Chapter 65

The Black Wizard?

Chapter 65 The Black Wizard?

"Miss, please come in quickly!"

The short, fat man was startled and quickly pulled down the carriage curtain. His expression changed as he stared at Green and the others, and said sternly, "You lot..."

"Sir, we didn't see anything, don't worry."

An old wandering knight chimed in.

Then the short, fat man looked at Green and his group. After Green and his group pretended to be stupid for a while, they were considered to have passed the test. Then, with a cold snort, they drove the convoy away from the city.

"What's there to be afraid of? Anyway, once I get to Bangalore City, I'll be able to become a formal wizard apprentice..."

The little girl inside the carriage muttered discontentedly, which faintly reached the ears of Green and the others.

Green was slightly taken aback. Could it be that there was a formal wizard there who intended to take this little girl as his disciple?

At night, the five wandering knights, including Grimm, sat around a campfire, drinking and eating dry rations. Meanwhile, a short, stout man and a little girl sat around another campfire near a carriage, eating the prepared delicacies.

After spending half a day together, and with more than twenty days of missions to go on together, the burly wandering knights had gotten to know each other better and started joking and bragging.

The strongest-looking guy among them was nicknamed "Brutal Bear." With his shiny bald head, he munched on dry rations while boasting about his past adventures, which were nothing more than things like dark wizards and mutated monsters. As a wandering knight, his exposure and imagination were limited to that.

The other guy, who looked menacing, didn't talk much; all I know now is that his nickname is Cobra.

The remaining pair were twin brothers nicknamed Iron Hammer and Iron Axe, who were also two chatterboxes, constantly babbling on and on, as if they had met the bear too late.

Green downed a shot of the strong liquor that the bear had handed him, frowned, and swallowed it down hard—it was quite a thrill.

"Haha, tyrant boss, you're so generous! This tequila is a specialty of my hometown. It's so strong that most people get drunk just from the smell, hahaha..."

The bear laughed loudly and took a big bite of the jerky in its hand.

After Green established his authority by throwing that unfortunate big man out with one hand, the group nicknamed Green the tyrant and made him the leader of the five.

Green didn't say anything, but instead took another big gulp of strong liquor.

At this moment, Green seemed to have completely abandoned the etiquette of a wizard, drinking and eating like a drunkard knight. If Raffi, Binghamson and the others saw this, their eyes would surely pop out.

Green, however, had a different thought in mind.

The Alterion spell grants an unparalleled ability to disguise itself. It requires not only a wizard's physical appearance to change, but also sufficient acting skills. In a sense, Green's current situation can be considered a kind of training in disguise.

"Hey, you guys are talking about over there..."

Iron Axe started rambling again. After eating and drinking his fill, his talk was all about women, and there was only one woman in the entire camp, who was just a little girl.

Of course, the wandering knights wouldn't be interested in such a small fellow; they were only interested in the wizard's identity.

"You bastard, do you want to die? How dare you speak ill of the wizard like that?"

Hammer slammed his head down, growling in a low voice. Little did he know that the little guy wasn't a wizard at all.

At this moment, Cobra stood up without saying a word and left, seemingly to practice his martial arts skills. This was the only way for knights to train their physique and practice their killing abilities.

They talked endlessly about the bear, the hammer, and the axe. If Binghamson were here, he could definitely have a great chat with these three guys, but Green didn't seem very interested.

Green's eyes lit up. Perhaps learning martial arts from these knights would help him develop his physical abilities. With that thought in mind, Green simply walked towards Cobra...

For the next ten days or so, the convoy proceeded steadily without any disturbance. As the leader of the group of wandering knights, Green truly acted as if he were a wandering knight, constantly running back and forth to guard against any potential dangers. This made the other wandering knights, who were lazily sitting on the truck, feel admiration. Little did they know that Green was training himself in this way.

This warning seemed to have worked. That day, Green, who was walking at the front of the convoy, suddenly reached out and signaled the convoy behind him to stop.

"Boss Tyrant, what's wrong?"

The bear shouted loudly, and the short, fat man at the back of the caravan also poked his head out of the carriage.

Something's not right up ahead.

Green said calmly, as if he were a seasoned knight who had been licking blood from the edge of a knife for many years, seemingly having seen this kind of scene many times before, remaining composed and calm.

Ahead lay a dense jungle, with no cities nearby, making it an ideal ambush site for thieves.

Iron Hammer and Bear came running over. Iron Hammer frowned and said, "Based on past experience, there shouldn't be any bandit groups around here. Boss, are you sure something's wrong up ahead?"

Green nodded, of course he wouldn't say that he sensed the group of guys in front of him through his nose.

Soon, without any need for investigation, the group of bandits emerged from the woods on their own. There were fourteen of them in total, and they subtly surrounded the convoy.

Green and his men also picked up their weapons, glaring fiercely at the group of guys, but both sides refrained from taking any action.

The short, fat man came out with a fawning grin, tossing a small bag of silver coins to the bandit leader, saying, "Consider this money as a treat for the brothers to have some drinks. Please do me a favor."

There is an unspoken rule between bandits and wandering knights: if a merchant does not employ a wandering knight, the bandit gang will not hesitate to take them all down.

However, if a wandering knight is hired and the killing between the two sides would cause irreparable damage, the master will usually spend a little money to avoid trouble. After all, everyone is just trying to make a living and there is no need for a life-or-death struggle.

The bandit leader lifted his money bag, glanced at the few wandering knights from the caravan, and shook his head, saying, "If it were any other day, I would have spared your lives, but unfortunately, a lord has come here today and needs you to stay, so..."

