Chapter 68

Are billionaires no longer appealing?

The contestants' information scrolls across the large screen:

Robbie Baldwin, codename "Fastball".

A somewhat nervous young man ran onto the stage, wearing a suit that looked like a modified diving suit with strange spherical decorations.

"Uh... Hi everyone, my name is Fastball." Robbie nervously rubbed his hands together. "My ability is... kinetic energy absorption and release."

"Sounds like an inflatable punching bag," Tony commented sarcastically. "Show me, kid. Don't tell me you're just a punching bag."

Robbie took a deep breath.

Backstage, a staff member rushed up with a baseball bat that you can find anywhere on the street and hit Robbie hard in the stomach with a home run!

"Bang!"

The audience gasped in surprise.

However, Robbie remained motionless.

The next second, a blue ripple spread out from his injured abdomen.

"ha!"

Robbie suddenly pushed his hand, and an energy shockwave shot out from his palm, directly knocking the staff member holding the broken baseball bat back three or four meters, causing him to fall to the ground with a thud.

"Interesting." Tony raised an eyebrow and pressed the red button in front of him first.

"Thump!"

The light pillars belonging to the Iron Man team on the stage lit up instantly.

"The kinetic energy conversion rate is around 60%," Tony said, looking at the data Jarvis had transmitted. "If you can increase that efficiency to 90%, you can serve as a backup battery for me if my reactor fails. I want you."

"He's not a battery, Tony." Steve Rogers also pressed the button.

"Thump!"

"He's a guardian." Steve looked at Robbie with approval in his eyes. "You can absorb damage, which means you can be a pillar of support for your teammates, a shield for the people, and you can save their lives. That's remarkable, kid."

Jessica glanced at the two of them, shrugged, and didn't press the buzzer.

"Alright, Robbie," the host said, "you have two choices. Learn from the rich how to become a battery, or learn from the veterans how to be a shield?"

Robbie was flushed with excitement as he looked at Tony, his eyes filled with adoration: "I'm a huge Iron Man fan... my room is full of Iron Man figurines!"

Tony curled the corners of his mouth and gave Steve an apologetic look.

"But my mom said you have to be honest..." Robbie looked at Steve, "So I chose Captain America!"

Tony rolled his eyes. "Okay, another one who wants to be a Boy Scout. Next!"

The host began the announcement: "Please welcome the next contestant! The fiery red lady—Angela!!"

Accompanied by dynamic background music, a woman with fiery red hair walked onto the stage.

She wore a fiery red, tight-fitting leather outfit with a daring cut, exposing large expanses of her snow-white skin to the air, and her figure was so hot that it was impossible to look away.

As soon as she stepped onto the stage, she gave a sexy flying kiss, and a ball of flame exploded in the air into the shape of a heart.

"Wow—!"

Tony Stark's eyes widened, and he instinctively whistled. His hand moved faster than his brain, and he slammed the light shut!

"Snapped!"

"This is what a superhero should be like. I mean... this kind of visual impact."

"Tony?" Steve frowned. "She hasn't shown her abilities yet."

"She's already shown it, Captain," Tony said, pointing to Angela. "Her ability is to raise the temperature in the room. I feel like the room temperature has already risen two degrees. That's a superpower."

Angela ignored Tony's flippant remarks, walked to the center of the stage, and gave the camera a charming smile.

"My name is Angela. My power is... burning."

Then she stretched out her arms and shouted sweetly:

"Full power!!"

With that slogan, a loud boom!

The blazing flames instantly engulfed her entire body!

She transformed into a burning fire spirit, flames swirling around her, soaring into the sky, and even coalescing into a pair of fiery wings in mid-air.

Using the flames, she flew through the air and drew a giant Walter V logo, then condensed the flames in her palm, transforming them into an exquisite flame rose.

The heat wave hit them in the face, and the audience in the front row could feel the burning sensation.

Tony put on his sunglasses without thinking.

Steve Rogers looked at this scene with a sudden, dazed expression.

"Thump!"

He instinctively pressed the button.

The entire audience erupted in uproar.

Tony Stark looked at Steve with surprise: "Old Popsicle? Are you serious? I thought you were only interested in... well, the kind of female agents in military uniforms carrying files. I didn't expect you to like the hot type too?"

"Tony, watch your words." Steve snapped out of his daze, somewhat embarrassed. "She just felt strangely familiar to me..."

"Moreover... her abilities have great tactical value. On the battlefield, fire can be used for suppression and clearing paths."

"Shut up," Tony said, scoffing. "You're just after her because she's hot."

"I agree with Steve," Jessica, who had been silent until now, suddenly spoke up. "This girl is really good. Not only is she pretty, but her control over fire is also very precise."

"Thump!"

Jessica also pressed the light.

All three lights are on!

"Wow! The first three lights of the round!" the host exclaimed. "Angela, the power has been reversed! Let's see what Angela has chosen!"

Angela extinguished the flames and returned to her original form, her Walter-sponsored tight leather suit completely unharmed!

"Alright, Miss Hot," Tony spread his hands, "Who do you choose? Come with me, and I'll forge you a suit of Flame Armor, making you fly faster and generate even more heat!"

Angela glanced at Tony, too lecherous; then at Captain, too serious; finally, her gaze settled on Jessica.

"I want to join the Treasure Girls team," Angela tossed her red hair. "Girls help girls."

"Well done." Jessica smiled appreciatively at Angela.

Tony slumped back in his chair, sullen. "What are young girls thinking these days? Aren't billionaires appealing anymore?"

The selection process continues.

The following contestants were a chaotic mess.

Some are "emo boys" who can instantly plunge those around them into sadness, some are "fluid people" who can turn their bodies into water that flows through gaps, and some can make their teeth as hard as steel.

Another guy claimed he could talk to fish, but Tony asked him, "Do you eat sushi?" and he left in embarrassment.

Until contestant number thirty-fifth took the stage.

Next up was a silver-haired young man wearing a silver tracksuit.

Pietro Maximov.

He stood on the stage, hands in his pockets, chewing gum, with an air of arrogance on his face.

When his gaze fell on Tony Stark, the undisguised hatred in his eyes sent chills down Tony's spine.

"Who is that?" Tony whispered to Steve. "Do I owe him money? He looks like he wants to devour me alive."

"You might be a victim of weapons you sold," Steve said frankly. "You know, you have quite a few 'fans' like that."

"Fine, I guess I'm just unlucky."
