Chapter 31
, Eight Views Palace, Swallow's Nest
What is morality?
Morality is the virtue of the Great Way. Virtue is boundless, and the Great Way is infinite. If one is imbued with the spirit of morality, one will surely be favored by the Great Way.
All those who cultivate morality are virtuous people, favored by the Great Dao, and possess profound Daoist cultivation. Even if they sit at home and remain still, they can know the major events of the world, making them great masters of celestial secrets.
If we were to discuss who among the ancient beings possessed the highest morality, it would undoubtedly be the head of the Three Pure Ones, known as the Supreme Pure Moral Heavenly Venerable. His cultivation was the most profound, making him arguably the leader of all gods.
When the Three Pure Ones joined forces to attack Buzhou Mountain, Laozi made the fewest moves, but he was the most ruthless in killing. Often, in just a few moves, he would destroy an Ancestral Witch and cause countless Witches to perish.
If it weren't for the existence of the Pangu Palace in the Wu Clan, which allowed the Twelve Ancestral Witches to be resurrected and further propagate the Wu Clan, Laozi alone would probably have been enough to wipe out most of the Wu Clan and directly interrupt their upward trend.
This is the effect of morality. In Lao Tzu's view, every great path has its own mysteries, and its weaknesses can be easily discovered, thus allowing one to destroy them effortlessly.
Even a mortal can defeat a celestial being with a mortal body, provided they possess morality and profound spiritual cultivation.
However, Lao Tzu's moral and educational spirit was all innate and not acquired later, while Guang Chengzi's moral and educational spirit was offered by all the immortals and belonged to the acquired category, making it difficult to compare with him.
Even so, Guang Chengzi still tirelessly restrained the moral and educational spirit, integrating it into the Golden Wheel of Merit, hoping to create a Five Virtues Divine Wheel in this way.
Although these five innate virtues are extremely rare, nothing is impossible for a willing heart. Now that he has collected the most difficult-to-obtain morality and merit, the next three virtues are not so difficult.
Because there was no outside interference, Guang Chengzi's sermon went very smoothly without any interruptions.
Guang Chengzi spoke for a full 129,600 years without ever feeling his mouth dry, while the immortals below listened with rapt attention, each with a smile on their face as if they had suddenly realized something.
Many Shangqing immortals with low cultivation levels have now arrived here. At a rough glance, there are no fewer than 100,000 of them. Not all of them are Tongtian disciples; most of them are second, third, or even fourth, fifth, or sixth generation Shangqing disciples.
As for the first-generation disciples, they were recruited by Tongtian. Guang Chengzi himself was a first-generation disciple of Yuxu Palace, while Huoling Shengmu, a disciple with many treasures, was a second-generation disciple of Biyou Palace.
As for the Three Pure Ones, they are the founding ancestors of the palace, not included in the successive dynasties, transcending them, and standing high above.
Even so, these people still bear the title of Shangqing Immortals. Now they have all been morally educated and are no longer comparable to those who love bloodshed.
Looking at these vast immortals, who now possessed a certain celestial air, unlike their previous barbaric and crude manner, Guang Chengzi felt quite accomplished.
After all, it was something he built up bit by bit, and although it is only a spark now, who can say that it won't become a prairie fire in the future?
The reason why so many disciples of Biyou Palace have such low morals is not only because Tongtian is inactive, but also because those disciples of the first generation are inherently like this.
As the saying goes, "If the upper beam is not straight, the lower beam will be crooked too." The Seven Immortals, the Winged Immortals, and the Ten Heavenly Lords, who were constantly engaged in killing and eating raw flesh and blood, naturally had a very bad influence on the second and third generation disciples.
After all, everyone has a tendency to imitate. When people see others with this mindset, some will naturally and subconsciously try to imitate them.
Even without imitating, when they see the same behavior, they feel it's no big deal, which means they're completely rotten at their core.
Guang Chengzi didn't expect to achieve everything at once. He first corrected these junior disciples, and then corrected the older generation of disciples later.
"Could this be considered an invasion of Biyou Palace by the Jade Void Palace?"
Looking at those Shangqing immortals who spoke of profound philosophical principles and whose eyes radiated clarity, Guang Chengzi was at a loss for words.
But compared to those Shangqing immortals who loved to devour live flesh, he still found these Shangqing immortals more endearing.
Just as Guang Chengzi was about to continue explaining the Great Dao of Expounding Heaven, suddenly, rays of cosmic light radiated from the heavens above, and all kinds of blessings descended from the sky. Celestial music and divine sounds filled the air, and countless beams of fortune, like canopies, surged in from all directions, covering this area like a vast tide.
This is no longer the journey of a single great deity, but the appearance of a group of great deities, walking side by side, without strife or killing, with hearts at peace. This is a wondrous sight that has never been seen since the beginning of time.
Guang Chengzi stopped preaching and stood up. He looked up at the sky and suddenly saw the three streams of pure energy reaching the heavens. He felt joy in his heart and knew that the Three Pure Ones had returned.
Presumably, it was after the first sermon at Zixiao Palace that the gods returned to the primordial world, which caused these extraordinary omens.
Kunlun Mountain is the second most sacred mountain in the primordial world. Its towering peaks are so high that even a Great Luo Golden Immortal would find it difficult to see through them at a glance. Some of its peaks have even pierced through the chaos. Among the gods, the Three Pure Ones were naturally the first to return to their Daoist temples.
In addition to these three streams of pure energy, several magnificent divine lights also shot towards this place, but none of them were malicious. The Three Pure Ones did not stop them, but instead personally cleared the way in front of them, so they must have been ordinary beings.
Seeing the Three Pure Ones return with several fellow Daoists, Guang Chengzi had no time to think and hurriedly led many Shangqing immortals to the Eight Views Palace.
This palace was the residence of Laozi. Compared to the Jade Void Palace and the Biyou Palace, the Eight Views Palace seemed ordinary. There were even some traces of wind and rain on it. Birds still hovered on the eaves, and swallows brought thatch to build their nests. No one would have thought that a being feared by all the gods of the primordial world lived in this palace.
Guang Chengzi was also used to this. Laozi once called himself Wuwei Laojun, and traveled through the primordial world. He had a calm attitude towards all things in the world. As long as they did not harm him, he would let things develop as they would. If birds wanted to build nests on the Bajing Palace, Laozi would not care, because this was the way of nature and there was no need to care.
Not only Guang Chengzi rushed to the Bajing Palace, but the other Shangqing disciples also woke up from their seclusion or travels and headed towards the Bajing Palace to pay their respects to the three Heavenly Venerables.
Laozi is the head of the Three Pure Ones. If guests come, he will sit in the Eight Views Palace before visiting the Jade Void Palace or the Biyou Palace, and take a walk on Kunlun Mountain. This is also a way of showing hospitality.
Whether by coincidence or not, just as Guang Chengzi arrived outside the Bajing Palace with a large group of Shangqing immortals, another large group of immortals flew over to this place.
Compared to the dazzling fairy light and auspicious clouds on Guang Chengzi's side, those immortals were shrouded in gloom and gloom along the way, and the sky was filled with dark clouds. They were more like demons and monsters than immortals and gods.
Looking at those Shangqing immortals who resembled demons, the Shangqing immortals beside Guangchengzi all had strange expressions.
In the past, they would have been just like any other, and naturally wouldn't have thought anything of it. But now, after being educated in morality, they find these Shangqing immortals strange no matter how they look at them.
