Chapter 5

If I were to encounter someone like this, I would say one word: Kill!

A young Taoist priest strode into the Jade Void Palace with his head held high and chest out. He had sword-like eyebrows, bright eyes, a smile on his lips, a high nose bridge, and a dashing and debonair air, like a romantic young master who could easily hurt others.

However, on his face, there was an unyielding sharpness and sword-like aura that severed some emotions and added a touch of murderous intent, making him seem like a killing star descended to earth, killing wherever he went and causing unrest wherever he went.

Without a doubt, this person is Tongtian, also known as Shangqing Lingbao Tianzun among the Three Pure Ones, representing the end of the world, the depletion of all things, the five signs of decay of heaven and man, and the annihilation of all directions!

Behind Tongtian followed a large group of disciples.

Because he was about to meet the true form of Tongtian, Guangchengzi dared not look too closely. But in that one glance, he saw no fewer than dozens of people, each of whom had achieved success in cultivating the Shangqing Daoist arts. Above each of them, the Shangqing Lingbao Heavenly Light connected in a continuous line, making them quite majestic and extraordinary.

This only includes the disciples who are qualified to travel to and from the Jade Void Palace with Tongtian, not even counting the unfavored nominal disciples. Even so, there are already quite a few of them, which shows that the scale of the Ten Thousand Immortals Paying Homage is already taking shape.

After Tongtian asked the question with a smile, he nodded to Yuanshi Tianzun and said, "I congratulate you again on taking on such a fine disciple, Second Brother. Please don't blame me for being impolite; I was just excited to have this question."

Yuanshi Tianzun naturally wouldn't blame Tongtian, so he gestured for Guangchengzi to answer, while Tongtian plopped down next to Yuanshi Tianzun.

Compared to the dignified posture of Yuanshi Tianzun, Tongtian appeared carefree and unrestrained. It's likely that if he weren't facing so many juniors, this Biyou Palace Master would have lay down flat.

As for Duobao and the others who had dealt with Guangchengzi, they looked at him with slight surprise, never expecting that this mysterious Taoist would have the honor of becoming a disciple of Yuanshi Tianzun.

However, after they came to their senses, they didn't have many other emotions.

Jealous of Guang Chengzi?

Don't be ridiculous. With Yuanshi Tianzun's temperament, if they were to become his disciples, they would probably be beaten nine times in three days. How could they possibly enjoy the carefree life they had with Tongtian?

Some people were even secretly laughing to themselves. For example, Bixiao was very gloating, her beautiful eyes full of laughter, as if she could see the other party's future miserable state.

Although she thought she had concealed it very well, in front of Yuanshi Tianzun and Tongtian, her little actions were undoubtedly obvious and as clear as the lines on the palm of one's hand.

Seeing that this young woman actually regarded him as a wolf or tiger, and that Guang Chengzi's becoming his disciple was as unlucky as jumping into a fire pit, Yuanshi Tianzun felt slightly displeased.

However, the Palace Master of Jade Void Palace was reserved and naturally wouldn't bother with a junior. She was determined to teach Guang Chengzi a lesson so that the junior could save face for her.

As for Tongtian, he didn't take it to heart at all, or rather, he quite liked Bixiao's straightforwardness, her ability to laugh when happy and get angry when unhappy.

Guang Chengzi sat upright on the futon, pondering Tongtian's question. After a moment's thought, he said, "Reporting to Uncle Tongtian, if I were to encounter someone who uses the excuse of 'this is my nature' to kill indiscriminately, I would immediately execute them on the spot and utterly annihilate them."

His words were forceful and carried a chilling, bloodthirsty air, as if he had actually killed such a person.

Upon hearing this, Tongtian neither agreed nor disagreed, but casually threw out a three-foot-long sword, aiming straight for his face.

With his profound cultivation, every move he made was a manifestation of the Great Dao; no peerless sword technique could compare to his casual toss.

