Chapter 27
The President's Doctor Wen Qiaoan
The car smoothly entered the heavily guarded annex area and stopped in front of the main building. Xiao Chi carefully carried the white fox, along with its coat, out and instructed the approaching servant, "Dr. Wen will be here soon. Take him directly to my medical room. No one is allowed to enter without my permission."
"Yes, young master."
The medical room was brightly lit, with various advanced medical equipment standing quietly inside.
Xiao Chi placed the white fox on the sterile table in the center and adjusted the lights to illuminate the wound more clearly.
He found a first-aid kit and carefully used sterile scissors to cut away the hair stuck with blood clots around the wound, revealing the bullet hole where the flesh underneath was torn open.
The wound was more serious than he had anticipated; the bullet didn't seem to have penetrated and might still be inside.
The amount of blood loss is also alarming.
Just as he was frowning in thought, there was a knock on the door of the medical room, which was then pushed open.
Wen Qiaoan walked in quickly, carrying a professional medical kit. She was wearing a simple shirt and trousers, with thin-rimmed glasses perched on her nose. Her temperament was still gentle, but her breathing was obviously a little unsteady, indicating that she had walked here in a hurry.
The assistant following behind him was holding onto the door frame, panting heavily.
When his gaze fell upon the unconscious white fox on the sterile table, and the shocking gunshot wounds on its body, he abruptly stopped in his tracks, and the usual gentle expression on his face was instantly replaced by astonishment.
"You came pretty fast," Xiao Chi glanced at him, "Why are you panting like that?"
Wen Qiaoan pushed up her glasses in an annoyed tone: "You were vague on the phone, only saying it was a gunshot wound. I thought..."
He didn't finish his sentence, but his meaning was clear: he thought something had happened to Xiao Chi, which was why he was rushing all the way.
It turned out to be a fox.
"What is this...?" Wen Qiaoan looked at the white creature and couldn't help but ask again.
"As you can see," Xiao Chi stepped aside to make room in front of the control panel, "a fox that's been shot. The bullet might not have come out, and it's lost a lot of blood. See what we should do."
Wen Qiaoan took a deep breath, quickly suppressing the shock and helplessness in her heart, and her professional instincts prevailed.
He put on gloves, stepped forward to carefully examine the wound, and then checked the white fox's pulse and breathing.
"It is indeed a gunshot wound, a deep wound that requires immediate surgery to remove the bullet, clean the wound, and suture it. There has been significant blood loss, so blood transfusions are necessary." He spoke quickly, already preparing instruments and medications as he spoke. "But this is a fox... blood type matching and anesthesia dosage are both issues. My current medications and treatments are mainly for humans, and using them on animals carries considerable risk."
He looked up at Xiao Chi, his eyes serious: "Are you sure you want to save him? There might be unexpected things during the process, and even if he survives, the follow-up recovery and care will be very troublesome."
Xiao Chi leaned against the equipment cabinet next to him, his gaze falling on the white fox's slightly heaving belly. Its pure white fur was stained red with blood, making it look rather fragile.
"Save them." He didn't hesitate much, his voice low but decisive, "Do whatever you can. Just tell me what you need."
Even if he couldn't save him, he had done his best.
Wen Qiaoan looked at him for two seconds, then nodded without asking any further questions. "Okay. Then help me prepare the anesthesia and estimate the dosage based on the weight. I'll try it out first. Also, contact a reliable veterinary hospital or biological laboratory to ask if they have suitable blood reserves or a special emergency treatment plan, just in case."
The atmosphere in the medical room immediately became focused and tense.
Wen Qiaoan deftly connected the white fox to a life monitor, established an intravenous line, and carefully calculated the dosage of anesthetic.
Xiao Chi cooperated by preparing various instruments and medicines according to Wen Qiaoan's instructions, while taking out his mobile phone to make a call.
Under the lights, the surgery is about to begin.
The white fox, lying on the sterile table, kept its eyes closed, completely unaware of what was about to happen.
The only sound in the medical room was the rhythmic ticking of the instruments.
Wen Qiao is focused on safety.
He held his breath and used the most delicate instruments to probe deep into the wound.
The bullet was lodged deeper than expected, close to the edge of the scapula, and could cause secondary injury or severe bleeding if not handled carefully.
Sweat beaded on his forehead, and his assistant quickly wiped it away for him.
Time passed second by second.
Finally, Wen Qiaoan moved her wrist very steadily and used tweezers to pick out a deformed metal bullet stained with blood, gently placing it into a metal dish next to her with a soft "ding".
