Chapter 20

I did it

Jessica stared at him for a full minute.

The office was so quiet that you could only hear each other breathing.

Jessica suddenly felt... a strange flutter in her heart.

Love... fucking love...

It's absurd that this blond bastard actually made her feel... a sense of security.

"Fuck!"

Jessica downed the drink in her glass in one gulp. "Bottoms up!"

She pointed at Wu Yanzu, "But! I only listen to myself. Don't try to control me, or else..."

"otherwise?"

"Otherwise, I'll tear this building down."

"Deal." Wu Yanzu revealed a victorious smile. "Welcome to... the Super Seven, Queen Jones."

"Ding! Special popularity points gained +15000!"

"Ashley!" Wu Yanzu pressed the speakerphone button, and Ashley immediately pushed the door open and entered.

"Take Ms. Jones to the styling department; she needs Walter's baptism."

"Yes, sir."

"Wait," Jessica was pulled away by Ashley, "Styling department? What baptism? I don't fucking need that..."

"No, you do," Wu Yanzu's voice came from behind her. "You must be worthy of that name, Queen."

"You blond bastard! Fuck you—!!"

The door closed.

Jessica Jones has been "frozen out" by Walter.

She was thrown into a grueling training camp. Not for strength, but for appearance.

"No, Ms. Jones! Smile! Show eight teeth! Like Mr. Homelander!"

"Ms. Jones! Your lines are wrong! You can't tell the public to 'get out of my sight!'"

"Ms. Jones! Put down that bottle of whiskey! Heroes only drink Water!"

Jessica felt like she was going crazy, but it wasn't over yet.

Ashley ignored her emotions and swiped the screen, "Your origin story...we're polishing it too."

"Do I fucking need an origin story?"

"Of course! You can't exactly tell the public that you spend your days hanging out in Hell's Kitchen, fighting with thugs, can you?" Ashley looked at her with a "you're so naive" expression.

"Listen, this is the new script: You, Jessica Jones, a Columbia University dropout, gained superpowers during a... well... alien radiation! You were lost for a time, until... you met Homelander! He, like a lighthouse, guided you, making you realize... with great power comes great responsibility!"

Jessica felt like she was going to throw up the whiskey she drank last night.

Then the stylist brought over a set of clothes.

Jessica Jones was petrified.

It was a white bodysuit.

It wasn't pure white; it was the kind of white with a pearly sheen, damnably, sparkly white. On its chest was a tacky purple-gold "Q".

"...I'll kill you," Jessica growled.

"Oh, no!" the stylist shrieked excitedly. "You promised Mr. Starr! This... darling, this Queen's Suit uses the Starr Group's latest memory fiber! It will accentuate all your best features!"

"Ashley!" Jessica turned to her beautiful assistant, "Fuck your mother!"

"Calm down, Jessica." Ashley took a step back. "This is your new look. You have to... accept it. We've arranged a six-week training program for you on media, facial expressions, and combat stance."

"I don't need a fighting stance! I can fucking fight!"

"You can fight, sweetheart," the bearded stylist said, making a delicate gesture with his fingers. "But you can't fight. Your movements... are too dirty. What the audience wants to see is... beauty! Ballet! This!"

The stylist struck a classic Homelander pose with hands on hips.

"roll!"

“Listen,” Ashley’s expression turned serious, “Homelander’s movie, Homelander: Origins, will have its world premiere in six weeks. And you, Queen Jones, will be Walter’s surprise trump card, appearing at the premiere alongside the Super Seven Project…”

"You will be the brightest star that night... second only to him."

Jessica looked in the mirror at the woman who had been forced to wear white armor and whose hair had been styled into "softer" waves by a stylist.

It was as if she was seeing herself for the first time.

"Damn it..." she sighed softly.

"Yes, that's the expression! Hold it!" The stylist excitedly pulled out his phone. "With a touch of... brokenness! The audience loves it!"

Meanwhile, Vought Media's PR team has completely erased "Jessica Jones" from Hell's Kitchen's records.

Before the movie is released, she must remain a "mystery".

……

Meanwhile, Wu Yanzu's film "Homelanders: Origins" has finally wrapped up filming.

He returned to his penthouse, poured himself a glass of '82 soda, and casually turned on the TV.

Meanwhile, another "big news" story was being broadcast on television.

"...Billionaire Tony Stark, Iron Man, had his Malibu mansion attacked by an unidentified armed helicopter. The villa was completely destroyed and crashed into the sea..."

In the scene, the mansion on the cliff turns into a fireball.

"...Reports indicate that Mr. Stark is missing following the attack. His bodyguard, Happy Hogan, remains in intensive care. The White House..."

"...Previously, Tony Stark publicly declared war on terrorists through the media! And even introduced himself!"

"madness."

Wu Yanzu shook his head.

"Tony...Tony...you're always like this."

He knew the plot well; he understood what was going on better than anyone else.

He then picked up his private phone, an encrypted internal line of the Water Group.

"Ashley, send me a statement immediately. Vought International and Homelander himself express our strongest condemnation of what happened to our friend, Mr. Tony Stark."

"Homelanders will use all available resources to assist in the search for Mr. Stark. And we declare war on this cowardly act of terrorism!"

hang up the phone.

The blood in Wu Yanzu's body began to burn.

Another chance to boost popularity has arrived! And...

"Ring ring... Ring ring..."

Just then, Nick Fury's cell phone rang.

He pressed the answer button.

"Chief Fury." His voice instantly filled with "sadness" and "anger."

"I just saw the news... Tony... I can't believe it!"

"I request authorization from S.H.I.E.L.D.! I have to... I have to do something! These damn terrorists... they have to pay the price!"

Nick Fury was silent for a moment on the other end of the phone.

"...Starr, calm down. We're assessing the situation..."

"An assessment?! Director Fury! Tony is my friend!" Wu Yanzu, in full actor mode, his voice trembling, "I can't just stand by and watch him... You must give me all the intelligence on the terrorists! Immediately! Right now!"

"...We'll share the intelligence with you. But be careful, Starr. This guy...is dangerous."

"I was born for danger, Chief."

Wu Yanzu hung up the phone, and the "grief and indignation" on his face vanished instantly.

He gained the pretext of legitimate intervention.

"very good."

"Dr. Killian...you mustn't...let me down."
