Chapter 23

Perfume

Green did not rush to do anything immediately, but instead tried to calm himself down through meditation and organize his emotions and thoughts.

For wizards, meditation is a means of converting mental energy into magical energy of equal level, and it is also the most basic way to hone and improve their mental energy.

This gave rise to the concept of so-called wizarding qualifications.

Depending on the wizard's aptitude, even with the same level of meditation, some people might only gain a little mental strength in a year, while others might only gain a little in ten years.

After an hourglass, Green opened his eyes, ending his daily meditation.

Meditation is not about doing it for as long as possible, but rather about doing it for the duration of an hourglass each day. If it exceeds the duration of an hourglass, the wizard will feel mentally exhausted and the meditation will not be very effective.

call……

Exhaling a sigh of relief, Green picked up the crystal ball and sensed his own condition.

Mental strength: 13, Magical strength: 125~137.

"Hmm? My magic limit has increased by two points? It seems that my recent insights have indeed resonated with me quite a bit."

At this moment, Green finally managed to calm himself down, his eyes shining with the wisdom of a wizard, and he sat quietly in front of his experimental table.

On the experimental table, a dissected frog was soaking in a preservative solution, several white mice were squeaking in a cage, seven or eight glass jars contained various kinds of insects, and a large sealed container contained a monkey brain in a yellow liquid.

In addition, there were several bottles of unidentified liquids that emitted different scents, seemingly simple fragrance mixtures made by Green himself based on "The Scent Atlas," and a precious, low-grade microscope...

Green took out his experimental notebook, which contained all his insights from two years of research on "Nose Modification".

Over the past two years, Green has been able to identify nearly 4000 odor patterns through his modified nose, which is almost ten times better than the average person!

Rubbing his temples, Green began to think again.

"The nose-hunting modification is not bloodline witchcraft, a fact that was confirmed six months ago when I bought the microscope. Bloodline witchcraft is when a wizard takes the blood of certain powerful creatures, exchanges it for his own blood, and then uses certain mysterious methods to modify and evolve his own power system."

He lit a small piece of calming incense, a spice that Green created based on the "Scent Atlas" and alchemy. It has a calming effect and is a little gadget that Green invented himself.

"Since it's not a bloodline magic system, nor is it one of the elemental magic systems, curse magic systems, mysticism systems, mental magic systems, soul systems, alchemy systems, or mechanical systems that I can normally access, what exactly is the principle behind this nose-hunting modification? Damn it, and why isn't this magic book signed by an author...?"

Green had been searching in the college library for magic books similar to "Nose Modification" in hopes of cross-referencing and verifying them, thereby advancing his experiments.

However, Green was surprised to find that the huge library did not contain a single magic book similar to the Nose Modification, which could alter the body of an evolutionary wizard but was not a bloodline magic, alchemy magic, or mechanical magic.

After pacing around the room alone for a while, Green seemed to have some ideas in mind. He quickly went to the lab bench, sat down again, and took the squeaking white mouse out of the cage.

"Since it's not bloodline magic, then what part of the organism has been altered to allow it to evolve? Perhaps we should conduct an experiment to see what parts of the body the special substances injected into the body by the Hunter's Nose Modification Magic have changed?"

As soon as the new idea came to mind, Green went crazy, rummaging around under the experimental table and pulling out a bottle of red medicine.

This medicine is a synthetic pigment. If ingested directly, it will not harm the organism because the stomach lining will effectively digest and eliminate any harmful components. However, if injected directly, it may cause mild poisoning.

A wizard wouldn't have any pity for his "experimental subjects." Green still had some low-grade materials left from the materials for the nose-hunting modification magic, which could only be combined into a mediocre injection potion that wouldn't allow the wizard to evolve at all. However, it was enough for observation and experimentation.

Half a day later, Green finished making a simple nose-modifying synthetic agent, which was mixed with synthetic pigments.

Of course, this was all predicated on the fact that Green had already extracted the cell blood from the mice to obtain the neutralizing agent several months prior; otherwise, this step alone would have taken several weeks.

Picking up a thin syringe, Green injected the nose-modifying synthetic agent into the mouse's body and patiently waited for the nose modification to take effect.

Two days later.

Under Green's microscope, an experimental result that surprised Green was revealed!

"How is this possible? Every cell in the mouse's body shows signs of poisoning? They're all stained red with pigment? How is this possible? Only the nose was 'evolved,' so why would the drug need to alter every single cell in the body?"

Green's expression showed disbelief mixed with some surprise.

Perhaps, there has been another major breakthrough today.

However, Green could no longer continue his research in his cabin because the microscope was only a very basic one.

Although it cost a full thirty magic stones to purchase from Blackthorn, it could only be used to observe cells in the microscopic world, making it a beginner-level microscope for wizards. Further zooming in to observe changes in certain areas within the cell was practically impossible.

The experiment cannot be terminated!

With a determined look, Green led all the utensils directly to Black Tower, the most central location of this wizarding academy.

The Black Tower occupies a vast area, with the lobby on the first floor resembling a giant trading market that stretches as far as the eye can see. Green didn't waste any time and hurriedly ran to the top floor on the seventh floor.

