Chapter 663
Searching for the Ninja
Chapter 663 Searching for the Ninja
Two days after Peter and Matt finished talking, Logan finally had time to come to Manhattan. He had discovered some more clues about X-23 and investigated them, but to no avail. He couldn't even find a definite eyewitness, let alone find X-23.
"This is somewhat similar to the group of ninjas you mentioned. They are all elusive and rarely seen. Hmm, I remember that the Hand's group of undead didn't dissipate their scent, but that was decades ago."
Logan arrived at the agreed location with a cigar in his mouth and started talking to Matt. Matt nodded thoughtfully, then asked about something else: "Is the lady who came with you also an accomplice on this trip?"
"...No, it's just that her arrival might be of some help, and there's no harm in it."
Logan glanced at Kitty Phantom, who was chatting with Spider-Man in the distance. Actually, she had asked to come after learning that Peter Parker was involved in this operation. Besides the fact that Kitty herself was unlikely to be harmed in a battle of this magnitude, Logan simply couldn't bring himself to refuse.
After the professor's return, he felt a significant weight lifted off his shoulders. Many things could now be handled by either the one-eyed man or the professor, allowing him to peacefully live his solitary life. At this point, Logan had no other needs besides finding his clone daughter, X-23.
Logan has regained his memories, the X-Men have been rebuilt, Professor X has been resurrected, and he has a daughter he can take care of and who might not turn out like Deacon if properly guided. It can be said that apart from Jean's death, Logan has no regrets now.
"Alright, so this is the place, right? Those people who died inside were taken care of by that group of undead."
Logan put on his mask and pushed open the door. The stench of blood and enhancement agents hit him, enough to overpower the sense of smell of any police dog.
However, Wolverine's nose is more sensitive than a police dog's. He can even use scent to profile and reconstruct the course of a battle. In this room where only the rebels left traces and the killers had no clues, he smelled some familiar scents.
Without a doubt, this is the essence of the Hand.
Logan paused briefly for two seconds, then turned and walked away, passing between Peter and Katie who were chatting: "I've found them. You'd better catch up."
"So fast?"
"Hmm, the smell isn't very strong, but luckily it only happened today, so we can keep up. You guys hurry up too."
Logan walked downstairs while talking. Peter, who had just chatted with Katie about what they had been doing lately, shrugged and followed Logan. Matt quickly followed as well, and the four of them walked into the elevator.
"Wait, the Hand takes the elevator?"
“They must have stopped at the top of the elevator and climbed up through the elevator shaft,” Peter explained to Katie before opening the trapdoor above the elevator and climbing up. However, the scan still didn't reveal anything: “But there are no footprints here…”
“They are specially trained to leave no footprints during operations, but their scent cannot be masked.”
Logan sniffed again, then directly stabbed the wall with his claws, quickly climbed up, pried open an entrance to a ventilation duct, and climbed inside. Matt quickly followed, swinging his grappling hook to catch up. Peter looked up at the air, then turned to look at Katie: "Can you get up by yourself?"
"Uh, no?" Peter, not caring why it was a question, put his arm around her waist and led her to the entrance of the ventilation duct. He then followed her. Logan nimbly crawled ahead, found another elevator shaft, and then jumped down from it, landing directly at the bottom of the shaft.
The group immediately followed. Above them was the elevator that could descend to the underground parking garage at any moment, but there was nothing unusual about this place. Matt even tapped the ground to confirm that it wasn't hollow underneath.
At this moment, Katie dived directly into the ground. A moment later, a huge rock more than a meter thick was moved aside, revealing a dark passage. Peter turned on the spider symbol on his chest and jumped down first, then looked around at the tunnel.
"It's really... they didn't utilize New York's existing sewer system and instead created such thick cover, no wonder we couldn't find them."
Peter looked up as Matt and Logan jumped down one after the other, his voice echoing in the tunnel. The surroundings looked like they were carved out entirely by man. Logan rubbed the rock wall and then let out a "Huh," attracting everyone's attention.
"what happened?"
"These rock walls were cut with samurai swords, or more precisely, nodachi, but samurai swords are quite fragile among bladed weapons, so using them to cut rocks is simply unbelievable..."
This has nothing to do with the hardness of the metal. Even his adamantium claws, if they cut a tunnel like this, might get dull, let alone a samurai sword. That's why he was confused.
"Is it probably some kind of superpower from a superhuman?"
Peter spoke as he walked forward, when suddenly he remembered something and turned to look at Logan: "Speaking of which, Deacon's mother was killed by the Hand, right?"
"Yes, what's wrong?"
“If that’s the case, then Daken must have been trained by the Hand, right? Then they should know very well that you can smell them, Logan.”
Daken's abilities are almost identical to Logan's, so anything Logan can do, Daken can definitely do too. In other words, the Hand has always known that Logan has the ability to track them down. Matt quickly understood Peter's meaning: "So there is likely a trap ahead, a trap specifically designed to target Logan."
After all, Logan is generally a lone wolf, so this could be a trap aimed at him alone, or it could be a trap aimed at all of them.
After a moment of silence, the group couldn't help but burst into laughter.
Of course they weren't afraid of the Hand. To put it bluntly, if it really was a trap, they would flock to it. Aside from Katie, the other three people present were really worried about what would happen if the Hand ran away first.
Katie watched the three men laugh in the empty tunnel, and for some reason, she felt a little uneasy. Matt only calmed down a bit after he finished laughing.
"Anyway, let's keep going. Hopefully, there really is a Hand trap ahead. I'm quite looking forward to seeing what kind of trap the Hand might set."
