A Long Journey and Speculations about Abilities

Chapter 22 A Long Journey and Speculations about Abilities

A ship sails on the azure sea.

Suzuki was the captain of the ship, and he also employed some sailors.

A few days ago, when Suzuki arrived at the port of Drum Island, he found that it was actually a bit difficult to leave Drum Island quickly, because there were not merchant ships at the port all the time.

In order to leave as soon as possible, Suzuki spent a lot of money to buy a boat. The boat was not big, only 10 meters long and four or five meters high.

This ship cost Suzuki 30 million pesos.

However, since he had already eaten a Devil Fruit, he didn't really want to ride in a small boat anymore. The small boat couldn't withstand too much wind and waves, and it would be terrible if it capsized.

Devil Fruit users cannot swim. Once they come into contact with seawater, or rather, as more and more parts of their bodies come into contact with seawater, their physical strength and abilities will decrease until they become completely powerless.

Even if Suzuki has chakra that allows him to walk on water, it would be difficult to avoid this negative impact.

Although chakra can form a kind of armor attached to the body, that kind of almost materialized chakra consumes too much chakra.

Chakra is essentially an invisible and intangible energy. Whether it's walking on water or climbing trees, it's all done by utilizing the adhesive properties generated by chakra, much like gravity.

When wading through water, your feet actually make physical contact with the water.

Of course, Suzuki usually wears shoes, so he can still wade through water, but the risk is much greater than before.

After that, Suzuki bought some food, some metal, hired several sailors, and spent millions of Berries.

The weather in the waters near Cigu Island is very bad, with frequent blizzards.

The blizzard was accompanied by some waves, and the ship rocked back and forth like a small animal about to fall into the tiger's mouth, but it was still fighting against the sea.

Suzuki sat on the deck of the cabin, watching the sailors he had hired skillfully maneuver the ship, and couldn't help but sigh in admiration:

"This money was well spent. Otherwise, with my sailing skills, I would probably have capsized very quickly if I went out to sea alone."

Then, Suzuki watched the falling snowflakes, reached out and caught some, thinking about the rest of the journey and their destination:

"It's quite far; crossing the Grand Line is indeed no easy task."

The distance between the Grand Line and the four seas is difficult to cross.

To travel from the four seas to the Grand Line, one must cross the Reverse Mountain; if one is not careful, the ship will be smashed to pieces by the violent ocean currents against the rock walls.

Reverse Mountain is basically a one-way street; to return to the Four Seas from Reverse Mountain, one must go against the current, which is much more difficult than crossing the Calm Belt directly.

The best way to return to the seas from the Grand Line is actually to go to the Sabaody Archipelago and then take the special passageway through Mary Geoise.

This is a passage reserved for the World Government and the Navy, but some merchant ships are also allowed to pass through at other times, though a very high toll will be charged.

So Suzuki isn't heading towards the Reverse Mountain or the Calm Belt, but rather towards the Sabaody Archipelago.

Two days have passed since he left Drum Island, and the journey from Drum Island to Sabaody will take at least another month.

The long journey has only just begun.

With about ten days left before his second return, and still quite some time before reaching Sabaody Archipelago, Suzuki decided to take advantage of this time to experiment with and hone the abilities of the Gluttony Fruit.

He rose from the bench in front of the cabin and addressed the hired sailors:

"The blizzard should be stopping soon, right? Thank you for your help. I'm going to my room to rest now. If you get hungry later, there's food in the refrigerator in the kitchen."

Several experienced sailors, seeing the blizzard gradually subside, breathed a sigh of relief and shouted to Suzuki with smiles:

"Haha, okay, thank you, Mr. Suzuki~"

Suzuki waved behind him and then went back to his room.

After closing the doors and windows, he took out some odds and ends from under the bed, including hemp rope, cement, and even plastic bottles.

Then, Suzuki opened his mouth, and then opened it wider and wider, spitting out some metal he had bought at the port of Drum Island.

The Swallow Fruit is indeed very powerful. The metal scattered all over the ground piled up like a small mountain, and its weight alone exceeded 10 tons.

However, Suzuki did not feel like he was carrying 10 tons of weight, or even more.

Looking at the metal, Suzuki felt a pang of emotion:

"It's a pity we're at sea now, so we can't test the limits of the volume and weight of the swallowed object. Otherwise, we could find out how big that unknown space that the Swallow-Swallow Fruit swallowed was."

Thinking of this, Suzuki suddenly remembered that Rivalpo had swallowed him in the original story and then turned into a strange iron barrel.

He couldn't help but think that he could give this method a try and see how it goes.

Then, Suzuki opened his mouth again, but this time it wasn't to swallow anything else; instead, his mouth strangely enveloped himself.

As Suzuki was completely swallowed by his own mouth, his body vanished into thin air, leaving only his mouth behind.

"That's amazing!"

Suzuki sighed.

He is now actually in the alternate dimension where he was eaten by the Devouring Fruit. It is dark and the space is vast, with no end in sight.

But what's even more surprising is that Suzuki's mouth is still outside; the rest of his body is in another dimension.

However, this state of separating his body parts did not cause him any harm; he could even speak.

Recalling the original story, after Rivalpo ate himself, he also left behind a mouth, but Rivalpo's chin was fitted with a large iron barrel, which is why it looked like an iron barrel.

Moreover, after Wapol came out of here, his originally chubby figure became tall and thin.

This change even seemed so natural that Suzuki couldn't understand it at all before he ate the Gluttony Fruit.

Wapol's ability to control his powers so well? Can he only eat fat and nothing else?

How did she manage to change so naturally between being fat and thin, without any wrinkles on her skin after normal weight loss?

Now that Suzuki himself possesses the Gluttony Fruit and has even entered this strange space, he understands something.

The Swallow Fruit is essentially a type of spatial ability!

His mouth and body were clearly not in the same place, yet he felt no discomfort, which was obviously very similar to Trafalgar Law's Ope Fruit later on.

Suzuki guessed:

"The Gluttony Fruit is likely similar to the so-called Op-Op Fruit. Their names don't seem to have anything to do with space, but most of their abilities are precisely those of the two fruits that demonstrate the most perfect control over space."

It is indeed very likely that the Room from the Operation Fruit can almost perfectly control a portion of space.

The Swallow-Swallow Fruit also grants near-perfect control over the internal space!
