Chapter 4

You've Successfully Caught My Attention

My lungs felt like they were burning, and my heart was beating so fast I could feel it, like it was about to jump out of my throat.

But Lu Li did not stop.

He ran with more effort than he did when he took the 1,000-meter race in junior high school thirteen years ago.

Just kidding!

If you don't run the 1000-meter dash well in the high school entrance exam, at most you won't get a perfect score, but if you fail to run it now, it could mean the end of your life!

While getting soaked in the rain, Lu Li glanced around.

The rain was pouring down, and the night was pitch black.

Even though this is a shopping district plaza, there's no one here.

He turned around and rushed into the small stairwell.

This connects to the underground parking garage on the second basement level.

Using the dim light of the stairwell's motion-sensor lights, Lu Li rushed all the way to the underground parking lot.

Perhaps because it was late and not the weekend, and the supermarket that leads directly to the parking lot was closed, there weren't many cars in the underground parking lot.

Lu Li quickly ran to his car, opened the door, and got in.

He glanced left and right.

He was the only one in the car, so there was no problem.

The engine was started quickly, and the automatic headlights cast a bright white light in the dimly lit underground parking lot.

He took out his phone, scanned the parking lot's QR code, and after paying three yuan, drove straight to the exit.

After going up two hills in a row, Lu left the parking lot.

It was pouring rain outside, and even with the wipers on the highest setting, visibility was still less than fifty meters.

But Lu Li couldn't care less about that anymore.

He stepped on the gas and sped home, running red lights all the way!

Fortunately, it was raining heavily and it was nighttime, so there were no other cars on the road except for Lu Li's BMW.

Under the bright yellow streetlights, only his black BMW splashed water on the wide eight-lane road in opposite directions.

What usually takes half an hour only took five minutes today.

When Lu Li entered the underground parking lot of the residential area, he observed the security guard's duty room next to the lifting gate.

It was pitch black; the security guards inside were probably asleep.

The camera scanned the license plate, the barrier rose, and he parked in the parking space.

After turning off the engine, he didn't get out of the car. Instead, he rolled down the window, took out a cigarette, and put it in his mouth.

He was on edge the whole way, afraid that something unexpected might happen.

Now that I'm home, I can finally relax.

I checked my pockets, but I couldn't find my lighter.

Lu Li frowned and reached for his pocket.

Suddenly, a hand reached out from the side, holding a Zippo chrome lighter with an orange-red flame.

"Thanks."

Lu Li subconsciously leaned over and lit a cigarette, then suddenly froze.

Under the flickering firelight, Miss Bai's pretty face, which seemed to be smiling but wasn't, was visible.

Behind the flickering firelight, her bloodshot eyes emitted a faint red glow in the darkness.

"Holy crap?!?!"

Lu Li instantly opened the car door and rolled off the car with a side roll.

Then he stood up, holding a small hand axe that he had kept under the chair for self-defense.

Ms. Bai got out of the passenger seat, then walked around the car and stopped about three meters away from Lu Li.

This is the new Miss Bai, wearing a short-sleeved police uniform and a police hat.

She wore a black short skirt with black stockings and black high heels.

Lu Li sized her up—mainly her shapely, full legs encased in black stockings.

Judging by appearance, the legs are over a meter long.

Moreover, it has a good balance of fat and lean meat.

What a great pair of legs... Pshaw!

Lu Li slapped himself.

Is now the time to look at legs?!

He cautiously observed Miss Bai across from him, his tone tinged with helplessness. "Big sister, why are you fixated on me? I admit I'm handsome, but there are plenty of people who are only slightly less attractive than me. Why sacrifice a sapling for a towering tree like me? Don't you think so?"

Miss Bai covered her mouth and chuckled, "Mr. Lu, you're just saying these witty things to please me. I wasn't interested in you at first, but your little tricks have successfully seduced me."

Lu Li: "..."

He sighed. "It seems you're not going to let me off the hook."

Lu Li tightened his grip on the small axe in his hand.

Now, only this hand axe can give him a tiny bit of security.

"Mr. Lu, are you going to resist?" Miss Bai, dressed as a policewoman, tilted her head. "The most glorious day in a person's life is not the day of achieving fame and success. It is the day when one rises from sorrow and despair to have the desire to challenge life and bravely steps towards that challenge."

"Mr. Lu, I like you even more now~~"

"..." Lu Li remained silent.

He suddenly stared wide-eyed at what was behind Bai Muli, his expression one of terror.

Bai Muli subconsciously turned around.

Behind her was an empty underground parking lot, nothing else.

Puff-!

An axe struck her squarely on the head!

Blood splattered everywhere!

She turned back, gave Lu Li a playful smile, and said, "Mr. Lu, you always manage to come up with something new and interesting!"

Looking at Bai Muli, whose head was cleaved by an axe and was still gushing blood, Lu Li suddenly sighed and sat down on the ground. "Whatever, I give up."

How can we run now!

He fled.

She chased after him.

He has no way to escape.

There will always be areas in life that are beyond your control, but if you do your best within the scope of your capabilities, that's already very good.

Bai Muli, with an axe balanced on his head, knelt on one knee in front of Lu Li, then took a cigarette from Lu Li's pocket, put it in his mouth, lit it with a lighter, and finally put the cigarette back to Lu Li's lips.

"I don't dislike Mr. Lu for giving his all like this~~"

Feeling the slightly moist cigarette filter in his mouth, Lu Li's gaze unconsciously lingered on the gap between Miss Bai's legs.

Beneath the black stockings, a certain color was faintly visible.

It appears to be made of purple lace?

wrong!

Is now the time to watch this?!

He sat on the ground, a cigarette dangling from his lips, staring with dead fish eyes. "You've got a whole repertoire of words. You want to take the postgraduate entrance exam?"

Miss Bai, who was half-squatting in front of him, couldn't stop smiling. "Mr. Lu, you don't seem to be afraid of me anymore."

"I'm scared, I'm terrified." Lu Li smiled, "Unfortunately, I discovered your weakness."

That's right! Everything that happened here was just an illusion!

This wasn't because Lu Li was out of his mind and trying to escape reality; rather, he had concrete evidence.

That's the car's speed!

He observed that his speed remained around 70 kilometers per hour throughout the journey.

Even so, coupled with running red lights all the way, it was impossible for him to get home in ten minutes!

Besides, it only took five minutes to get there!

Even flying close to the ground wouldn't be this fast!

Moreover, given his personality, he would never drive at more than 70 kilometers per hour in the city.

The route is wrong!

But all the intersections he remembered were correct, and the details of the underground parking lot were exactly the same as he remembered.

Therefore, there is only one answer!

This is an illusion!

Lu Li fell backward and lay on the ground in the shape of the character "奆".

"Whatever, I'm going to sleep now."

Lu Li closed his eyes.

The next moment, he felt a dizzying sensation as the world spun around him.

He opened his eyes to a familiar ceiling—the ceiling of his own bedroom.

"It really was just a dream."

Sitting up, Lu Li gave a self-deprecating laugh, then reached for a cigarette on the bedside table, wanting to sober up.

I unplugged my phone from the charging cable to check for any news.

"Where's my lighter?"

The Zippo lighter on the bedside table was nowhere to be seen, so Lu Li reached under the bed to look for it and unlocked his phone with his fingerprint.

I looked under the bedside table but didn't see the lighter.

Sitting back on the bed, Lu Li first put the cigarette back on the bedside table, then glanced at his phone's home screen.

Then, his gaze froze.

His phone wallpaper has changed.

The picture above shows a beautiful woman smiling radiantly while making a peace sign.

Bai Muli.
