Chapter 5

Leaving the Desert Island

Chapter 5 Leaving the Desert Island

The world of One Piece, a deserted island.

Suzuki has been picnicking for a month straight.

He tried the few kinds of fruit that were available in the forest several times, and finally chose the apple as his dessert.

On the shore of the deserted island, various kinds of seafood often crawl out of the sand.

Every now and then, he would catch some animals in the forest or pick up a few unknown bird eggs.

During the month he spent on the deserted island, he still maintained about ten hours of training every day!

Then, you'll spend several hours on the beach, enjoying the slightly fishy sea breeze, waiting for the boat.

It also serves as a way to relax and rest after training.

For sleeping, Suzuki used some usable planks left over from the damaged stern of the ship.

At the edge of the forest, a simple wooden house was built, leaning against a few fruit trees.

It has to be said that the weather in the world of One Piece is truly unpredictable!

During this month, Suzuki experienced both sunny days with temperatures reaching nearly 50 degrees Celsius and torrential rain and strong winds that resembled a massive flood.

While sleeping, I was sometimes startled awake by sudden drops in temperature and the roof collapsing under the weight of snow.

I even encountered a hailstorm once...

Such strange weather led Suzuki to conclude that the deserted island was probably not located on the Four Seas, but on the Grand Line.

I just don't know whether it's the paradise in the first half or the new world in the second half...

Today is Suzuki's thirty-fifth day living on the deserted island.

As usual, after completing his training program, he went to the coast to wait for the ship that could take him away from the deserted island.

After several more hours of waiting, just as Suzuki was about to turn and leave the beach,

A small black dot appeared on the azure sea! The small black dot gradually grew larger and larger.

"What is this... a ship!"

Suzuki was slightly surprised.

"Finally, it's here!"

However, he did not choose to ask for help directly because he did not know whether the ship coming was a merchant ship, a naval warship, or a pirate ship.

If it were the first two, that would be fine. But if it were a pirate ship, in this sea area that might be the Grand Line, whether it's Paradise or the New World, it doesn't yet have the strength to kill pirates head-on.

So Suzuki took out several stones he had prepared beforehand, polished into kunai-like shapes, and a sharpened twig from his pocket. He slowly approached the reef, using it as cover, and calmly watched the ship grow larger.

Gradually, the ship got closer and closer to the deserted island.

Suzuki saw it clearly: there was no pirate flag, and it didn't look like a warship; it was a merchant ship!

However, the merchant ship seemed to be heading directly to the next island. After approaching the deserted island, it did not get any closer, but instead gradually moved away.

Suzuki quickly jumped onto the reef from behind it, tore off part of his shirt and hung it on a tree branch to make a flagpole, which he then waved toward the merchant ship...

Over there, the merchant ship seemed to have spotted Suzuki on the reef. After pausing for a moment, a small wooden boat sailed towards the deserted island.

The small wooden boat soon arrived at the deserted island. There was only one middle-aged man on the boat. He was very tall, roughly estimated to be nearly three meters tall, with broad shoulders and a thick waist, and a rather rugged appearance.

The small wooden boat stopped some distance from the shore. The middle-aged crew member did not disembark but remained seated inside, watching Suzuki with a wary expression.

Seeing this, Suzuki quietly put the stone back in his pocket, then jumped off the reef with the flagpole in hand and slowly walked toward the small wooden boat.

When they were about ten meters apart, the tall, imposing middle-aged crew member called out to Suzuki:

"Stop! Yes, don't come any closer!"

The tall, imposing middle-aged crew member seemed somewhat distrustful of Suzuki.

"Are you... a pirate?"

Suzuki understood his wariness. So he readily replied:

"No, I'm not a pirate, just an ordinary person! I encountered a torrential rain and a blizzard, and now I have no companions in this world. I've been alone on this deserted island for a long time."

The middle-aged crew member, seeing that Suzuki still looked somewhat young, breathed a sigh of relief, probably believing him. He then called out to Suzuki, "Excuse me, come aboard, kid. You know the sea is dangerous and not calm; we have to learn to protect ourselves!"

