Chapter 37
Jiang Yu, the Annoying Person
For several days in a row, Xiao Chi did not show up at the residence.
Yu Fuli calmed down and stopped his house-destroying spree.
His previous antics were partly motivated by a desire to annoy Xiao Chi so he could extricate himself from the situation sooner. On the other hand, it also had a degree of deliberate intent to cause trouble for that young master.
Now that the person in charge is not here, it's pointless for him to fuss over those lifeless pieces of furniture and decorations. Instead, it just adds unnecessary trouble for the servants who tidy up every day.
He flicked his tail, lay down on the sunniest patch of carpet, rested his chin on his front paws, and stared blankly out the window.
"Boom—rumble—"
The dull hum of a motorcycle engine grew louder as it approached, finally shutting down arrogantly in the courtyard.
Yu Fuli was curled up in the sunlight by the window, dozing off, when suddenly his ears twitched. He pressed his front paws down on his ears in frustration and buried his head even deeper into his arms.
It's no surprise that that annoying Jiang Yu is back again.
Ever since their last meeting, this blond young master has been visiting this villa more often than Xiao Chi, the rightful owner.
Yu Fuli pressed his ears even tighter, his bushy tail sweeping irritably across the carpet.
Sure enough, not long after, light and even somewhat cheerful footsteps approached from afar and stopped at the door of his room.
The door was symbolically knocked twice, then pushed open.
Jiang Yu's incredibly deceptive angelic face peeked in, carrying a paper bag that looked expensive and bore the logo of a high-end pet brand.
"Hello, little cutie! I've come to see you again!" He said in a light voice, walking straight in and waving at the snow-white fox under the windowsill that clearly didn't want to acknowledge him. "Look, I brought you something good!"
Yu Fuli lifted her eyelids, glanced at him coldly, then quickly closed them again, turning the back of her head towards the newcomer.
good stuff?
They were nothing more than those so-called aristocratic pet toys that he had absolutely no interest in.
Jiang Yu didn't mind his coldness; instead, he found his indifferent attitude even more amusing. He sat down on the carpet and started taking things out of the paper bag.
There was a rhinestone-encrusted toy ball that made a rustling sound, a claw post covered in top-grade deerskin, and even a small jar of fish oil snacks that were said to be produced in the deep sea, with extremely low yields and very high prices.
[Item scan complete. All items are high-end pet supplies in this world, with a market value exceeding the average family's monthly income. No directly hazardous substances.] The system reported routinely.
"Who cares?" Yu Fuli scoffed in his mind.
Jiang Yu picked up the toy ball, which was studded with tiny rhinestones and sparkled in the light, and gently rolled it toward Yu Fuli.
The inside of the sphere emitted a crisp bell-like sound and a rustling sound of paper.
The ball rolled right up to Yu Fuli, but he didn't even blink.
"Hmm? You don't like this?" Jiang Yu raised an eyebrow, then picked up the claw sharpening post covered in soft deerskin and decorated with pretty tassels. "How about this one? I noticed you always like to scratch Xiao Chi's sofa, so I specially chose this one with the same leather. Here, sharpen your claws. Do you like it?"
The tip of the yufuli's tail twitched slightly.
Grinding claw post?
Jiang Yu did bring one before, but he dug the pillar up by the roots.
Haven't you heard about this?
They even dared to send him a claw-grinding pillar.
Seeing that the fox still didn't react, Jiang Yu stroked his chin, a hint of even greater interest flashing in his azure eyes.
He suddenly leaned closer, lowering his voice as if sharing a secret: "I heard... you tore Xiao Chi's bedsheets into strips? And rolled them into balls?"
Yu Fuli's ears twitched slightly. What? I did it, you have a problem with that?
Jiang Yu laughed, a laugh tinged with a childlike mischief: "Well done! This is the first time I've ever seen someone, or rather, a pet, make him suffer this kind of injustice and even tolerate it."
He paused, his gaze lingering on the glossy, snow-white fur, his tone light yet meaningful, "I'm growing to like you more and more, little one. How about it, want to consider coming with me? I promise, I'll prepare a bigger nest for you than this, better toys than these, and absolutely no one will dare to stop you from destroying the house."
