Chapter 17

is good.

The atmosphere in the core conference room of the seventh sequence was like the sea before a storm—oppressive yet restless.

"I'll say it again! Shi Mo is a complete madman! An uncontrollable bomb!"

Iron Fist slammed his fist on the table, making the water in the cup rattle. "You've all seen the footage from 'Happiness Supermarket'! He hit a customer with an oil bottle! Even if it's an F-rank instance! He's gambling with his life! He's gambling with the reputation of our Seventh Sequence! If he dies, how are we going to explain this to the higher-ups? That we hired a madman who then brought this on himself?"

"Iron Fist, calm down." Red Kite rubbed her temples, trying to ease the tension. "His actions were indeed...unexpected. But the result was good; he survived, and cleared the level with minimal losses and in the fastest speed. You can't deny his efficiency."

"Efficiency? Bullshit!" Iron Fist retorted, his neck stiff. "He was just lucky! He happened to find a loophole in the dungeon rules! What about next time? And the time after that? Can you guarantee he'll be this 'lucky' every time? We in the Seventh Sequence operate based on meticulous analysis, rigorous judgment, and teamwork! Not this kind of individualistic gambling!"

"I agree with Iron Fist's assessment." Lin Chen adjusted his glasses, his gaze behind the lenses calm and rational. "Shi Mo's behavior is unpredictable, posing an extremely high risk. From a data analysis perspective, he has introduced uncertainty into the team, which will severely impact the stability and success rate of our subsequent plans. I believe we should impose strict behavioral restrictions on him, or... reassess the necessity of keeping him in the organization."

"Restrictions? How?" Shadowy leaned against the shadows, toying with his dagger, and scoffed. "Go tell him, 'Hey, Shi Mo, no throwing oil bottles at people in the next dungeon!' See if he even listens? Even the boss had to give up his villa. Who wants to risk that?"

"Are we just going to let him run wild?" Iron Fist glared at Shadow.

"I think Sister Hongyuan makes a good point," Xiaoyu, the young researcher in charge of logistics and analysis, said softly. "Although his method was... unusual, it did solve the problem. And don't you think that being able to come up with a 'compliant' solution in such a short time is itself a... very strong ability? Perhaps he has a special intuition about rules that we can't understand."

"Intuition? Xiaoyu, you're still too young!" Iron Fist retorted. "That's recklessness! It's ignorance is bliss!"

"But he's not ignorant!" Hong Yuan raised her voice. "He knows the rules perfectly well; he just chose the most direct and illogical way to 'execute' them! This actually shows that he might not care about the rules at all, or rather, he has the confidence to challenge the boundaries of the rules!"

"Challenging the rules? Who does he think he is? Does he own the Rules of the World?" Iron Fist sarcastically remarked.

"What if?" Shadow interjected quietly.

The meeting room fell silent for a moment, and everyone looked at Youying with a "you're kidding me" expression.

Shadow shrugged: "I was just saying. Anyway, I think this guy is weird, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. At least, with him around, the dungeon will definitely not be boring."

"We're on a mission! Not having fun!" Iron Fist was so angry that the veins on his forehead throbbed.

"Alright, stop arguing," Hong Yuan said. "Arguing is pointless. What we need now is a unified opinion and a solution. Boss, what do you think?"

All eyes immediately focused on Bai Xu, who had been silent all along.

Bai Xu sat in the main seat, his fingers tapping the table unconsciously. His beautiful eyes seemed somewhat unfocused.

His mind was uncontrollably replaying the scene of Shi Mo facing him in the entryway—that striking silver-white hair, those deep, heterochromatic eyes that seemed to hold stars and seas of blood, even more striking up close… and that self-righteous way of saying “I’m just bored”…

"Boss?" Seeing that Bai Xu didn't respond, Youying called out again, "What do you think of Shi Mo? Should we keep him, keep him in check, or...?"

Bai Xu was abruptly pulled back to reality by Youying's voice. Before his mind had fully recovered from the "scene" he had just witnessed, he almost blurted out, "Beautiful."

The two words echoed clearly in the conference room.

In an instant, the entire conference room fell into an eerie, absolute silence.

You could hear a pin drop.

Everyone stared at their usually calm, wise, and unfathomable captain with an incredulous, ghost-like gaze.

Bai Xu was stunned. What had he just said? He snapped back to reality, realizing his slip of the tongue, and a barely perceptible blush crept onto his ears. He forced himself to remain calm, coughing twice to try and cover up his embarrassment.

"Ahem... um." He quickly adjusted his expression, trying to restore his usual calmness to his voice, and added, "I mean... what he did... was... very... brilliant."

Everyone: "..." Your addition is worse than no addition at all! Beautiful?! Throwing an oil bottle at a customer and calling it beautiful?!

The silence in the meeting room grew even more deathly, and an eerie atmosphere filled the air, as if to say, "Captain, is something wrong with you today?"

Bai Xu felt his cheeks burning. He forcibly changed the subject, his tone becoming serious again: "There's no need to discuss Shi Mo's issue anymore. It was my decision for him to stay in the Seventh Sequence. His abilities are beyond question. As for his behavior... I will personally follow up and guide him."

He surveyed the diverse expressions on the faces of the members, his eyes regaining their usual depth and authority: "Meeting adjourned. Everyone back to work. Hong Yuan, strengthen the monitoring of the next potentially opening instance. Lin Chen, I need a more detailed data analysis report on 'Happiness Supermarket'."

After saying that, he stood up first and left the meeting room almost hastily, leaving behind a group of team members looking at each other in bewilderment, their minds racing.

Iron Fist sat down blankly, muttering, "Boss... just now, was he...?"

Hong Yuan's eyes were filled with complicated emotions. She shook her head and said, "Don't ask..."

Lin Chen silently adjusted his glasses and began to consider the weight of "good-looking" and "pretty" in data analysis.

Shadow picked up the dagger, a playful smile curving his lips, and muttered to himself, "Interesting..."

It seems that the days ahead for the Seventh Sequence are destined to be anything but peaceful. Not only because of the dungeon, but also because of that white-haired man who even distracted their own captain.