"I need to rent a high-powered microscope."

Greene held the vessel and spoke urgently.

The wizard apprentice in charge of managing the valuable rental equipment glanced at Green and said indifferently, "One magic stone a day. However, if the equipment is damaged during the trial period, the enforcement team will take action."

Green was startled by the rental price of the high-powered microscope, but he gritted his teeth, took out a magic stone and handed it over, then hurriedly went into the laboratory.

A day later, Green left the laboratory, his face somewhat grim, and asked the wizard apprentice in charge, "Excuse me, does the academy have any higher-grade microscopes available for rent?"

"More advanced?"

The wizard apprentice in charge of managing the experimental equipment was also taken aback by Green's words.

"You're just a wizarding apprentice. Do you really need to research some kind of sophisticated potion that requires that level of detailed data? Isn't even the high-powered microscope here sufficient?"

Generally speaking, only alchemy and pharmaceutics have extremely demanding requirements for microscopes, and occasionally mechanics also has some requirements; other disciplines do not require microscopes at all.

Therefore, the wizard apprentice curled his lip and said, "Our academy isn't good at alchemy, so there's no way we could have anything higher... Hmm, wait, I remember now."

Green looked delighted: "Really?"

The wizard apprentice gave Green a strange look, then chuckled and said, "My mentor has an even more precious microscope, which he said was purchased from the Seventh Ring Tower."

"Your advisor?"

Green's face darkened further. Needless to say, his mentor must be a great wizard. Borrowing a microscope from a great wizard?

Green felt that such a thing was extremely unlikely.

Forcing himself to be brave, Green asked, "May I ask who your advisor is?"

"You don't need to know who my mentor is, but if you can give me twenty magic stones, I'll let you use his advanced microscope once when he's not around. How about that?"

The wizard apprentice winked at Green, giving him a knowing look.

"Twenty magic stones!"

Green jumped up like a cat whose tail had been stepped on: "Are you crazy? It's only for one use, why is it so expensive?"

"There's no other way. I'm taking a huge risk. If the mentor finds out, it'll be terrible. You decide what to do. Anyway, I won't take you there even if it costs less than one magic stone."

The wizard apprentice replied nonchalantly, "Well, my name is Varo. You can come find me anytime if you need anything."

Green gritted his teeth, turned around, and left.

Let alone twenty magic stones, Green can't even come up with two magic stones now, because all he has left is one and a half magic stones.

"Think of a way, think of a way, how can we get those twenty damn magic stones!"

Green walked along somewhat impatiently.

Go borrow it?

Green hasn't made any new friends in the past two years, so he really can't bring himself to ask his Bloodsail Alliance friends for help unless it's absolutely necessary.

"A great wizard should achieve their ideal goals through the knowledge they possess. Hmm, the nose-hunting magic I've mastered now counts as knowledge, but how do I use this knowledge to obtain that damned Philosopher's Stone?"

As Green rubbed his head, almost on the verge of collapse, he suddenly noticed the bottles of spice mixtures he had been mixing idly on the lab table.

"Hmm? Maybe... we could try selling these fragrances?"

Unlike typical wizarding apprentices, Green, who focuses on nose-hunting magic and olfactory mapping research, is almost an expert in olfactory science, despite having no offensive capabilities. He is also extremely effective at tracking targets and counter-tracking.

This is a field rarely studied by wizarding apprentices; it seems that people only pursue lethal witchcraft.

"By the way, perhaps... we could look for some synthetic fragrances that have a natural attraction to humans in the odor spectrum?"

Almost instantly, Green thought of one of the most attractive scents to humans in the "Scent Atlas": the scent of hormones secreted by the opposite sex!

Most humans cannot smell this odor at all. In fact, in the odor spectrum, the odor of hormone secretion is just one of the odors in the odor spectrum. However, this odor can create subconscious hallucinations in humans of the opposite sex who smell it.

Simply put, it's an aphrodisiac.

Inspiration strikes at the drop of a hat. Odor pharmacology is Green’s forte and only forte, a field he has been dedicated to for the past two years, and even before that, when he was on the East Coral Island!

Ten different fragrance shades are needed to blend a perfume.

Three short-note fragrances, giving you an instant, impactful scent.

The three middle notes allow one to savor the scent for several hourglasses.

Three long-lasting fragrances; the fragrance will exude a long-lasting, melodious, and captivating scent for the next few days.

Finally, there is a blended fragrance, which is the essence of the fragrance. It suppresses the short, medium, and long notes of the first nine notes. Once someone smells the fragrance, all they will remember is this blended fragrance.

It seems simple, but it involves calculating the interaction formulas of odor molecules. If it weren't for Green's years of studying and memorizing odor diagrams, it would be impossible for an ordinary wizard apprentice to do it...

The only thing an ordinary person could think of is mixing pollen and honey from nature.

Green's method of making fragrances is to transform the pressed fragrance into the scent of opposite sex hormones.

This meant that Green would have to make two different types of perfume for men and women.