[Warning: Key figure Jiang Yu has extended an invitation that is not part of the planned storyline. Based on his behavioral patterns, this invitation carries a high degree of uncertainty and a desire for control. Accepting it will cause the mission line to deviate significantly. Risk rating: High.] The system alarm immediately sounded.
Yu Fuli finally turned its head, its dark eyes fixed on Jiang Yu. There was no bewilderment or dependence in its gaze, only a strangely human, calm, almost scrutinizing look.
Jiang Yu was slightly taken aback by that gaze.
The next second, Yu Fuli slowly stood up, strolled over to the expensive jar of fish oil snacks, and sniffed it.
Then, under Jiang Yu's expectant gaze, he stretched out his front paws and very precisely pushed the jar aside, completely ignoring it.
Then, he walked toward the brand-new claw post, circled it halfway, and suddenly raised his hind leg.
"Hey! Wait, isn't that—" Jiang Yu didn't finish her sentence.
Yu Fuli had completed his marking act. He lowered his leg and, as if nothing had happened, gracefully walked back to his favorite sunlit spot, lay down again, and closed his eyes to rest.
The entire set of movements was fluid and graceful, full of extreme contempt and a sense of asserting sovereignty.
This also shows how annoyed Yu Fuli was by Jiang Yu, that she would disregard her status and do such a thing.
Jiang Yu was stunned, staring at the valuable claw post that was now stained with some kind of liquid. His expression was first one of astonishment, then his lips slowly spread into a wide grin, and finally he burst into uncontrollable laughter.
"Hahahaha! Great! Excellent!" He laughed, slapping the carpet wildly. "You've got personality! You're so unique! From which remote mountain village did Xiao Chi dig up such a treasure like you?"
He finished laughing, wiped away the tears that had welled up in his eyes, and looked at Yu Fuli with even more intense gaze. In that light, besides interest, there seemed to be something else more complex.
"I've changed my mind," Jiang Yu muttered to himself, "Just having your fur doesn't seem enough."
Although Yu Fuli had his eyes closed, all his senses were on high alert. Jiang Yu's words, though spoken softly, were precisely caught by him, and a single hair on his tail bristled slightly.
[Host, please note that the target's interest level and danger assessment are being dynamically increased.] The system calmly announced.
"I know," Yu Fuli responded in her mind, a wild, fox-like sense of vigilance rising within her.
This Jiang Yu is more troublesome than Xiao Chi, whose toughness is outwardly obvious. He's like a cloud of sugar-coated mist, seemingly harmless and interesting, but who knows what's hidden beneath.
Jiang Yu sat for a while longer, no longer trying to tease it with toys, but occasionally glancing at Yu Fuli with a keen interest, as if admiring a rare treasure and planning how to add it to his collection.
He didn't get up until it was getting dark outside the window. He brushed off non-existent dust from his clothes and smiled at Yu Fuli, who was still pretending to be asleep. "That's all for today. See you next time, little beauty. Oh, by the way..."
He walked to the door, turned back, and added with a bright smile, "The gift is yours; do with it as you please."
The door closed gently.
Yu Fuli immediately opened her eyes, stared at the door, then glanced at the pile of ornate trash on the carpet, her eyes turning cold.
"He is unlikely to make any substantive contact in the short term, but the frequency of observations may increase," the system analysis stated.
"Let him see." Yu Fuli stood up, walked to the jar of fish oil, and this time swatted it hard with her paw, sending it rolling into the corner. "System, do you think that in the eyes of these Celestial Dragons, all living things, whether human or animal, can ultimately be priced, or skinned and dismembered to become their favorite collectibles?"
The system paused for a moment: [Based on the database of mainstream values and upper-class behavior patterns in this world, your inference has an 80% accuracy rate.]
Yu Fuli didn't say anything more.
The afterglow of the setting sun shone through the window, casting a dark red rim around him as he stood there quietly.
In the courtyard, the roar of motorcycle engines rose again, arriving arrogantly and departing arrogantly.
Yu Fuli knew that she could no longer just passively play the role of a pet.
