Chapter 26
: The White House
He walked up to Tony and looked down at the man who had just crawled out of a tin can.
"He seems to need some personal space."
"By the way, Tony."
A sincere smile appeared on Wu Yanzu's face.
"My movie, 'Homelanders: Origins,' will have its world premiere in six weeks. At that time... I'll send you a VIP invitation."
"You... arrogant... blond bastard..." Tony trembled with anger.
"Thank you for the compliment."
Wu Yanzu stopped looking at him, turned around, and his cloak drew an elegant arc in the air.
"Mr. President, let's go."
He grabbed the president's arm, leaped into the air, and disappeared into the darkness before dawn.
Tony Stark was left alone, holding his "glowing" lover, standing on the deck full of wreckage and charred corpses, in the cold sea wind... disheveled.
high in the air.
Wu Yanzu looked at the exhausted man in his arms and gave him a meaningful smile.
President Matthew Ellis... how will you repay me?
The night sky was filled with the cold wind, which seemed like thousands of icy needles, trying to pierce through President Ellis's expensive suit.
He had never felt so cold or so lucid in his entire life.
His so-called "courage" honed on the golf course and Capitol Hill is a pathetic joke in the face of the massacre just now and this "human flesh flight".
"Hold on...hold on tighter, Mr. Homelander!" President Ellis's teeth were chattering as he gripped Wu Yanzu's arm as if it were a lifeline.
"Relax, Mr. President."
Wu Yanzu's voice was shockingly calm.
He didn't fly at full speed, but maintained a "comfortable" subsonic speed.
He was "lifting" the most powerful man in the country with one hand, while the other hand was casually behind his back.
"My God..." Ellis looked down at the coastline that had shrunk to a map, "You...you saved my life. America...owes you a favor."
"Oh, a favor?" Wu Yanzu laughed.
The word, spoken by a politician, is cheaper than ice in a whiskey.
"Mr. President," Wu Yanzu suddenly stopped in mid-air.
Ellis's heart skipped a beat, and the feeling of weightlessness made him let out a short scream.
"Do you think what I want is a favor?" Wu Yanzu turned his head to face Ellis.
"I...I..." President Ellis was a little flustered.
"I saved your life. In a matter of minutes, I resolved a terrorist attack that would have kept the Pentagon in meetings for a whole year." Wu Yanzu's voice was soft, yet more chilling than a gale.
"And Tony Stark, the so-called Iron Man. He was being beaten to the ground by terrorists with his pile of clanging junk. He couldn't even protect his woman."
"And I," Wu Yanzu pulled Ellis closer, "appeared...I won! Just like I always win."
"What...what do you want?" President Ellis finally asked.
"What I want?" Wu Yanzu smiled.
"Mr. President, I don't want anything. It's you who needs me."
……
The last vestiges of darkness before dawn over Washington, D.C., were pierced by a red and blue figure.
Wu Yanzu was flying across half of America at a relatively comfortable speed, carrying an ordinary person with him.
That mortal, Matthew Ellis, the current president of America, had his eyes tightly shut, his face deathly pale, and was gripping Homelander's arm tightly.
"Relax, Mr. President, we're almost there. Your suit needs changing; it's really poor quality."
President Ellis didn't hear the second half of the sentence at all; he only felt as if his internal organs were about to be thrown out of his throat.
"Hold on tight, prepare for landing."
4 a.m., the White House.
All the lights on the South Lawn were turned on, and the entire Washington security system was on the verge of a breakdown.
Secret Service agents, armed with P90 assault rifles, tensely established a defensive line on the lawn, while helicopters circled overhead.
"My God... Look! What's that?!" A young agent pointed to the sky.
"Unidentified flying object! Approaching at high speed!!"
"Fire...wait! Don't fire! That...that's..."
"call--!"
A sudden gust of wind arose.
Wu Yanzu, holding President Ellis, landed slowly in the center of the South Lawn with a powerful and perfect posture.
His Stars and Stripes cape hung gracefully behind him.
"..."
Dozens of Secret Service agents, guns at the ready, stared in disbelief at the scene.
"Mr...President!!"
"My God...it's Homelander!!"
"He...he brought the president back!!"
"Snap! Snap! Snap! Snap—!!"
The reporters who were scrambling outside the White House were driven mad!
They frantically pressed the shutter button through the iron fence, the flashes making it as bright as day!
This photograph is destined to become one of the most classic Pulitzer Prize nominees of this century—"Homelander Saves the United States".
"Ding! You have gained 250410 popularity points!"
"Ding! You have gained 301152 popularity points!"
"Ding! You have gained 284471 popularity points!"
"..."
The power within Azu's body surged once more.
"Well done, myself," he thought. "This is fucking... what marketing is all about."
"Mr. President!" The head of the Secret Service, an agent named Flynn, was the first to react. He led his men forward and took the president from him.
……
Oval office.
The fireplace was burning brightly.
President Matthew Ellis was wrapped in a thick wool blanket, holding a glass of freshly poured brandy, but his hand was still trembling uncontrollably.
The office was packed with people.
The Secretary of Defense, the Secretary of State, and... the Vice President who remained "out of sight" throughout the incident.
The vice president's face was even paler than the president's; he knew he was finished.
"Everyone out," President Ellis suddenly said, his voice hoarse.
"Mr. President? We must..."
"I said, all of you get the fuck out!" Ellis exploded, slamming his glass to the ground. "Leave only... Mr. Homelander."
The crowd looked at each other, but no one dared to disobey.
Under Azu's ambiguous gaze, the vice president practically scrambled out of the office.
The heavy oak door closed.
Now, only two people are left here.
"Alright..." President Ellis opened his mouth, "Anyway, I owe you a life, Mr. Homelander."
"Just call me Anthony, Mr. President."
"You look terrible, Matthew," he said, addressing the president by his first name.
President Ellis was taken aback, but did not refute.
In front of this man, his "presidential" authority was as fragile as a piece of paper.
