Chapter 7

The Temptation of Devil Fruits

Chapter 7 The Temptation of Devil Fruits

After Suzuki regained some of his chakra, he transformed into a fierce pirate captain.

They searched the room again for any useful information, but unfortunately, all they found was treasure!

Suzuki had already guessed this, after all, only a very small number of pirates are cultured.

Some became pirates at sea just to survive, and then turned brutal.

Others were already brutal, and then went to sea to become pirates.

Both of them only pursue the ultimate enjoyment, and have no other desires besides wealth and beautiful women!

Having found nothing of useful information in the room, Suzuki picked up the "Devil Fruit" that had fallen to the ground, blew on it, and with a sinister smile on his face, pushed open the door.

"captain!"

"Boss!"

"Boss!"

"captain!"

……

Suzuki, now transformed into a fierce pirate captain, walked around the pirate ship, retracing his steps, until he reached the deck.

Suzuki stood at the very front of the deck, his expression grim as he looked at the group of pirates standing on it. In a hoarse, chilling voice, he said:

"Have we gotten this far already?!"

The pirates on the deck looked at each other, but dared not speak.

Looking at the suddenly quiet deck, Suzuki's face darkened, and he spoke again in a hoarse, chilling voice:

"I said! We've gotten this far already!"

At this moment, one of the pirates, a man with a dreadlock, stepped forward and, his voice trembling, answered the captain, who seemed inexplicably unhappy:

"The ship, the captain, and... there are still a few in the cabin!"

Upon hearing that some pirates were not on deck, Suzuki's face darkened. He then casually pointed at two pirates and commanded:

"You! And you! Call them all here! Remember! Not one less!"

"Yes, boss!"

"Yes, boss!"

The two pirates quickly summoned the other pirates from the cabin to the deck.

The pirates were all confused and bewildered, wondering why their captain had called them together.

Seeing that the two pirates had stopped moving, Suzuki asked in a hoarse, menacing voice:

"You've called them all?"

The two pirates replied with some fear:

"Yes, yes, boss, but..."

"Boss, only Erliba isn't here. He might be in your room, so..."

Suzuki's expression was somber, but his mind was calmly focused on his thoughts:

Thirty-seven pirates? The fact that he could casually promise such a thing to the second mate, Erliba, shows how much authority he has on the ship.

But since he wasn't the first mate, it means there's someone else on board who is either highly trusted or quite capable!

When I questioned them earlier, all the pirates on deck were afraid of me, except for that guy with the filthy braid who stood up.

There were seven pirates who came out of the cabin, and the first mate was among these eight people!

Suzuki's face was grim as he looked at the people on the deck and said coldly:

"Never mind Erliba, he's dead!"

A slight commotion arose among the pirates on deck:

"Is Erliba dead?"

"Why? What did Erliba do?"

Upon hearing this news, the bald man who had been with Erliba on the deck was so frightened that his hair stood on end!

He knew that Iriba had come to deliver the Devil Fruit! But why, why did the captain kill Iriba? Was it because of the Devil Fruit?

The bald man even wanted to go back to the cabin; the sea breeze on the deck was too strong, making him break out in a cold sweat.

Suzuki glanced at the bald man, seemingly ignoring him, and continued to look at the numerous pirates on the deck, coldly saying:

"Erliba! He killed Ah Hu! He killed our comrade!"

"He arbitrarily decided the lives of my crew members! This is unforgivable!"

"Now, do you understand why Erliba died?" Suzuki turned around and stared at the bald man again.

The bald man seemed to realize something, yet also seemed incredulous.

Suzuki pointed at the bald man again and continued:

"You, yes! It's you, come up here!"

The bald man pointed to himself, and after confirming that it was indeed him, he cautiously walked to Suzuki's side.

Suzuki patted the bald man on the shoulder and said with a forced smile:

"However, Erliba gave me something before he died! You know that, right?"

The bald man desperately wanted to wipe the cold sweat from his forehead, but could only answer nervously:

"Yes, yes..."

"So, what is it? Do you know?" Suzuki asked with a half-smile.

The bald man trembled slightly: "No, I don't know."

Suzuki also pulled a fruit out of his pocket:

"It's a Devil Fruit!"

"See that? Once you eat it, you'll have power. With power, countless treasures await you, and you can snatch any beautiful woman you desire. Your name will resound across the seas! Tell me, do you want it?"

Many pirates' eyes lit up with greed the moment they saw the Devil Fruit, and after hearing the words, a sudden commotion broke out on the deck.

Soon, the man with the dreadlocks suddenly stepped forward and cautiously inquired of Suzuki:

"The ship, Captain, is that... is that Devil Fruit for us to eat?"

Suzuki immediately realized that the man with the dreadlocks was probably the first mate.

Moreover, it's highly likely that he didn't become the first mate because of his abilities, but rather because of his connections!

If even the first mate is this kind of scum, then there probably aren't any other powerful figures among the remaining pirates.

Then, he pondered in his mind: "The dreadlocked man didn't ask 'me' if I wanted to eat a Devil Fruit. Does that mean the captain of this pirate ship previously possessed a Devil Fruit ability? I just don't know what kind of ability it was."

Thoughts raced through his mind. Seeing the many eager and greedy eyes on the deck, Suzuki's smile deepened, and he immediately gave a firm answer:

"Yes, I'm going to give it to one of you!"

Then, before anyone could even express their surprise, he loudly proclaimed:

"but!"

"You need to make me feel that this priceless Devil Fruit won't be wasted on some good-for-nothing!"

"Remember! Treasures must be possessed by those who are worthy of them!"

After saying that, Suzuki stared at the man with the dreadlocks and asked in a hoarse voice:

"Which pirate crews are nearby? Tell me their bounties, from highest to lowest!"

Although the first mate with the dreadlocks wasn't very strong, he was trusted by the pirate captain, so he must have some skills, such as a good memory.

He didn't know why Suzuki was asking these questions, but it didn't matter, as long as he could please the captain.

Thinking this, the dreadlocked man immediately replied with a fawning smile, "Captain, I know seven pirate crews nearby! The Squid Pirates, their captain is Jack Jeb, who can transform into an octopus and spew out black ink, and his bounty is 23 million Berries! It's said that he once single-handedly wiped out a small town in the West Blue!"

"There's also the Bone Spike Pirates. Their captain is Tull Arion, a guy who wields a sword, and his bounty is 18 million Berries! They haven't been here long, so we haven't heard anything specific about their exploits yet."

……

"Finally, there's the Bloodhammer Pirates. Their captain is Nigel Braun, a super strongman, and his bounty is 8.5 million Berries!"

After listening, Suzuki made up his mind. Looking at the many pirates on the deck, all of them were now looking at him with expectant eyes and their heads held high.

So he said firmly:

"Find the Bloodhammer Pirates now! Immediately!"

"I've picked the worst opponent you could ever hope for!"

"If you can cleanly and efficiently deal with those losers, and if anyone performs to my satisfaction in this battle, this Devil Fruit belongs to him!"

"So, now! Immediately! Find the Bloodhammer Pirates! Then, crush them!"

The pirates on deck responded excitedly: "Yes, Captain!"