He immediately stopped the bleeding and cleaned the wound with fluid movements, then began suturing. The needle and thread seemed to come alive in his hands, precisely cutting between the skin and flesh, leaving fine and neat sutures.
Throughout the entire process, apart from the steady fluctuations in its vital signs under the influence of anesthesia, the white fox showed no other reaction, its quietness sending a chill down one's spine.
After suturing, cover with a dressing and secure it.
Wen Qiaoan let out a long sigh of relief before straightening up and stretching her stiff neck.
"The bullet has been removed, and the blood loss is under control for now, but we still need to see if there will be any infection and how well it can heal itself." He took off his gloves and looked at the data on the monitor. "The anesthesia should wear off in about an hour or two. This period is crucial and someone needs to keep an eye on it."
Xiao Chi walked over, looked at the white fox who was still unconscious on the sterile table but whose breathing seemed to have improved slightly, and then looked at the blood-stained bullet in the plate.
"Can you find out what kind of gun this is?"
Wen Qiaoan picked up the bullet and examined it carefully under the light: "It's a very ordinary homemade gun bullet, with rough rifling marks, the kind that circulates in the black market of the lower city. It doesn't have strong penetrating power, but it's enough to kill at close range." He paused and looked at Xiao Chi, "This kind of gun is generally used to deal with people."
Xiao Chi's eyes darkened slightly.
A gun meant for humans was used on a fox?
Was it an accidental injury or intentional?
……
Sunlight filtered through the sheer curtains, casting warm dappled patterns on the soft carpet.
A young maid was half-squatting in front of the luxurious pet bed, holding an exquisite porcelain plate containing a specially prepared, bloody, top-quality steak, carefully cut into small pieces.
Her face was plastered with an almost ingratiating smile, and her voice was soft and gentle: "My little darling, please, just have a small bite? This meat is so fresh, the young master specially ordered the kitchen to prepare it..."
Nestled in front of her was a fluffy, soft white ball of fur.
Yu Fuli curled up completely in her velvet-covered nest, only the back of her head and her slightly trembling pointed ears showing. She was unmoved by the aroma of meat so close to her and the servants' pleas, and even disdainfully buried her nose deeper into the ground.
Who wants to eat this bloody stuff!
He rolled his eyes inwardly.
He's a fox spirit who's become a master! A fox spirit with taste and style!
Even if it gets injured and reveals its true form, its taste buds are still at a human level!
He wants it cooked! He wants it seasoned! He wants spicy rabbit head, roasted chicken, and iced cola!
This raw meat is an insult to his fox spirit!
The maid looked at the motionless ball of fur and was on the verge of tears.
The "pet" that the young master brought back had a frighteningly bad temper. After waking up from anesthesia, it refused to eat. It wouldn't even look at the various carefully prepared raw meat, minced meat, and pet nutritional paste.
Unfortunately, the young master instructed that the child must be taken good care of; otherwise, he might starve to death...
"What's wrong?" Xiao Chi's voice came from the doorway. He had just finished his morning exercise, wearing casual sportswear, his forehead slightly damp, looking at the tense scene inside the room.
The servant cried out as if seeing a savior: "Young master! It...it still won't eat anything. It hasn't had a drop of water for days."
She held up her plate, looking aggrieved. "The chef has tried several different kinds of meat, even fresh venison flown in from the air..."
Xiao Chi raised an eyebrow, walked to the pet's den, and looked down at the stubborn white creature.
The white fox seemed to sense his approach, its ears twitched again, but it still didn't turn around.
"So picky about food?" Xiao Chi sat down by the den, reached out, and gently touched the white fox's exposed ear tip with his fingertips.
Yu Fuli froze, as if electrocuted, and pulled her ears back in, curling them up even tighter.
A hint of interest flashed in Xiao Chi's eyes.
He took the plate from the servant, brought it to his nose, and smelled it; the meat was indeed fresh.
"Don't like having children?" he asked himself.
The white ball of fur moved almost imperceptibly.
Xiao Chi noticed this subtle reaction.
He thought for a moment and said to the servant, "Go to the kitchen and have the chef use this piece of meat to pan-fry until fully cooked, sprinkle with a little sea salt and black pepper, but don't add anything else. Also, heat up a small cup of milk."
Although the servant was puzzled, she immediately did as instructed.
Only Xiao Chi and the fox, who was pretending to be dead, remained in the room.
