The Sentinel Charges on Spider-Man
Chapter 832 The Sentinel Charges on Spider-Man
Robert Reynolds, or Bob for short, is perhaps better known by his superhero codename: Sentinel.
With the power of a million stars exploding, he is the focal point of the debate and the second strongest fighter after Galactus. He has an extremely high level of power in the setting, but at the same time, he seems to have no brain of his own. Apart from his own father's solo series, he seems to be a brainless humanoid weapon in the various worlds of the comics, being used wherever he is useful.
They are usually not our humanoid weapons, but the enemy's. When they are used as our weapons, their performance will show some unexpected fluctuations.
Regardless of all that, Peter had other things to do. He hadn't thought of anything related to the Sentinels before, for a simple reason—any version of the Sentinels appearing at this point in time was too early, and the power of the Erkins Serum was limited; he never imagined that this thing could bring out the Sentinels.
The essence of the Erkins Serum is "induction-based enhancement," providing the human body with the ability to undergo genetic changes. For example, Captain America and Luke Cage, as well as Cloak and Dagger, and Mr. Negative, all derive their abilities from the induction within themselves. On the other hand, characters like the Lizard Man, Ultimate Octopus, and Peter himself are influenced by the DNA of other organisms within the Savage Force Project.
And without a doubt, Bob's body contained nothing but this specially made version of the Erkins serum, which was said to be a thousand times more effective. But you can't exactly say that a thousand captains added together would create a Sentinel, can you? That would be too strange.
"Uh, so what happened? How did I get here? Have I gotten into some trouble?"
"Simply put, you've been tricked. You weren't participating in a medical experiment, but rather some kind of human modification experiment by Hydra. You are the only surviving experimental subject."
Bob stood up blankly, then pointed to himself: "So, have I become stronger? Uh, I don't think I've grown taller, and I don't seem to have any superpowers."
Peter noticed another problem: this Sentinel didn't seem like the Sentinel in the comics; he was more like the Sentinel from the movie *Thunderbolts*. He was currently clueless, completely unaware of his powers or how to use them.
Peter sighed. He had been hoping the Sentinel would prove his worth and wipe out the Hydra soldiers who were coming down, but it seemed the guy was more in need of psychological counseling and didn't understand what had happened to him. He shook his head and took out the Sling Ring, intending to send Bob to the Avengers base first, and then deal with the Hydra soldiers himself.
He failed.
Peter drew circles in mid-air in disbelief, but the portal didn't open. Bob looked at Peter with surprise: "Oh, uh, Spider-Man, what are you doing?"
"I'm trying to open a portal with magic, but for some reason it's not working. Could it be that something here is interfering with me..."
"I... I didn't know you could use magic." Bob grinned at Peter, then pointed to the exit: "Can't we just go out the door?"
“We’re hundreds of meters underground, and there’s a squad of Hydra soldiers outside ready to storm in. I need to make sure you’re safe first, Bob, so I don’t think that’s going to work.”
Peter decided against trying to open the portal. He called to Bob, "Find a place to hide, I'll take care of those guys."
"But... I survived, right? I might be a superhuman now, and I might be able to help you, Spider-Man."
Peter glanced at Bob helplessly: "Do you know how you use your 'superpowers'?" "Uh... maybe get shot?"
That seemed to be true, but Peter shook his head, walked out of the hibernation pod, and headed towards the main control room. Besides the remote control that Ultron had severed, the Hydra base's self-destruct program also had a hardware bootloader, which was located there. Peter walked forward, pondering how to deal with the enemy, then glanced back at Bob and saw that the guy had followed.
"It's nothing, I just... I feel safer being closer to you, Spider-Man."
"Okay, then remember to find a good place to hide, they're coming soon."
Upon hearing this, Bob quickly hid. Then, Peter saw a row of five Hydra agents in heavy, dark green steel armor rushing towards him. Peter took a deep breath and immediately became invisible. Then, a giant net appeared in the corridor, and the Hydra armored soldiers quickly stopped and looked at the net warily.
"Spider-Man is right here!" the team leader shouted, then immediately added, "Everyone stay alert, watch out for Spider-Man...?!"
They saw the giant net woven in the corridor rush towards them, surrounding them completely, and then a white current instantly engulfed everyone. Peter had already arrived behind the team, amplifying his life energy with his qi, releasing an even stronger current to connect with the web, and with a forceful tug, the electric grid, powerful enough to overload and short-circuit these mechs in an instant, knocked them all down.
“I believe Stark will be very unhappy when he sees that Hydra is the first company to replicate his technology.”
Peter deactivated his cloaking, stood atop the squad leader's armor, and ripped the curved reactor from the chest of the enemy armor. He then did the same to the others. Without power, these armors were nothing more than immobile lumps of metal.
Bob saw this and laughed happily, running over to the guys: "Oh, I didn't expect... you're much better than the news reports, Spider-Man."
“Jonah Jameson doesn’t usually report on how I fight,” Peter shrugged, then sensed more armored soldiers approaching. “Well, if we’re going to get out of here, we’ll probably have to get this over with quickly. We can’t afford to get entangled with these Hydras any longer. I have to take you with me.”
Bob looked troubled: "But...won't I be a burden to your fight?"
Peter stared at Bob for a short while.
A few dozen seconds later, the second Hydra armored squad stormed into the underground base. They then saw Spider-Man charging towards them, along with a man strapped to Spider-Man's back.
Viper, who witnessed this scene directly online, was devastated.
How come there's another living person in this base?!
"Who is that person?!"
"I don't know!" the squad leader answered honestly. "All I know is that he was charging forward on Spider-Man."
