Chapter 16

Magic Contract

Chapter 16 Magical Contract (Please continue reading)

Chloe hesitated for a moment. The recipe for this cream was indeed a promising market opportunity that was clearly visible to the naked eye. The Falklow Merchant Guild could not miss this opportunity.

"Alright! But to ensure the deal goes through, we need to sign a magic contract!"

Upon hearing this, Mia was taken aback.

Alphonse had originally intended to ask how to ensure that Falkrods wouldn't falsify accounts and deceive him, but after hearing Chloe mention the magic contract, he couldn't help but become curious. Shouldn't this be binding on both parties?

"How do I sign it?"

"This requires special contract paper and magic ink. Excuse me, please wait here for a moment." Chloe stood up and walked out.

"Magic contracts aren't cheap. It seems I can trust you; this formula can fetch an even higher price."

With no one else in the room, Mia spoke without restraint.

"Huh?" Alphonse was a little confused. Aren't magical contracts common in other worlds?

Is it expensive?

"Magic contracts are only sold by the Church of Justice. They are said to be blessed by the God of Justice, Nazar, to bind both parties to the agreement. Each one costs at least 1000 gold coins," Mia explained.

Alphonse then began to understand, "There really is such a thing as divine blessing?"

It's not surprising that extraordinary powers exist in other worlds, but when it comes to gods, that's an experience I've never had before.

"Mm." Mia nodded.

"Do gods often interfere in human affairs?" Alphonse asked curiously.

"I don't know, but miracles do exist in the world, and magical contracts are one of them. However, I don't understand whether anyone other than priests of various sects can receive divine protection. Compared to divine blessings, I believe more in my own strength," Mia said calmly.

"Don't you have a god you believe in?" Alphonse couldn't help but ask again.

"Half-elves are called the forsaken children of the gods, whether they have faith or not makes no difference." Mia's bright eyes narrowed slightly, as if she had mentioned something she didn't want to talk about.

He paused, as if he had thought of something, "When Miss Chloe is writing the contract later, she should include me as well. The lady really likes the taste of cream, and I hope to make it for her."

"Can't I tell you after signing the contract?" Alphonse asked in astonishment.

"Since it involves confidentiality, once the magic contract is signed, you will never be able to tell anyone the formula again." Mia said with a serious expression, not at all like she was joking.

Is there really such a bizarre thing?

Alphonse simply found it hard to understand.

Just as I was about to say, "Maybe I should tell you now," Chloe returned with a few sheets of paper and a small jar of ink.

The two sheets of paper at the top were noticeably different; they were thicker than ordinary paper, off-white in color, and had a ring of strange gold patterns drawn around the edges.

This must be the contract paper of the magic contract.

Chloe picked up the quill and uncapped the inkwell. "Please allow me to confirm one more time: the recipe for this cream was indeed created by you, Lord Alphonse. Are you the only one who knew about it?"

"Is this important?" Alphonse asked doubtfully, having already noticed that the ink was indeed somewhat strange, shimmering with tiny specks of light.

"It's very important; everything needs to be written in the contract. It's related to whether the contract can be valid," Chloe replied earnestly.

"Yes." Alphonse was genuinely uneasy. It wouldn't be good to lie now. He couldn't very well make up the name of a bard again. The events of his previous life shouldn't be related to this world, right?

Mia, standing behind him, turned cold. Alphonse clearly said that the recipe was taught to him by that magical bard, so how did it become his creation? Wasn't he afraid that the contract wouldn't be fulfilled?

Seeing Chloe dip her brush in the ink, Alphonse quickly brought up Mia's wishes again.

Chloe seemed unconcerned and readily agreed, asking for their full names again before beginning to write the contract.

Although he was born into a farming family, the old baron had hired a tutor for him, so he could read most of the characters.

The ink shimmered with starlight, yet it only produced black characters, showing no unusual characteristics.

The contract wasn't long. It basically stated that Alphonse would give the cream recipe to Chloe of the Falklow Company, giving her full authority over its production and sales. Alphonse could only tell the cream recipe to Mia, and Mia could only make it herself and couldn't tell anyone else.

On the other hand, Chloe's side will also abide by the confidentiality rules to prevent the formula from being leaked. Then there are the detailed profit sharing rules. The Falklow Chamber of Commerce promises not to falsify the accounts or deceive Alphonse, and there will be monthly settlements and other similar rules.

If the Falkrod Merchant Guild, represented by Chloe, breaches the contract, it will have to compensate Alphonse with 100,000 gold coins. Similarly, if Alphonse leaks the formula, he will suffer the magical backlash stipulated in the contract if he does not make compensation.

Alphonse looked at the contract and couldn't really find anything wrong with it, except that the penalty for breach of contract was a bit too high.

The main reason is that I've never signed one before, so it's a completely new experience.

Unable to project his spiritual senses outwards for the time being, Alphonse couldn't detect any special aura.

Chloe copied the contract again before saying, "If there are no problems, we can sign it."

"No problem," Alphonse nodded.

Chloe was the first to pick up the quill pen and sign her full name on both contracts.

Alphonse did not hesitate and signed his name on the contract.

Suddenly, a golden Scales phantom appeared in the void before them.

The edges of the parchment on the table also rippled with a golden hue.

These are all clearly visible to the naked eye.

Alphonse was stunned.

Amazing!

A flash of golden light.

After the light faded, Libra disappeared without a trace, and there was nothing unusual about the contract.

This signifies the formation of the contract. Mia already felt that Alphonse had lied to her and was very unhappy, but she couldn't bring herself to accuse him.

"The contract is done, you can tell me the recipe now," Chloe said.

Alphonse wrote down the recipe as instructed, showed it to Mia, and then handed it to Chloe.

Chloe never expected that the recipe for making butter would be so simple and inexpensive.

However, as long as it is promoted and operated by the Chamber of Commerce, the selling price will definitely not be low.

As for the claims made to the public, the raw materials must be very expensive, otherwise how could it be sold at such a high price?

"I hope we can cooperate well. I'll have someone bring the gold coins." Chloe picked up a contract and a cream recipe, pushed another contract in front of Alphonse, and then stood up happily.

Alphonse immediately thought of something, "Wait, Miss Chloe, does your trading company sell Higram Grass?"

There's no need to bother two different suppliers. If the Falkrod Merchant Guild has all the goods you need, there's no need to buy them elsewhere.