With gratitude, Suzuki replied to the middle-aged crew member, "Thank you!"

Soon, Suzuki boarded the small wooden boat. As they got closer, the middle-aged crew member could see that Suzuki looked to be no more than a teenager. The crew member completely lowered his guard, and the small wooden boat rowed toward the merchant ship.

Soon, the small wooden boat rowed to the vicinity of the merchant ship, and Suzuki boarded the ship along with the middle-aged crew member.

After boarding, the middle-aged crew member gave a brief introduction of Suzuki to his fellow passengers on the merchant ship, and Suzuki expressed his gratitude to everyone!

The merchant ships then continued sailing on the vast ocean.

On the deck, Suzuki felt the sea breeze and smelled the faint fishy smell. Some crew members were fishing with fishing rods, chatting and laughing.

Listening to the conversations of the crew members on the merchant ship, he roughly learned some new information about the pirate world.

The deserted island where he lived for a month was actually not far from Alabasta.

It should be July 5th, 1496 in the Sea Calendar now. More than a year has passed since the Battle of Advar, the great battle between the Golden Lion and Roger, which he read in the newspaper.

This merchant ship is traveling from the maritime city of Water City to Alabasta. It's unclear what it sells, but Suzuki guesses it's probably related to freshwater.

Another major event that happened this year is that the famous Roger Pirates have gained another crew member, and according to news reports, that crew member was previously a member of the Whitebeard Pirates!

The news even confidently stated that the Whitebeard Pirates and the Roger Pirates had already formed an alliance in secret!

Then there are some rumors and gossip.

For example, Tom, the world's number one shipbuilder in Water City, seems to have a close relationship with a very beautiful mermaid!

Meanwhile, Franky, that mischievous kid from Water 7 who likes to do strange things, seems to be highly regarded by Master Tom and might be taken as his disciple!

Furthermore, the place they visited this time is said to be where Crown Prince Naferutali Cobra of Alabasta refused his father's order to take a concubine for the fifth time, and declared that he would only ever love his wife, Naferutali Titi!

Then came a series of ordinary little things. Like whose dog had puppies, whose cat was stealing food from the neighbor's house again, and whose pumpkins were growing exceptionally well this year.

Suzuki stood quietly to the side, listening intently to everything, including the so-called mundane family matters, trivialities, and obviously boastful exaggerations.

Before long, the captain of the merchant ship came to the deck.

The captain was an elderly man with black hair, about 1.9 meters tall, wearing a dark blue overcoat. Despite being an elderly man, he walked with a more rugged gait than the crew members.

He was walking towards Suzuki at that moment.

"Haha, hello, I'm Ethan, the captain of this ship." Captain Ethan extended a hand to Suzuki.

"Hello, Captain Ethan, my name is Suzuki." Suzuki shook hands with the elderly captain named Ethan.

"I know, Suzuki. Our dinner will be ready soon, shall we go and have some?" Captain Ethan invited Suzuki.

"Um, thank you! But I don't have any money on me right now," Suzuki replied somewhat embarrassedly.

"Hmph, look at them, these are all the fish that lazy guys caught in the sea." Captain Ethan pointed at a burly crewman who was pulling up a fishing rod with all his might.

"Quickly, this fish must be huge! Captain, I'll take it to the galley for you later!" A crew member was pulling hard on the bent fishing rod.

Captain Ethan roared, "The galley is already overflowing! You bastard!"

"Hey, Captain, don't say that! We're just giving you extra food." Some of the other crew members sitting on deck fishing responded with laughter.

Captain Ethan sighed and turned back to Suzuki, "These brats are just outrageous."

As he spoke, as if reminiscing about something, he said, "Hmph, back when I was still in the Navy..."

Along the way, Suzuki listened to Captain Ethan's nostalgic words as he arrived at the restaurant.

After the meal, Captain Ethan told Suzuki that they would have about three more days of sailing time to reach their next island, Alabasta.

He asked Suzuki if he wanted to disembark there, and if he needed to go home, he could tell his partner at the port or the navy.

Suzuki stated that he was currently alone, so he would disembark in Alabasta.

Soon, three days passed, and Alabasta was almost within reach.