The bandit leader grinned and waved his hand, and a dozen or so bandits behind him rushed over with strange laughs.

The short, fat man was startled and panicked, staring at the bandit leader in disbelief.

"Damn it! You really think we're just for show? I'll fuck you little brats to death!"

The bear roared and charged forward, axe in hand. Cobra, Iron Axe, and Iron Hammer, their eyes bloodshot with despair, were clearly driven to rage by the bandits' disobedience; they were determined to take some of their enemies down with them even in death.

Suddenly, with the bloody scene unfolding between the two sides, both the bandits and the caravan fell silent, staring in horror at the dripping blood giant sword.

"what……"

A heart-wrenching scream rang out as the now-shrunken bandit leader stared in disbelief at the broken sword in his hand and his body severed at the waist. After a desperate, agonizing scream, he struggled and crawled backward with his hands, his upper body groaning. Blood and entrails littered the ground as he desperately tried to escape the demon before him, creating an extremely gruesome scene.

Green was also stunned.

Just now, when Green saw the bandit leader charging at him, because he didn't know any martial arts, he instinctively swung his sword at the bandit leader.

The bandit leader didn't pay any attention to Green's naive attack. He was even prepared to counterattack after the attack. He had killed countless novices like Green.

However, just as the bandit leader parried the Grimm's greatsword, an unbelievable and astonishing force emanated from the sword. The bandit leader's eyes widened, and he only had time to show a look of horror for a moment before a loud "bang" rang out. The greatsword in Grimm's hand directly severed the bandit leader's longsword, and then, with its remaining force, cut the bandit leader in half at the waist.

The inner thoughts of Green and the bandit leader were unknown to the others.

Whether it was the bandits or the caravan, all they saw was Green casually swinging his sword, and the next moment the bandit leader was cut in half at the waist—a truly effortless and carefree sight.

"You...this...tyrant boss...this..."

The bear stammered, unsure of what to say. The bald man looked at the half-dead bandit leader crawling on the ground and even felt a pang of sympathy. He held the axe in his hand, unsure whether he should chop at the group of stunned bandits.

Hammer, Axe, and Cobra were prepared for a desperate battle, but then this sudden turn of events caused such a huge upheaval that it was devastating.

Green was at a loss for what to do.

I was planning to fight the bandits here a bit longer. Anyway, with the Mutation Technique, everything would be fine as long as my head wasn't chopped off. It would be a good opportunity to explore my physical potential.

It seems that his training over the past few days has had an effect, as Grimm's strength has far exceeded that of a normal knight. As a result, he accidentally caused this outcome.

Green touched his nose, hesitating, unsure whether he should continue killing these bandits.

"A legendary knight! He is a legendary knight!"

A scream came from the bandit's side, a trembling finger pointing at Green, his face full of fear.

It seems that only this explanation can convince me why the bandit leader was so easily dealt with by the other party with a single sword strike.

The bear, the cobra, the iron axe, and the iron hammer all looked at Green with reverence. The cobra, in particular, couldn't help but ask, "Are you truly a great, legendary knight?"

Legendary knights are humans who have forged their flesh and blood to their limits, enabling them to unleash their life force in battle.

Once a legendary knight possesses this power, he will voluntarily follow some wizards as servants, receive mysterious modifications from the wizards to further enhance his power, and then may embark on a truly powerful path belonging to the knight.

Of course, this road is just a dead end that leads to despair.

"Uh... I guess so."

Green simply admitted that the group had parted ways after arriving in Bangal, and there was no chance of them ever seeing each other again.

Upon hearing Green's admission, both the bandits and the caravan members wore expressions of shock.

Legendary knights are even rarer and more precious than wizards, and they are the ultimate goal that countless knights strive for their entire lives.

"Hmph, a legendary knight? Excellent..."

A faint, sinister laugh came from behind the bandits. As the laughing figure appeared in their sight, the caravan members, except for the bandits who had already given up hope because of Grimm's legendary knight status, cried out in disbelief, "A...a black wizard!"

One of the most distinctive features of a black wizard is that his body is always surrounded by a gray aura of death. This is because after killing too many humans, he absorbs some mysterious energy from the dead. This mysterious energy seems to be a kind of negative emotion, a strange negative energy similar to grievances, wails, despair, and fear.

It is said that only the Holy Tower has the ability to completely conceal the manifestation of this negative energy, therefore the black wizards cultivated by the Holy Tower are no longer black wizards, but demon hunter wizards.

This dark wizard had a youthful face, looking about sixteen or seventeen years old, but no one had any other thoughts about him; all they felt was absolute fear!

For the common people of the Wizarding Continent, dark wizards are synonymous with death.

"slow!"

The girl suddenly ran out of the carriage, holding a strange black sign in a panic. It was unclear what it was, but the black wizard who suddenly appeared paused for a moment when he saw the sign.

On the other side, Green was also stunned.

The reason Green was stunned was because this dark wizard... seemed... too weak!

He was so surprised that even his 30 points of mental energy could be hidden from his perception. He didn't even realize that he was a wizard apprentice!

What's wrong with this wizarding world? How can such a weak dark wizard dare to roam freely across the wizarding continent?

Green looked at the black wizard who had suddenly appeared opposite him as if he were a rare species.

Perhaps we should preserve this precious experimental specimen intact?

Using dark wizards as experimental subjects, I wonder if other dark wizards will dare to retaliate?

Or perhaps you could cut off the other person's head and hand it over to your mentor as a side quest?

After all, this is a legendary dark wizard...
