Chapter 70
The Everlasting Debt Supermarket
Shi Mo stopped wandering around and headed straight for a place near the supermarket entrance that looked like a service counter. There sat a strange woman in a uniform, whose aura was roughly A-level.
"Call out whoever is in charge here." Shi Mo didn't exchange any pleasantries and spoke directly to the strange man, his tone calm but carrying an unquestionable command.
The woman had clearly also heard the news. Upon seeing Shi Mo's appearance and demeanor, and especially feeling the invisible pressure emanating from him, she immediately stood up and bowed respectfully: "Please wait a moment, I will contact the general manager immediately."
Without hesitation, she quickly reported in a low voice through a special communicator. In less than a minute, a powerful aura rapidly approached from deep within the supermarket.
A flash of light, and a figure appeared in front of the service counter.
This is a strange middle-aged man who looks to be around forty years old, wearing an extremely well-tailored dark gray suit, gold-rimmed glasses, and with his hair meticulously combed.
He had a refined appearance and a calm demeanor, but the energy fluctuations emanating from his body were as vast as the sea, reaching the S+ level! He was none other than Morpheus, the person in charge of this "Eternal Debt Supermarket".
Morpheus's gaze immediately fell on Shi Mo, his eyes behind his gold-rimmed glasses sharp and cautious.
He had already received urgent messages from various stores and had some guesses about this white-haired, heterochromatic-eyed customer who held a special black card and could terrify even S-level store managers. Now, seeing him in person, he could feel even more strongly the unique aura emanating from the other person—a restrained presence that seemed to subtly resonate with the rules of the entire supermarket.
"Distinguished guest, I am Morpheus, the general manager of the supermarket." He bowed slightly, his attitude respectful yet measured. "What brings you here?"
Without any beating around the bush, Shi Mo went straight to the point and uttered the earth-shattering statement: "I want to buy this supermarket."
Morpheus's refined smile froze instantly.
Even though he was somewhat prepared, he was still stunned speechless by this direct and even arrogant demand. He adjusted his glasses to conceal the turmoil in his heart and carefully chose his words before replying, "Sir... you jest. 'Eternal Debt Supermarket' is a complete copy of the rules; its ownership concerns the core rules. It's not an ordinary product and cannot be purchased with vouchers..."
"The price?" Shi Mo interrupted him, his heterochromatic pupils completely calm. "Tell me, what price do you want?"
He revealed the Black Card of the Underworld once again. At the same time, to strengthen his persuasiveness, he subtly released a trace of the aura of [Divine Contract: Yama] – not fully activated, but merely a wisp of pressure originating from the source of the Abyss Corridor, symbolizing absolute rules and the end.
This aura was extremely faint, unnoticed even by the ordinary monsters and contestants around them. But to Morpheus, an S+ level being deeply bound to the supermarket's rules, it was like a thunderclap!
It was a terrifying sense of oppression that transcended his understanding, as if he were facing the very source of the rules!
His soul trembled violently at that moment, and the instinctive fear almost made him kneel down on the spot.
All his previous guesses were confirmed at this moment—this person was definitely closely related to the supreme being who ruled the Abyss Corridor in legend! He might even be its incarnation or representative!
Just as Morpheus was stunned by this aura, his mind reeling, and he was about to speak—
"dad!"
A clear, childlike voice rang out, and a little girl, about seven or eight years old, dressed in an exquisite princess dress with two pigtails, ran up from behind and hugged Morpheus's leg. She was Morpheus's daughter, Bella.
Bella looked at Shi Mo curiously, then looked up at Morpheus and asked, "Daddy, is this supermarket expensive? How much does it cost?" She held up her two little hands, gesturing wildly, and shouted out an astronomical figure in her childish voice: "Is it a hundred billion?"
"puff--"
Morpheus had just picked up the tea offered by the staff at the nearby counter to calm his nerves when he heard this, and he immediately spat it out, completely losing his refined image. He chuckled and gently tapped his daughter's head: "Don't talk nonsense! Why so much!"
Bella covered her head and pouted, looking aggrieved.
Distracted by his daughter, Morpheus recovered slightly from the terrifying pressure he had just experienced, but his awe remained undiminished.
He took a deep breath, looked at Shi Mo again, and his attitude was even more humble than before, even carrying a hint of seeking permission: "Your Excellency, I apologize for making you laugh."
After careful consideration, he quoted a price that he considered extremely "favorable," even almost symbolic: "If you are indeed interested in... eight billion in vouchers, or an equivalent... 'price,' you can transfer ownership of this supermarket and related rule-related rights."
Eight billion.
This is still a terrifying number that leaves any candidate, and even the vast majority of organizations outside, far behind. But for Shi Mo, who can use the Underworld Black Card, it doesn't seem impossible.
Shi Mo's expression remained unchanged after hearing this, as if he had only heard about the eighty yuan. He simply handed over the Underworld Black Card: "Okay."
Seeing this, Morpheus no longer hesitated. He respectfully accepted the black card with both hands, and at the same time took out an ancient contract scroll that shimmered with dark gold runes and was formed from the power of rules.
"Please confirm the contents of the contract." Morpheus unrolled the scroll. The transfer terms were clearly outlined: Party A (the original owner represented by Morpheus) transfers complete ownership of the copy of "Eternal Debt Supermarket," control over its rules, and all "debts" and "services" between the current participants and the supermarket to Party B (Shimo). The transfer price is eight billion vouchers (paid by the Underworld Black Card).
Shi Mo glanced at it, focusing on the section on the transfer of debt, nodded, and used his mind to leave his mark on the contract.
Morpheus then gently pressed the Hades Black Card onto the area designated in the contract. A deep, dark golden light shot into the sky, instantly enveloping the entire supermarket!
"Buzz—!!"
The entire supermarket space trembled slightly, all the lights flickered for a moment, and the background music that had been playing paused briefly.
All the strange creatures in the supermarket, regardless of their level, sensed something at that moment, as if some rule-based imprint rooted in the core of their existence had changed!
They all bowed their heads deeply towards the service counter, or rather, towards where Shi Mo was, expressing their awe and submission to their new master.
The candidates, though unaware of what was happening, sensed a sudden shift in the atmosphere. Those who had previously been cold or harsh seemed to now display an indescribable mix of fear and respect.
The contract is complete! The light fades.
The Underworld Black Card flew back to Shi Mo's hand automatically. The ancient contract scroll transformed into a stream of light and entered Shi Mo's body, forming a subtle connection with the ownership certificate of the [Abandoned Hospital] that he had previously obtained.
Morpheus felt the connection between himself and the supermarket's rules severed, and the arrival of a higher, more fundamental authority that enveloped the entire area. He let out a long sigh and bowed to Shi Mo again: "Morpheus greets the new master. All authority over the supermarket has been transferred, including the management of all (strange) employees, and... the 'claims' of all sixty-seven candidates currently present."
Shi Mo nodded and took back the black card. He was now the sole owner of this enormous supermarket and all the "assets" within it.
His gaze swept over the candidates who were still looking at him with blank or expectant eyes, his heterochromatic eyes showing no emotion.
Their fate now rests entirely in his hands.
