Chapter 27

, Phase 2 Mission Unlocked

The two thugs were startled by the sudden roar.

"Who's this lunatic now?" the thug with the knife cursed, turning to lunge at Don Quixote. "Get out of my way, you old bastard!"

However, Li Wei was faster than everyone else.

He first activated [Eloquent Talk], shouting "Stop!" at the nearest black thug. Then he instantly activated [Berserk], doubling all three of his attributes!

With a comprehensive boost to Strength of 3.0, Agility of 2.8, and Constitution of 2.8, Li Wei's physical attributes have approached the limits of human perception. The thug with the gun at his waist only felt a blur before Li Wei disappeared from his sight.

Before he could even turn around, he felt an irresistible force coming from his waist, as if he had been hit head-on by a car. He was sent flying and crashed hard into the red brick wall, slamming into the urine stains in the corner.

He didn't utter a single word before spitting out a mouthful of blood and fainting.

On the other side, the knife-wielding thug forcefully stabbed Don Quixote, but was deflected by the thug's trash can.

Don Quixote roared and charged forward like a bull, like a true knight, grabbing the other man's waist and then sprinting with all his might, pinning him firmly against the wall.

"Let me go! You madman!" The thug struggled frantically, trying to swing his knife wildly.

The woman next to her screamed and tried to get away, but then she saw a figure quickly approach and punch the assailant in the chin.

In the alley late at night, she heard a clear "click" sound.

The assailant instantly lost consciousness and slumped against the wall, and the alley returned to silence.

Li Wei withdrew his fist, only then realizing what had happened.

He actually knocked two ordinary people unconscious with just one punch and one kick?

He suddenly remembered the voice in his mind and quickly checked it:

You have received a mission: Fight side by side.

This is your first battle alongside Don Quixote since becoming a heroic knight. Fight together with him to defeat the enemy.

[Task Reward: +0.1 Free Attribute Points]

[Rewards for the task have been distributed]

In addition to the regular tasks, Li Wei discovered that he had triggered the second stage of the Knight's Path quest!

[The Knight's Path: Stepping into the Extraordinary - Quest Series Now Open]

[Your single attribute has reached the human limit 3.0 for the first time, which means you have experienced the limits of the mortal body; the physical body is so weak.]

Weak? Li Wei glanced at the two thugs he had knocked unconscious with a punch and a kick, even though he had held back a little.

After activating [Berserk], Li Wei felt that his overall abilities had reached an almost unbelievable level. A strength rating of 3.0 didn't mean that a single muscle group had reached the human limit; rather, it meant that all of his muscles had reached the human limit.

He just had a feeling that, if he wanted, his hand could crush the thug's wrist like a hydraulic clamp.

The path of the brave knight has only just begun to be paved; life still needs further evolution.

[Phase-1 Reward: Reaching a single attribute level of 3.0 will grant you +0.2 free attribute points]

[Phase 2: Reach 3.0 in two attributes, receive +0.3 free attribute points, and draw 1 new skill]

[Phase 3: When all three attributes reach 3.0, you will receive +0.3 free attribute points, and the Knight - Bronze Body (Transcendent) will evolve.]

[When all four attributes reach 3.0, the next stage of the Knight's Path quest will be unlocked.]

Li Wei made his decision in less than 5 seconds: upgrade a single skill to 3.0, then start taking the stage rewards and continue to snowball quickly. As long as he can build up one skill first, the rest will become easier and easier.

On the other side, Don Quixote also got up from the ground, looked at the woman he had just rescued, and suddenly roared again:

"She's a witch!"

Then he slapped the woman on the forehead.

...

It took Levi a great deal of effort to convince Susan that Don Quixote was not mentally ill.

On the way back, Li Wei was somewhat surprised to discover that Susan was actually a genuine rich woman.

According to her own account, she has been married several times and has taken more than ten properties in Brooklyn from her ex-husbands, and is now living a life of collecting rent.

Just like any other day, she went to Sunset Park to play mahjong with her Chinese sisters. After they finished playing, she was robbed by these two men.

"Thanks to you all," she said, glancing at Don Quixote who was protecting her ahead, then turning to Livy, "otherwise I might have been in danger today."

"A place like Eighth Avenue late at night," Levi asked curiously, "didn't you drive here today?"

"It's like this," Susan shook her head, "My car was parked not far away. I went to the mahjong parlor in my friend's car. We were drinking and playing mahjong, and they were all dead drunk. I thought my car was only a few hundred meters away, but I didn't expect..."

"We can only be careful," Li Wei shook his head, "but it does sound a bit too coincidental."

"You're right!" Susan nodded in agreement. "I also think something's wrong, especially after I told my friend today that I just collected the rent and this happened tonight..."

Li Wei noticed that her gaze seemed to be fixed on Don Quixote, so he tentatively spoke:

"I'm sorry," he said, "my uncle is a little mentally unstable and made a fool of himself."

“No,” Susan said. “Don’t you think he has a chivalrous air about him? He’s just like a real knight.”

"Besides," she continued, watching Don Quixote's retreating figure, "if he hadn't been sleepwalking today, I think he would have been in danger."

Li Wei nodded in agreement: "That's true."

One after the other, Li Wei and Don Quixote escorted her to the parking lot, where they stopped in front of a white BMW X6.

"Thank you so much for today," Susan said, handing Levi a business card and a stack of US dollars. "If it weren't for you, I really wouldn't know what to do today. Do you and your uncle have time tomorrow? I'd like to treat you to dinner?"

Li Wei shook his head: "I don't have time tomorrow. I have to go look at houses. My uncle and I are still living in the basement."

"You two grown men living in a basement? Poor kids," Susan's eyes lit up, her tone not pitying but full of surprise. "What kind of place are you planning to see?"

"I looked at a 2B2B (two bedrooms, two living rooms)," Li Wei shook his head, "After all, my uncle and I both need some independent space, which means living with the landlord is a bit..."

"Now that you mention it, I just remembered," Susan said. "I have a 120-square-meter apartment that I converted from a three-bedroom to a two-bedroom unit and it's currently vacant. Since you're interested in renting it, why don't you come and take a look tomorrow?"
