Chapter 21
This guy is shameless.
Wu Yanzu then connected with Ashley again.
"Ashley, I need you to activate the 'Hurricane' contingency plan."
"Sir?" Ashley on the other end of the phone paused for a moment.
"Wake up all our 'friends' we've planted at CNN, Fox, and Reuters. I don't care what excuse they use, I don't care if they lie about an oil spill or bird migration—I need at least ten news helicopters to fill the airspace east of Florida within the next hour."
……
Ten thousand meters above Florida.
Wu Yanzu floated in the stratosphere, weaving through the thin clouds.
Instead of his glamorous uniform, he donned a stealth flight suit specially made by Vought International, making him virtually invisible on radar.
He had high-sensitivity tactical earpieces plugged into both ears.
"Ashley," he whispered into the communicator, his voice as calm as if he were ordering food, "are the cameras in position?"
"Sir," Ashley's voice came from the command center of the Water Tower, trembling with excitement, "thirteen news helicopters have entered the edge of the target airspace under the pretext of 'extreme weather reporting.' They are equipped with top-of-the-line telephoto lenses. If you request, we can switch to a global live broadcast within five seconds."
"very good."
"Also," Ashley added, "our 'friends' at S.H.I.E.L.D. just sent a final confirmation. President Matthew Ellis's Air Force One will be entering your intercept point in three minutes. War Machine... is really on it."
"Of course he's on top," Wu Yanzu chuckled.
"Sir, the target has been spotted," Ashley's voice came through.
Wu Yanzu's X-ray vision had already pierced through the clouds and locked onto the iconic Boeing 747 dozens of kilometers away.
"Received. Track my location. Turn on your phone in twenty minutes." Wu Yanzu turned off the communicator.
He was like a shooting star, silently streaking across the sky, hanging far behind Air Force One.
……
Rewind to an hour earlier, the "Iron Patriot" armor landed smoothly in front of Air Force One's runway.
It wasn't Rhodes inside, of course, but Killian's right-hand man, Eric Savan.
Unaware of the truth, President Ellis personally saluted and said, "Colonel Rhodes, with you here, I feel like this is the safest place in the whole country."
Eric Sawan, inside his armor, nodded without speaking.
The Secret Service agents were completely unsuspecting and let him board the plane.
The aircraft then climbed to cruising altitude.
Savan glanced at the clock on the plane and headed towards the presidential conference room.
The agents on the plane also relaxed their vigilance, and when they saw the Iron Patriot approaching, they even prepared to take a selfie.
Caught completely off guard, Sawan shoved him into a cubicle and pressed his reddened hand against the lock and gap of the cubicle door, instantly welding the alloy door shut!
Sawan then strode toward the conference room in the middle of the cabin.
President Matthew Ellis is having a meeting with his top advisors.
One of the president's bodyguards looked at him with a puzzled expression, and he sent the bodyguard to his death without hesitation.
"Rhodes?! Are you insane?!" a follower roared.
Secret Service agents immediately drew their guns and returned fire; they were the elite of the elite.
But when the bullets hit the armor of the Steel Patriot, they only produced a series of meaningless sparks.
Savan's movements were swift and efficient; the meeting room was emptied in three minutes.
The scene was chaotic, with only the pale-faced president and his deputy hiding under the table, trembling with fear.
As the table was overturned and his deputy was executed, President Ellis himself still had some backbone. He suddenly grabbed the pistol that the agent had dropped and pointed it at Savan.
"Bang!"
Savan grabbed him and pressed him against the bulkhead.
"ah--!"
Sawan ripped off his armor and helmet, revealing his cold face.
"This isn't Rhodes," President Ellis gasped.
"Kill me if you dare!" Ellis said defiantly.
"Don't rush, Your Excellency. Your stage isn't here," Sawan sneered.
He gave the president no chance, roughly dragged Matthew Ellis over, and forced him into the internal cavity of the Steel Patriot armor.
"Bang!" The armor closed.
Savan quickly set the coordinates on the control panel on his arm.
"Whoosh—!"
The Iron Patriot armor carrying the president detached automatically from Air Force One and disappeared into the horizon.
Goodbye, Mr. President.
Thus, the president was successfully abducted.
Savan remained inside the cabin, locking the remaining officials and crew members at the stern, while he prepared to parachute away.
Without realizing it, he caught a glimpse of the view outside the window.
My whole body suddenly tensed up!
A figure.
A black figure, bathed in sunlight, hovered silently outside the cabin, staring at him expressionlessly through three layers of glass.
"That face...Homelander?!"
Savan was stunned. Damn it, how did he get here?!
Ah Zu looked at him and slowly revealed an eight-tooth smile.
"Damn, that's fucking perfect."
Wu Yanzu witnessed all of this from outside the window.
His X-ray vision was crystal clear.
The president was stuffed into a can and flew away.
"Well done, darling." Wu Yanzu smiled his standard smile and suddenly ripped off his stealth flight suit, revealing a blue bodysuit with the Stars and Stripes fluttering in the wind.
Whoosh—!
He transformed into a streak of light, crashing through three layers of alloy partitions to Savan's astonishment, and hovered in the center of the cabin.
He was bathed in the shattered sparks of electricity, his Stars and Stripes cape billowing wildly behind him.
"Excuse me, just kidding." Wu Yanzu's voice drowned out the howling wind. "The in-flight service on this flight looks terrible."
Savan was momentarily at a loss for words; he hadn't expected this biggest variable to appear here.
"You fucking..."
"Shh." Wu Yanzu held up one finger. "Where's the president?"
"Ha!" Savan laughed. "You guessed it? You thought you won? You're too late, hero!"
Savan's body began to glow, and he pushed the Extremis virus to its limit.
He charged toward Wu Yanzu like a walking, human-shaped melting pot.
"Go find him in hell!!"
He punched Wu Yanzu in the face, his fist carrying a heat strong enough to melt steel.
He's going to burn this "blonde sweetheart's" head through!
Wu Yanzu remained motionless.
"Bang!"
A muffled thud.
Savan's fist landed squarely on Wu Yanzu's face.
"..."
Savan's smile froze.
His fist was smoking, but his face... was completely unharmed.
"That's it?" Wu Yanzu said slowly. "Your body temperature... is about three thousand degrees? You've tried your best, but it's not enough."
"No...it's impossible..." Savan felt a little scared; this guy's skin was too thick...
