Chapter 18

Infiltrating the Royal Capital

Chapter 18 Infiltrating the Royal Capital

Walpo really has anorexia?!

This surprised Suzuki somewhat.

The tyrannical king of Drum Island who only knows how to eat all the time in the future is now refusing to eat the Devil Fruit that is offered to him?

"Let me tell you, young man, there's also that village to the north."

"..."

The hotel owner was still talking enthusiastically, and Suzuki, seeing this, didn't rush to interrupt his incessant chatter.

He temporarily set aside his other thoughts, his face calm and his expression serious as he patiently waited for the hotel owner to finish speaking.

"Oh, and... cough cough."

The hotel owner had been talking for almost half an hour, and his throat was probably dry. Suzuki looked at the water glass he was holding, handed it back to the hotel owner, and smiled.

"Boss, would you like a glass of water?"

The hotel owner looked embarrassed, scratched his head awkwardly with his right hand, and smiled sheepishly.

"Hahaha, look at me! Oh, thank you, no need, no need. Never mind, I'll just go get a glass myself later, hahaha~"

Suzuki replied with a light laugh:

"Alright, boss, do you have a tavern here? I'm going out for a walk."

The hotel owner smiled and nodded, then said to Suzuki:

"Yes, I came back from there before, haha. The tavern is a few hundred meters to the left after you go out. By the way, our dinner is around 7 pm. If you're not eating out, remember to come back early."

Suzuki smiled and nodded, thanked the boss, then picked up the cotton-padded coat he had placed on the back of the chair. Seeing a newspaper on the table, he picked it up and placed the cup on the table.

Upon opening the door, Suzuki was immediately met with a biting cold wind, and before him stretched an endless expanse of white.

He stuffed the newspaper into his cotton-padded coat, tightened the collar, and headed towards the mountain peaks of the capital.

The mountain is called Cinnamon Peak, and Cinnamon Island is named after the mountain.

Along the way, he also encountered some interesting creatures, which he vaguely remembered were rabbits called "Laban" in the original story.

Because the village was not far from the capital, he soon arrived at the foot of the mountain leading to the capital.

Suzuki stood at the foot of the mountain, looking up at the towering cliffs that seemed to reach into the clouds.

Most mountains are conical in shape, meaning they are thicker at the base and smaller at the top, making them relatively easier to climb.

But Mount Cigu is different. It is cylindrical, with the same thickness from top to bottom, and the surrounding cliffs are almost all straight, making it extremely difficult to climb. The capital city is located on the summit of this mountain.

Looking at the towering cliffs that seemed to reach into the clouds, and touching the smooth rock face, Suzuki stood quietly in thought for a while.

After circling the mountain a few times and surveying the surrounding area, they returned to the village, ready to check out the tavern.

Soon, Suzuki arrived at the tavern.

As soon as he entered, he found that there were quite a few people here. All sorts of people were gathered around the table, drinking and chatting, and the noise and commotion followed.

"Oh, Blanche, I'm so sad..."

"Hahaha, come on, Morishima, bottoms up..."

"..."

"Robbie, what brings you here today?"

Suzuki squinted, his keen senses picking up on a phrase that might be related to his purpose.

With a gentle smile on his face, he casually glanced around as he walked toward the bar, noticing that the voices were coming from a group of tattooed, burly men drinking and chatting together.

Suzuki ordered a glass of rum at the bar, took the glass to a nearby table, took out a newspaper from his coat, sat down quietly, and listened attentively to their conversation.

"Hahaha, I never expected the King to send me down to buy food. This is a perfect opportunity to have a drink with you all!"

"Great job, Robbie! You're in luck. How about you treat us to a drink?"

"Haha, it's my treat!"

"I heard the prince's symptoms are getting worse, and so many doctors can't do anything about it?"

"No, and I'm telling you, the king is planning to force the prince to eat a Devil Fruit!"

"Oh? Really?"

"real!"

"That Devil Fruit is called the Gluttony Fruit, right? It can cure anorexia if you eat it?"

"Who knows? But the power of Devil Fruits is truly amazing; perhaps it can heal the prince."

"..."

"Okay, okay, I'm going to buy food now~"

"Okay, Robbie, come drink again sometime!"

The group was about to leave when Suzuki remained seated, leisurely sipping his rum, until Robbie opened the door. At that moment, he stood up and followed him.

As they left the inn, Suzuki silently followed behind Robbie, watching him from afar as he bought food and prepared to pull his sled to the capital.

Suzuki hid beforehand on the cable car route that Robbie was taking to the capital.

In a secluded corner, having silently calculated the time, Suzuki calmly and gently placed an apple on the ground.

Then it suddenly rushed out and knocked Robbie, who was pulling a sled with a large amount of food, to the ground, scattering much of the food on the snow.

"Oh, I'm so sorry, are you alright?"

Suzuki said apologetically.

Robbie's face was filled with anger, which did not subside even after hearing Suzuki's apology. He angrily yelled at Suzuki:

"Are you out of your mind? This is food prepared for the prince, don't you know that?"

Suzuki's face was filled with panic:

"Oh? What should we do? Let me pick it up for you~"

Robbie's eyes darted around, and he said with a feigned threat:

"What's the use of picking it up? It's dirty on the ground. Would a prince eat something so filthy?"

Suzuki's face showed even more panic:

"Then...I, I..."

Robbie seemed quite pleased with Suzuki's expression, a hint of smugness in his eyes, while maintaining a fierce look on his face as he threatened Suzuki:

"What do you mean, 'what ...' pay up! 100,000 Berries, you know you have to buy it all over again?'"

Suzuki's expression shifted several times, first reluctant, then fearful, and finally pleading with Robbie with a pitiful look:

"How much is it? Could you lower the price? I came here for medical treatment, and I only brought a little money with me..."

Robbie's face remained nonchalant, his expression still fierce.

"This is all food supplied exclusively to the royal family, costing 100,000 Berries, not a penny less!"

Then he glanced at the food on the snow in front of him, even noticing the apples around the corner, pointed to the cable car route leading to the capital city at the mountaintop, and said fiercely:

"Pick up everything on the ground, put it back neatly, and then push it over there!"

"This...this, I'll pay you after I pick it up..."

Suzuki looked like he was about to cry, but he still squatted down and picked up the food.

Upon reaching the corner, Suzuki suddenly grabbed the apple and ran. Seeing Suzuki's figure disappear around the corner, Robbie quickly chased after him, but only found an apple at the far end of the corner.

Robbie, his face contorted with resentment, spat on the ground and angrily cursed into the empty alleyway.

"Damn brat, I better not run into you again, or I'll beat you to death! Another 100,000 Berries gone, damn it!"

Despite his anger, Robbie picked up the apple and went back to the sled.

Before long, Robbie arrived at the cable car station, pulling his sled with a disgruntled expression. After saying goodbye to the staff, he took his food and boarded the cable car to the royal capital at the top of the mountain...