Now that he personally throws his sword, even a blade of grass carries the celestial trace of a gazelle hanging its horns, obscure and inexplicable, difficult to catch. Now it is heading straight for his face, and Guang Chengzi naturally feels an overwhelming sense of crisis descending upon him, making him want to use all his trump cards.

But a glimmer of spiritual light within him trembled slightly, instantly waking Guang Chengzi from his reverie. He then remained silent and still, letting the long sword fly by, simply because he believed in Yuanshi Tianzun.

Sure enough, when the longsword was only a foot away from his face, it suddenly stopped and then slowly fell into his hand.

Guang Chengzi grasped it and immediately felt a Daoist aura, no less than that of innate spirituality, emanating from the sword. Even though the sword was forged from acquired materials, this Daoist aura alone was enough to rival an innate spiritual treasure without being restrained.

"It's boring."

Seeing that he hadn't frightened Guang Chengzi, Tongtian pursed his lips, but still said, "This sword is called Tai'a. It was forged by me for my many disciples. Only inner disciples can obtain it. Consider it a gift for you."

Upon hearing this, Guang Chengzi immediately picked up the Tai'a sword with both hands and said respectfully, "This sword should belong to a disciple of Shangqing. I have joined the Yuqing sect and would never dare to hold this sword. Please take it back, Uncle."

"To even meet my master is an immense honor for me, how dare I presume upon this favor and possess this sword? Furthermore, I have not yet informed my master of this, and I truly cannot accept this item."

Tongtian, who was already somewhat depressed, felt a sinking feeling in his heart after seeing this. He had a feeling that he had met another minor Yuanshi Tianzun, and he was afraid that his many disciples would be in trouble in the future.

On the contrary, Yuanshi Tianzun was very pleased with Guangchengzi's attitude and said gently, "I cannot refuse the gift from an elder. My third brother and I have been together for countless millennia, so there is no need for such formalities."

With the permission of the Primordial Celestial Venerable, Guang Chengzi put away the Tai'a Sword. Before doing so, he repeatedly thanked Tongtian, showing no impropriety whatsoever.

"Hehehe, it's really lively. I didn't expect such a lively place to be in Yuxu Palace instead of Biyou Palace. It seems that Second Brother will have to take on more disciples. In the future, I will be the only old one left."

Just as Guang Chengzi sat down, another voice came from outside Yuxu Palace.

But after this person spoke, not only Tongtian stood up, but even Yuanshi Tianzun became serious, which shows how noble the newcomer was.

When the two venerable ones stood up, the other disciples naturally could not remain seated either, and one by one they stood up in accordance with their masters.

Amidst the intense attention, a serene-faced, white-bearded old man slowly walked into the palace.

The old man's expression was neither a smile nor a cry, neither joy nor sorrow; his expression always seemed to remain within a certain limit. He contained everything; he was everything, and he was not everything.

Like nature itself, with its myriad rivers and mountains, the five elements and yin and yang are all contained within it. Water is nature, and mountains are nature, but nature is neither water nor mountains. It encompasses everything, and therefore is not everything.

As Guang Chengzi looked at the old man, he felt as if he were personally witnessing the Great Dao. An invisible aura poured in from his philtrum, sweeping over his entire body from top to bottom.

The originally unruly and unyielding Doushuai Lamp, under the influence of this aura, obediently released all its restrictions, allowing Guang Chengzi to completely refine it.

Then, just like the Jade Void Treasure Box, it transformed into a lamp-shaped spiritual light that lingered within his body, silently releasing its own Great Dao truths, adding bricks and tiles to Guang Chengzi's cultivation.

Yuanshi Tianzun and Tongtian said in unison, "Greetings, elder brother."

Many disciples bowed and greeted, "Greetings, Senior Uncle."

The visitor was none other than Laozi, the head of the Three Pure Ones, the Supreme Pure Moral Heavenly Venerable.
