Chapter 683

Another Year Back to School

Chapter 683 Another Back-to-School Day
Peter entered the classroom just in time to see Cindy staring blankly at her phone, probably having received a mysterious notification from Felicia. He took a deep breath and sat down, while Cindy put her phone away and asked, "Are you busy on Homecoming Day?"

"Um? Hmm, is there something you need?"

Peter, finding it difficult to explain, simply ignored it and, unaware of Cindy's thoughts, prepared to continue the lesson. At that moment, he suddenly remembered something, turned to Harry and Amadeus sitting behind him, and discovered that both of them had very dark circles under their eyes.

"What are you..."

"Hmm? Oh, I was tutoring math online yesterday and it got really late, so that's all."

Peter looked at Amadeus with some skepticism, unsure of what he was saying. "You tutor math in America? Whose kid is this diligent?"

Peter looked at Harry again, who shook his head repeatedly, saying, "I also tutor people in math."

"You all taught...the same person?"

"No, no, no, it's just at the same time."

Even without the spider sense, Peter was pretty sure the two weren't telling the truth; they probably stayed out too late somewhere last night. But since nothing serious had happened, he let it go.

In reality, they weren't just playing too late; they stayed up all night, playing games on the computers at the new Spiderweb base. But now, the two listless high school students, fighting off their sleepiness, asked Peter, "What were you going to ask us when you turned around?"

"Oh right, I haven't been paying much attention to what's going on at school. What's the theme for this year's homecoming costume party?"

"One day I'll be My Little Pony."

Peter stared at Harry in disbelief, but Harry looked at him seriously and asked, "What's wrong? Do you find it strange?"

Is this an activity that everyone can participate in?

Peter was truly shocked. Last year, everyone dressed up as superheroes, which could be considered an open activity, since everyone could find a character they liked or didn't particularly dislike, whether superhero or villain. But My Little Pony...

"So what? Everyone loves My Little Pony. Don't worry, since none of us are real horses, I'm sure nothing bad will happen."

Peter was speechless. He began to wonder if he could skip the first day of classes during the week-long homecoming festival.

Then he started to think again: if the first day is My Little Pony, will the later ones be even more incredible?

"I don't think it's necessary to follow the rules for the costume event the week before homecoming. It doesn't matter if you wear your regular clothes. Everyone is more concerned about the weekend's football game and homecoming dance. Who cares about the costume event that week?"

Amadeus clearly wasn't one of those people who "everyone loves ponies," and the next day Harry brought it up again: "Then in exchange, one day will be a scientist-themed day, and everyone will have to dress up as the corresponding scientist. I've already prepared Einstein's wig and beard." "You might as well just say one day is a girls' theme and the next day is a boys' theme. Your statement was too scary."

Before Peter could finish speaking, Harry retorted, "No way! I think ponies are great! Don't you guys like ponies?"

Well, I have nothing to say to this kind of person.

Peter sighed and decided to stop thinking about where to rent costumes. He remembered that there was a character in My Little Pony who was a reference to Doctor Who, the Tenth Doctor. Since that was the case, he would just take out the costume he wore last year when he cosplayed the Tenth Doctor and wear it again. After all, it was also My Little Pony.

Then bring out the scientist theme again, since Doctor Who is also a scientist, and that would be perfect.

"On another note, Peter and I are sure we'll find homecoming dance partners this year. Amadeus, what about you? Have you spotted any suitable girls?"

"Come on, buddy, I'm not like you guys. I didn't come to school for so much of last year because..." Amadeus glanced around before continuing, "Heracles took me all over the world, helping him solve ancient texts, underground labyrinths, curses, and prophecies that he couldn't understand at all. How could I have time to meet female classmates?"

“I don’t think you’d even bother to interact with the female classmates if you had the time. You’ve hardly ever talked to anyone. In fact, if it weren’t for Cal King bullying you, Peter and I wouldn’t have paid any attention to you.”

Harry ruthlessly revealed his cowardly nature to Amadeus, who was furious, but also knew it was true. Hearing this, Peter felt a moment of disorientation: "It's been almost a year since the Cal King incident..."

"Yeah, he's been missing for almost a year. His mother has also passed away. I guess something terrible happened to him. But then again, someone like him probably turned into a supervillain somewhere and got killed by the Punisher."

Peter gave Harry a meaningful look. Strictly speaking, Harry wasn't wrong; the Punisher had indeed intervened when dealing with Cal King. The reason Peter hadn't told them how Cal King died was partly because it happened too early, when they weren't very close yet, and the distance between a classmate and someone else in trouble is different.

Unlike now, where Midtown High School is teeming with superheroes, it's practically a den of iniquity.

On the other hand, it wasn't mentioned back then, so there's no need to bring it up now. Karl King, who was extremely dangerous and powerful at the time, is nothing to Peter now.

Instead of worrying about what to wear for Back to School Day, I'd rather keep thinking about what outrageous themes to come.

Thinking about this, Peter started scrolling through his phone again. He was surprised to see a message from Felicia asking him which dress would look best on him. Peter didn't click on it to read further, but instead started browsing the news.

He also discovered the Daily Bugle's "Spider-Man Investigation." Jonah Jameson was clearly not satisfied with the Hydra investigation and was now planning to target Spider-Man. He could get a reward for sending the Daily Bugle photos and interviews to prove Spider-Man's actions. There would be an additional reward if he found out that Spider-Man was doing something bad or that the operation had failed.

That's unbeatable.

"While Spider-Man may not be short of money now, Peter Parker might not be. Should we take advantage of JJJ's wealth?"
