Chapter 54
The Tower of Ruin
Chapter 54 The Ruined Tower (Part 2)
With a creak, the wooden door closed automatically.
Green felt a sudden chill run down his spine. He turned around sharply, but saw no one. The wooden door remained rotten and dilapidated, as if it would be completely destroyed with the next bit of force.
Green looked somewhat nervous, but kept telling himself, "None of this is real, this can't be real..."
After a short while, Green's breathing finally became much more stable.
"Hmm? I can't use witchcraft?"
Green was surprised to find that he couldn't activate the fire element to provide light, no matter what he tried.
Preventing a wizard apprentice from casting spells is an absolute control over natural energy. Green was certain that even a level three archmage, though able to suppress the power of his magic circle lever to its limit, could not possibly prevent himself from casting spells.
call……
"Since there's no way to cast a spell, then let's not use one. This dilapidated water tower is quite famous, but I've never heard of anyone dying from it."
Thinking this, Green looked up at the environment inside the water tower in the darkness.
The ground was covered with dry grass and many faint footprints, suggesting that people often came here. Inside the cylindrical water tower, a wooden staircase led upwards. The water tower was about fifty meters high, but only the bottom twenty meters of the staircase were visible; the top was dark and blurry, and could not be seen clearly.
Let's go up to the top of the Black Tower and take a look?
Perhaps we can get a closer look at that enormous eye.
Filled with the fearless spirit of a wizard exploring the unknown and pursuing new knowledge, Green's gaze was firm as he slowly walked towards the wooden ladder. He held onto the worn-out handrail with his left hand and stepped onto the ladder with his right foot, making a "creak".
Uh...
A cold wind seemed to blow by, but Green remained unmoved and continued climbing step by step. The wooden ladder creaked and twisted, but after a dozen steps, Green realized something was wrong.
"Wait a minute! Why is there a sound of two wooden ladders creaking? Is someone behind us?"
Green turned around abruptly, but in a daze, he realized that he was only standing on the first step of the wooden ladder, holding onto the first step he wanted to take.
Green was stunned.
"Didn't leave just now? No, the memory is so clear. Could it be a hallucination? It can't be a hallucination. The companion worm didn't react at all. Could it be that because I turned around, I was brought back here by some kind of spatial folding force? Or, time reversal? Uh, neither of those is very likely."
As Green guessed, he once again walked upwards with determined eyes.
This time, Green vowed in his heart that no matter what happened, he would definitely reach the top of the water tower!
Thinking this, Green lifted his foot and started walking up. This time, he had only taken six or seven steps when, because he was focused, he faintly heard the sound of footsteps on the wooden ladder behind him.
Crunch!
Almost simultaneously with Green, the two footsteps stopped abruptly.
After taking a deep breath, Green carefully discerned the scents in the air and sensed behind him through the Pale Mask's ultrasonic sorcery, but all his senses told Trin that there was indeed no one behind him.
call……
Zhe Lin lost count of how many times he had taken a deep breath, then once again walked upwards with a determined gaze.
At the same time, the sound of footsteps on the wooden ladder behind Green began to rise, and it seemed to be gradually catching up, getting closer and closer to Green.
At this point, Green had climbed about ten meters up the water tower. Hearing the creaking of the wooden ladder behind him, which was only two or three steps away, Green suddenly stopped again.
Creak! Crunch!
Suddenly, Green's hair stood on end, and his body shuddered instinctively!
I didn't mishear, it's definitely not a hallucination. Just now, the footsteps behind me took an extra step, which is why there were two sounds!
Shivering, Green wore a pale mask and a loose robe, so no one could see his trembling and panic, but he couldn't fool himself.
At that moment, something called fear was indeed spreading in Green's heart. Green really wanted to turn around and see what was behind him.
"No!"
For a moment, Green acted like a madman, or rather, he completely drove himself mad. He actually walked forward again, veins bulging on his forehead, eyes bloodshot, yet with unwavering determination!
Gradually, the footsteps stopped about half a meter behind Green and continued climbing the wooden ladder at the same speed as Green. The two "creak" and "groove" sounds seemed to be amplified countless times in the water tower and could be heard clearly.
what……
Suddenly, Green felt someone breathing softly on his neck from behind. Green could not only feel the sound of the breath, the airflow, and the heat, but he could even feel the breath hitting his neck and condensing into water droplets.
Beneath the pale mask, a bead of cold sweat slowly trickled down his forehead, down his cheek, and into his neck.
