amidst setbacks, especially from her mother, who always called her "useless."
Of course, Sejuani wasn't particularly impressed by compliments on her appearance, but it was enough to please her.
However, Herren then launched into a barrage of questions.
"By the way, where's your pig? That big pig, what was its name again... And why are you using a knife? Where's your weapon... Where are your attendants? Aren't you the War Mother? Why are you out here alone?"
Most of the questions Heron asked left Sejuani completely bewildered. What pig? What weapon?
She could answer only the last question.
"I am not the War Mother... The War Mother of Winter's Claw is my mother."
"Oh~"
Herren thought for a moment and then realized what was going on.
So that's how it is. This pig girl in front of me is still in her juvenile form? She hasn't grown into "Wrath of the North" yet? No wonder there aren't even any pigs here.
"No wonder you almost froze to death."
If it's Sejuani who hasn't fully matured yet, then it's understandable.
"...I told you, I won't freeze to death."
"Fine, fine, stop pretending."
Heron smiled. This was the first hero he had seen in over a decade of time travel, besides Ornn, the Mountain-Hidden Flame.
"Then, can you take me to Winter's Claw? I'm still wandering around outside and want to find a place to stay."
In Heron's view, this should be a very simple request. After all, he had saved Sejuani's life and even showed off a little. As the daughter of the War Mother and the future War Mother, it should be easy for him to bring someone back, right?
However, Sejuani frowned slightly and fell into deep thought.
Clearly, Herren's status as a furnace dweller made her somewhat resistant...
But she wasn't ungrateful. Considering Harren's help and the strength he had demonstrated, Sejuani nodded in agreement.
"Yes, but not now."
Why?
Sejuani had recovered from the cold. She held her longsword in front of her, looked at the snowstorm in the distance, and said.
"I came out hunting, and if I go back empty-handed..."
"Oh, so concerned about saving face."
"..."
Sejuani was speechless for a moment, and she began to argue, somewhat annoyed.
"This isn't about saving face! This is...this is shame! It's shameful to go hunting and not bring back any game!"
"Fine, whatever you say."
Heron shrugged helplessly and affectionately put his arm around Sejuani's shoulder.
"To prevent you from freezing to death in the blizzard, I'll reluctantly accompany you."
Sejuani pushed away the overly familiar Harren in annoyance, then ignored him and walked into the snowstorm with her longsword.
After walking a few steps, her voice came through the wind.
"Okay, if you encounter any danger, hide behind me."
"Are you kidding me? I'm a grown man..."
Harren was speaking when he suddenly remembered that Freljord was a matriarchal society...
With a physique like mine, I'd probably be considered a loli by mainstream beauty standards.
Seeing that Sejuani had walked away without waiting for him, Heron quickly packed up his tools and chased after her.
