Chapter 8
: Browsing Forbidden Websites on a Main Street Late at Night
[Recently, several egregious incidents have occurred in the Hyperdimension Netherworld, with the large-scale criminal organizations Team Ideal and Team Real violently stealing other students' starter Pokémon. Several school principals have issued statements in support of their students. Let's see how Hyperdimension Netherworld has responded.]
I first express my deepest regret regarding these crimes, but the Hyperdimension is not under our company's control. Our company aims to achieve resource recovery in the Hyperdimension by working with more Pokémon worlds.
However, out of humanitarian considerations, our company has conducted rigorous inspections on all Genesis Crystals sold to ensure that every customer at every Genesis Crystal sales point legally possesses a local league trainer's license and a Pokédex.
Okay, let's get back to our news...
On the main road leading to the countryside, the bus pulled by heavy mud-brick horses was dimly lit by lanterns. Xia Ming lay on a small wooden bed, idly watching a news broadcast on his phone. This was one of the few ways he could gain a more comprehensive understanding of the world.
Beside him was Larva, who was fast asleep. Instead of entering the Poké Ball, Larva snuggled into Xia Ming's arms and slept with him in his arms. Even through his clothes, Xia Ming could feel the firm texture of Larva's rough skin.
"The separated Plasma Team again. These villains are always haunting us."
This wasn't the first time Xia Ming had seen news about the two evil organizations, the Real Team and the Ideal Team.
The world he lived in was a completely enlarged version of the Unova region, with all regions of the world replaced by the city-level cities of the former Unova region.
However, the difference was that the Plasma Team split around the time he was six years old. The Plasma Team, which had been rampant in this world for a long time, suddenly split into two factions with very different styles of operation.
One side is the realistic team that advocates reality, while the other side is the more idealistic team. The two sides have similar ideas on the topic of "Pokémon liberation", but their approaches are completely different.
Xia Ming glanced at the reports on the locations where the two teams were currently active and then stopped paying attention, since the fire hadn't reached him yet.
After reading the news, Xia Ming switched channels on his phone, first connecting to the special software blocking alliance's search signal, then entering a mysterious URL that redirected him to a forbidden website. The information that greeted him was enough to make any Officer Jenny draw her pistol:

[The Ideal Team is recruiting; we don't accept overgrown children who constantly talk about reality.]

"Damn it, these Pokémon hunters are ripping off secondhand female Ralts for two million League Coins. Who knows if they'll even recognize their trainer after you buy them?"
Xia Ming originally thought he could try to snag a female Ralts egg during graduation season, since Pokémon prices often plummet during graduation season.
Otherwise, he wouldn't have started browsing such forbidden websites from the age of twelve after having this idea, and he wouldn't have started accumulating Alliance Coins from a young age.
But to my surprise, the price of female Ralts remained as high as in previous years. Even a second-hand one I snatched from another student cost two million Alliance Coins, and that was the starting price. It's outrageous!
"Sigh, I guess I still have to stick to farming. Once I become a berry tycoon, I'm definitely going to buy six female Ralts to be my maids!"
Heartbroken, Xia Ming left the forbidden website and secretly set a goal in his heart while preparing to fall asleep. In his dreams, he was filled with wonderful images of female Gardevoirs dressed as maids taking care of him like a rich, overgrown baby.
The road was flat, and the heavy mud-drawn horse's gait was exceptionally steady. Its uniquely trained attributes and strength allowed it to walk on flat ground.
The moonlight fell through the carriage window and was chased away by the lamplight and CD player, and occasionally the whistling sound of the wind caused by the passing carriage could be heard.
Xia Ming did not turn off the electric lantern hanging on the side of the carriage for illumination. After putting away his phone, he lay down on his side on the small bed, held Young Gilas's big head in his hands, closed his eyes, and fell into a deep sleep.
------
"Hiss~"
"Finally arrived? Aww~~ Let's get off the vehicle, Younggiras. There's still a lot of work to do today."
The next day at noon, the sun was hanging in the center of the sky. Perhaps because he had stayed up too late the night before, Xia Ming was only now waking up.
It wasn't that I woke up from sleep, but rather that I was awakened by the gentle trotting of the horses pulling the heavy mud carts.
With Young Gilas by his side, Xia Ming yawned as he disembarked from the carriage, carrying his spatial backpack. Before him lay a small valley surrounded by mountains, with a winding road stretching from his feet all the way to the small town that was clearly visible in the valley.
To the right of the valley lies the boundless sea, with scattered small beaches behind steep mountains. There is no space to build factories, and you can't even see fishing boats on the beach. Only a lonely pier and lighthouse stand on the only relatively open coastline.
Stardew Valley is the name of this place, a legendary place blessed by the mythical Pokémon Jirachi, and the place where the first meteorite named "Jirachi" fell and slumbered.
The life-giving Xerneas has also set foot on this land, and the water spirit that purifies all water sources has come to meditate on the surface of the only lake here more than once.
The Rock Pillar named "Regirock" sleeps deep within the endless mountains behind Stardew Valley, guarding this land.
It's a peaceful place with many tourists, but there aren't many people or Pokémon living here.
It wasn't that they couldn't afford the land in this beautiful and scenic place, or the houses they could build here; it was simply that Mayor Lewis didn't want to disrupt the peace and tranquility of the area, and the farmers living here didn't want their family's generations of cultivated land to be destroyed.
Of course, the deeper reason is a major event that happened here forty years ago.
Xia Ming had heard his still-living grandfather tell him more than once that forty years ago, a rising company from Raven City intended to acquire the area to cultivate berries. After being rejected, they even managed to get a trainer who had been awarded the title of "Elite Four".
How could the ordinary people in the area possibly have such a powerful force to resist? Just when Lewis's father was about to compromise, Darkrai, who controlled the nightmares, appeared.
For some reason, it protected this peaceful land, and with a simple wave of its hand, it put all of the Elite Four's Pokémon to a deep sleep.
Since then, this area has basically become the self-governing territory of the local residents, and even the United States Alliance has not interfered much.
To live here, you need the consent of at least three local farmers.
"Devin Agricultural Market Development Company? When did Devon's subsidiary get involved in agriculture?"
Xia Ming, who had originally wanted to admire the scenery of his hometown a little longer, suddenly frowned. He saw a group of buildings located on the left side of the main road in his hometown.
The supermarket, hotel, and office buildings are integrated into one place, like a small resort. They are located on the edge of the Stardew Valley map, where there are far more people than back home.
