Chapter 10

Wen Qiaoan

Lin Xun half-carried, half-held Yu Fuli and stumbled into the place that had a sign for a medical clinic but was actually like a small hospital. By then, it was completely dark.

As soon as the door was pushed open, a nurse rushed to greet her.

"What happened? Where are you hurt?"

Yu Fuli barely managed to raise her uninjured arm, her voice weak and hoarse: "...I bumped into something by accident."

The nurse's gaze swept over the unnatural bend in his arm, and her expression suddenly froze.

This is clearly a fracture caused by a heavy object hitting it; it's not the kind of injury that could be caused by a collision.

She had worked at the school for more than a year or two and had seen too many similar scenes.

Those lower-ranking students, covered in bruises, always kept their heads down and repeated in hoarse voices, "I fell down myself."

But those are, after all, students.

And the person in front of me...

The nurse's gaze fell on Yu Fuli's pale face, and her heart sank.

Even teachers... couldn't escape it?

She suppressed the tightness in her chest, not exposing the clumsy lie, and quickly turned to lead the way: "Follow me, we'll take an X-ray first." Then she looked at Lin Xun, who had been silently supporting her, and said, "Hold on tight, let's use this private passage."

"bite--"

The elevator doors slowly opened.

Wen Qiaoan looked up and was caught off guard by a pair of eyes.

He had seen that face on Jiang Yu's phone screen just this morning.

The real person is right in front of me now.

"Dr. Wen, just got off work?" A nurse standing nearby greeted him casually, noticing he was wearing his usual uniform.

Everyone in the hospital knows that Dr. Wen is a bit of a germaphobe; his white coat is always spotless, and he always changes back into his own clothes after get off work.

"Mmm." Wen Qiaoan responded lightly, but her gaze seemed to casually sweep over the pale-faced man being supported. "A patient has arrived?"

"The initial assessment is a fracture; we need to get an X-ray as soon as possible to confirm..." Before the nurse could finish speaking, the phone in her hand rang. She answered and listened for a few minutes, her expression immediately showing some difficulty.

"What's wrong?" Wen Qiaoan asked gently.

"The head nurse has an urgent matter and needs me to go, but this patient..."

The nurse held her phone, glanced at Yu Fuli's arm hanging limply at her side, and hesitated for a moment.

"Leave it to me." Wen Qiaoan smiled and said in a gentle voice, "I happen to have some free time right now."

"Really? Thank you so much, Dr. Wen!" The nurse's eyes lit up, and she looked relieved.

The phone in my palm vibrated again, urging me on.

"Go ahead and get busy." Wen Qiaoan stepped aside and nodded slightly to her.

The nurse thanked her hurriedly and walked quickly towards the elevator. The metal doors slowly closed, shutting out the last bit of noise.

The corridor fell silent instantly, with only the faint light from the overhead signs illuminating the suppressed, heavy breathing of those around them.

Wen Qiaoan turned around, her gaze quietly falling on that person.

"Teacher Yu is badly injured," Wen Qiaoan said, her gaze falling on his visibly deformed arm, her tone as gentle as ever, "How did this happen?"

Yu Fuli was slightly taken aback upon hearing this, and raised her pale face to look at him: "You know me?"

He had only been at the school for a few days and didn't consider himself well-known, let alone to the doctors in the infirmary.

"How could I not recognize you?" Wen Qiaoan's lips curved into a very faint smile, her voice clear and gentle like a cool spring. "Teacher Yu is quite the celebrity at the school now."

He didn't directly answer Yu Fuli's question, but he wasn't wrong either.

Yu Fuli has indeed been in the eye of the storm lately.

On his first day of teaching, he gave the entire class a hard time and even openly offended Yunbai, the S-level student.

Even more surprisingly, he managed to escape unscathed.

Then he did a series of surprising things: using some unknown method, he managed to make the president of Yunbai's fan club turn against him.