Green swallowed hard, clenching his teeth to keep them from creaking, and lifted his weak legs, trembling as he took one step forward.
Green seemed to have made up his mind that even if something were to kill him on the wooden ladder today, he would never turn back.
After climbing another twenty meters or so, Green even developed some immunity to the thing that kept "swaying" behind him, until now, the thing has simply disappeared completely.
Green let out a breath.
In an instant, Green felt his body lighten, and at the same time, he was filled with excitement. He felt as if he had overcome all difficulties and broken through his own limits. A sense of confidence filled his heart.
"Hmph, a dilapidated water tower, nothing special!"
Thinking this, Green took a few more steps before suddenly realizing something was wrong ahead!
Complete darkness, complete silence, as if another space had divided the water tower space in two: one side was the relatively normal, dilapidated water tower world, and the other side was an unknown world that swallowed all light and sound.
Are you trying to force me to turn back?
Having just overcome his fear, Green's confidence exploded, and he stepped into this unknown world without a second thought, seemingly fearless of everything.
…………
There was no light, no sound, and not even a smell.
The masked ultrasonic sorcery could only perceive a void, and even the wooden ladder beneath his feet appeared as a black mist. Yet, Green could sense the ladder beneath his feet and the handrail he was holding, and he walked forward step by step.
"How long have I been in this space? Three days, four days, five days? How many floors have I climbed on this wooden staircase? Thirty thousand, thirty-five thousand, forty thousand?"
But why is it that I've walked for so long without reaching the end of the water tower, which is only about fifty meters high?
"It's time to report to Master Peranos. Raffi must be furious at not being able to contact me, right? Go back... No! I can't turn back! I refuse to believe I can't reach the end! Besides, I'm not hungry or thirsty. Everything I've experienced must be an illusion! It must be!"
Green is a guy who's driving himself crazy, and he keeps going step by step.
Just then, suddenly, Green felt as if he had undergone some changes, as if he had just passed through a thin membrane, and his vision suddenly became bright.
"Huh? There's light! I can see things now! I did it?"
In his excitement, Green looked around and suddenly exclaimed, "Wait a minute, why am I still on the first floor of the wooden ladder?"
"Hey, you've been there for ten minutes since I came in. Are you done yet?"
The impatient voice suddenly came from behind, and Green's legs almost gave way, causing him to instinctively sit on the ground. With a timid scream, he desperately crawled back two steps. When he could finally see the blurry figure clearly, he gasped for breath and asked tremblingly, "You...you're human?"
This was a female wizard apprentice who was so fat she was almost a ball, with two balls sticking out of her chest. Even the wizard's wide robe could hardly conceal her figure, making one wonder if the robe would fall apart if she made any sudden movements.
This guy is even more shocking than that fat guy on the first floor of Black Tower.
Preliminary estimate: over 400 jin!
"Nonsense, what am I if not human? Look how scared you are, did you hear footsteps behind you, you coward."
As he spoke, the woman carrying him disregarded Green's temper and shouted, "Hurry up and leave! This water tower didn't seem strange at all when the two of you were there."
Green didn't want to argue with this woman too much; the dark days he had just experienced were still fresh in his mind.
Similarly, there is his unwavering belief in daring to face anything.
I quickly left the dilapidated water tower courtyard. It was still late at night. From outside the courtyard, the dilapidated water tower looked normal, without any strange phenomena. It was just an ordinary ruin.
Suddenly, Green thought of something and took out the crystal ball.
A moment later, Green opened his eyes and exclaimed in disbelief, "No way, how is this possible? 29 points of mental strength, an increase of five points! This... this dilapidated water tower is simply a miracle, no, no, a wonder."
Green intends to study this matter thoroughly, and has even placed it before any other research on the forbidden areas of the bio-code.
Perhaps... we could consult the great wizard Peranos.
As a Level 3 Archmage and one of the three principals of the Black Tower Wizarding Academy, Peranos must know more about the secrets behind this dilapidated water tower.
With that in mind, Green went to the mission hall and posted the mission to find one hundred beautiful shells.
If it's a small number of Beauty Shell missions, the magic stones required for each Beauty Shell will naturally be higher, but for missions with a large number of Beauty Shells, it will be relatively cheaper. Green offered a commission of four thousand magic stones.
Before leaving, Green asked the staff in the mission hall about the time. After confirming that he had indeed only spent less than an hourglass in the dilapidated water tower, Green was deeply shocked for a long time.
After doing all this, Green didn't go back, but went straight to Raffi's cabin, where they spent a passionate night together.
