Chapter 834
Ordinary Bob
Chapter 834 Ordinary Bob
Avengers Base.
Peter was trying to draw the Suspended Ring portal, and this time there were no problems. He hadn't opened the portal before he started. Was it a problem with the Hydra base or with Bob? In his opinion, the latter was more likely.
After all, this is the sentry.
"So, you're saying that the super monster you saw in the zombie universe, the zombie with the power of a million stars exploding, is the counterpart of that kid you just sent back." Tony looked at Bob entering the lab for a physical exam, then looked at Peter incredulously: "Excuse me for being blunt, but he looks like, well, a drug addict delinquent."
Peter nodded helplessly: "Without a doubt, it's him."
“If that’s true, then we Avengers need to guide him onto the right path.” Captain looked at Bob and frowned. “I don’t recommend sending untrained soldiers into battle, but at least we need him to know how to control his power and how to use it without hurting others.”
“Yeah, you don’t want to kill someone with a handshake. That could very well happen.” Tony nodded as he opened the refrigerator and took out a tub of ice cream. The captain glanced at Tony and said, “It’s already early December.”
"I know, this stuff is only really good to eat in winter, it won't melt."
Tony completely ignored the captain's outdated opinion and continued eating: "But I think he has such great power that with just a little bit, even just a tiny bit, we can make him a powerful Avenger. Of course, we already have Hulk and Thor, but nobody thinks it would be bad if we had another Hulk and Thor, right?"
“We can’t force other people to make decisions, Tony.”
The captain shook his head. Even if the other party truly possessed the energy of a million stars exploding, even if this power was truly significant, they couldn't force the other party to make any decisions. This was the captain's consistent principle: regardless of who the other party was, they must be given autonomy and respect.
The Avengers have a responsibility to guide Bob in using his abilities better, but there is no reason to demand that Bob become an Avenger.
But Tony just smiled and didn't answer the captain's question.
Please, they're the Avengers, the Avengers! If he just tells that young guy that he can become an Avenger, that he can be a superhero, would the guy refuse? Then, can Captain America say that this wasn't Bob's own wish?
So in Tony's view, this is not a problem at all.
However, Banner quickly interrupted Tony's wishful thinking. After leaving with Bob, he told Bob to go and rest first, and then came out with the medical report: "Unfortunately, guys, I even suspect that the super soldier serum that was injected into him may have failed. His DNA is completely normal, in fact, quite normal, almost unbelievably normal."
Tony found it hard to believe: "You mean... he doesn't have any superpowers at all?"
"Yes, whether it's Luke Cage and the others who were injected with the modern Erkins serum, or even the Captain, everyone's cells have undergone significant redevelopment, mutation, and differentiation, but I haven't seen any of that in him. The only thing he has is that he used to be addicted to painkillers, but it seems like he's fine now." Tony was speechless. Could it be that this guy really is just an ordinary person with no abilities whatsoever?
Peter's view was clearly different: "When I found him, he had been in the hibernation pod for at least ten days. He hadn't starved to death, and when he came out, he could run and jump, and his muscles hadn't atrophied at all. Hydra hadn't activated any of the hibernation pods, which meant that he hadn't eaten or drunk anything for more than ten days and nothing had happened to him."
This is clearly not within the scope of normal human beings.
“Also, I have another theory, though I’m not entirely sure.” Banner adjusted his glasses. “Spider-Man mentioned that many Sentinels in different worlds have a purely evil personality, ‘The Void,’ and as we all know, I usually look like an ordinary person, but once I unleash the Hulk, I become a big, green three-year-old… or maybe a five-year-old now. I suspect Robert is the same way.”
Peter couldn't help but interrupt Banner: "And as I said, once the Void is released, we will most likely have to face the end of the world directly, so I think Dr. Banner, your idea is a bit extreme."
"No, I mean, maybe we can start from this point. Like... Bob is actually afraid of his own power. He believes superpowers are related to destruction, so he sees the power aspect as part of another personality within him. But if we can make him realize that his power has nothing to do with his personality..."
The three people present all looked at Banner, leaving Banner completely bewildered: "Is there a problem?"
Tony gave a half-smile: "I didn't know you were focusing on psychology now. What, you've gotten along well with that big guy?"
"I guess so. Now I can call him out even without getting angry. Our relationship has improved a lot, and many kids like Hulk. He'll be happy to see Hulk toys."
Banner nodded and then looked at everyone: "But we're talking about Bob's problem, friends, this has nothing to do with me."
“Alright, then we’ll keep him at the base. Anyway, our base is so big, it won’t hurt to keep one idle person.” Tony shrugged. “Banner, go talk to him. Maybe you two have a lot in common. Let’s continue to focus on the Ultron problem. We still have at least three Ultrons to deal with.”
“Speaking of which, I’ve spoken with the Guardians of the Galaxy and given them some information about the war on Earth,” the captain added, then looked at the others. “We need an operation now to force Legion’s Ultron to reveal himself, and then I’ll talk to him.”
"We need to tear a hole in Ultron's logic and tell him that his Avengers Protocol can only bring endless war, and peace can never be achieved."
The group exchanged glances, deciding what to do next. Captain America and Tony immediately began finalizing the plan: Banner went to find Bob, and Peter went to call the rest of the group back to base. Then Tony, quite intrigued, asked, "Speaking of which, what are Ultron, who's in charge of our cybersecurity, and his Pym daddy up to these days?"