The president of the fan club quickly gained a group of followers within the club by using a video of Yu Fuli fighting.

All of this was like a series of resounding slaps to Yunbai's face.

It should be noted that the last person who mistakenly trespassed into Yunbai's private area has long since disappeared from this world.

It means disappearing completely and cleanly in every sense of the word.

But Yu Fuli is still standing here perfectly fine.

On Yunbai's side, there was not a single sign that they intended to pursue the matter.

Wen Qiaoan didn't continue speaking, but simply stared at the forehead of the person in front of her, which was covered in fine sweat from the pain, her eyes deepening.

"Really?" Yu Fuli forced a pale smile. "My fame has spread quickly; even the doctors in the infirmary have heard of me."

Wen Qiaoan was slightly taken aback upon hearing this, then a hint of helplessness appeared in her eyes, and she gently shook her head: "Professor Yu probably doesn't know, but I am actually a student of the academy as well."

He took a half step forward, extended his hand under the cool corridor lights, palm up, his posture calm and composed. "Let's get to know each other again. I am Wen Qiaoan."

His voice remained gentle, yet it was like a pebble thrown into a deep pool—

【bite--!】

A cold, mechanical voice exploded in the depths of Yu Fuli's mind without warning.

[Key figure detected: Wen Qiaoan, one of the F4 members.]

The air seemed to freeze at that moment.

"...Hello, Wen."

Yu Fuli's eyelashes trembled almost imperceptibly for a moment, then she extended her uninjured right hand and gently shook hands with him.

The moment their palms touched, the cool temperature of the other person's fingertips was clearly felt.

"Teacher Yu's name is quite unique." Wen Qiaoan withdrew her hand, her tone revealing no other meaning; it sounded like a casual greeting.

"My parents just took it casually," Yu Fuli said casually, his voice lower and hoarseer than usual due to the pain.

The two chatted casually, their tone as relaxed as if they were talking about everyday matters.

The corridor wasn't long, and the sound of footsteps echoed in the open space. Soon, they arrived at the door of the examination room.

Wen Qiaoan opened the door for him, her movements naturally drawing him to her lower back, leading him to the instrument.

His operation was skillful and efficient; he adjusted the equipment, located the injury, and didn't say a word unnecessary throughout the entire process.

When the cold mechanical object touched her skin, Yu Fuli instinctively tensed her back.

"It'll be done soon." Wen Qiaoan's voice came from behind the control panel, steady and reassuring.

The film was shot quickly in silence.

When the lights came back on, Wen Qiaoan stared at the clear image on the screen, her gaze slightly narrowed.

Wen Qiaoan's gaze lingered on the X-ray for a moment.

The cold light from the screen reflected in his eyes, making the gentle lake surface appear somewhat deep and mysterious.

The image of the fractured bone is clear and striking, but what is even more striking is the unusually extensive bruising and damage to the surrounding soft tissue.

This could not have been caused by a simple impact.

He tapped his fingertips lightly on the edge of the control panel, a gesture he often made when he was thinking.

"The situation is a bit more complicated than I expected." Wen Qiaoan turned around, her face still bearing that gentle expression.

"Besides the obvious fractures of the radius and ulna, the surrounding nerves and blood vessels have likely also suffered considerable compression and damage. Professor Yu, what you're feeling right now is probably more than just pain, isn't it?"

He took two steps closer, leaning slightly down in front of Yu Fuli, his gaze level with his: "Are your fingertips numb? Does your arm feel like it's being squeezed, burning, or completely cold and unable to exert any strength?"

"Wen's medical skills are truly superb."

Yu Fuli's words were a tacit admission that the above problems existed.

Wen Qiaoan straightened up, walked to the treatment table, and slowly prepared the splints and bandages.

"If not treated promptly, it could leave permanent functional impairments." His voice was soft, but what he said was not good. "For example, this hand might never be able to hold chalk again, or... be unable to grip what it wants to hold."

It seems to be quite serious.

Yu Fuli thought.
