Chapter 27
Soldiers Riot

Mia's fighting spirit had already reached its limit, but she was still unable to break through to the next level.
She also harbored a deep-seated belief: she needed to become stronger in order to achieve that wish.
In addition, Alphonse has changed quite a bit during this period.
His personality had clearly changed. Although it could be explained by the fact that he had become more mature and composed after the old baron's death, Mia still found it strange.
That enigmatic bard was like a mystery; how could he have taken a liking to a libertine like Alphonse and taught him so much for no apparent reason?
Does this person actually exist?
I stood there quietly for an hour or so.
Alphonse and Tessie repeated eight or nine movements in a cycle, which Mia found easy to understand and remember.
There's no need to learn from Alphonse. Just read it a couple of times, memorize it, and try it out in your spare time.
Little did Mia know that this was not the whole picture of Alphonse's forging method, but only the beginning.
If your body is too weak, you will naturally practice fewer movements in order to loosen your muscles and tendons. The later movements cannot be learned just by watching; you also need to learn the methods of internal energy circulation.
Alphonse gradually felt his body's fatigue level was about to reach its peak, and his thin clothes were completely soaked with sweat.
I'll practice a little longer, then I'll go sit in meditation to cultivate my inner energy.
The Yi Jin Duan Gu Pian (易筋锻骨篇) is indeed incredibly effective. I can already feel the meridians throughout my body opening up. After practicing for a couple more days, it will be much easier to perform some difficult poses.
It won't be like it is now, where I can't even take a step.
Suddenly, Alphonse heard a commotion of voices.
Looking in the direction of the sound, they saw a large group of soldiers in leather helmets and armor walking quickly toward the castle.
There were at least seventy or eighty people, none of them were armed, and they were arguing as they walked. Captain Simon was among them, and he was the loudest, seemingly yelling at the group.
Alphonse looked around but didn't see the other captain, Thompson.
Seeing this, Taisi stopped what he was doing, reached into his backpack, and grabbed his long-handled black metal ladle.
As they drew closer, Alphonse could make out some of the words.
"Stopping us won't work; we just want to get to the bottom of this!"
"Have you all forgotten how well the lord treated us? Go back now!" Captain Simon roared angrily, veins bulging on his face.
"That was the lord, he has passed away!"
"That's right! Alphonse will be in charge of Coldwind Territory from now on, and we don't even know how he'll treat us!"
"Everyone, just listen to Captain Simon and go back! Stop fooling around!"
Amidst the cacophony of voices, a large group of soldiers shouted at Captain Simon, though a minority did speak up for him.
Judging from this trend, it seems to be directed at me.
If they hadn't been unarmed, we would have thought they were about to launch a rebellion.
Alphonse took a deep breath, adjusted his breathing, and dragged his exhausted body forward.
Taixi quickly grabbed her spoon and followed behind.
Upon reaching the castle, they saw Alphonse slowly approaching again. The soldiers' arguing stopped, and they looked at each other with flickering eyes.
It seems no one wants to be the first to speak out.
"What's going on here?" Alphonse asked.
Captain Simon snapped to attention, stamped his foot, and slightly raised his right arm, which was still slinged around his chest and abdomen, to give a barely perfunctory salute.
"Young Master, I'm sorry, something happened, I couldn't stop them."
His expression was filled with embarrassment and guilt.
A dozen or so soldiers stood behind him, clearly not with the troublemakers.
Looking at the dense crowd before him, Alphonse suppressed his displeasure and asked, "What do you want?"
A voice suddenly rang out from the back of the crowd, "The lord's manor owes a huge debt, doesn't it?"
As soon as someone spoke, the crowd erupted in cheers.
"What will happen to our military spending in the future?"
"Are you even going to pay our salaries anymore?"
"We need to live too!"
In an instant, it became as noisy as a vegetable market.
Captain Simon was anxious and angry, and he roared and shouted repeatedly to stop them, but he couldn't quell the soldiers' clamor.
"Shut up, all of you!"
A deafening roar.
The shockwave made everyone's eardrums ring, and the scene fell silent instantly.
The soldiers looked at Alphonse with suspicion and uncertainty.
No one expected that Alphonse would be able to unleash such a huge roar, suppressing the shouts of the crowd.
Alphonse didn't just shout it out casually; he brought with him the sonic power of the Sound Demon Sect, one of the seven branches of the Holy Gate.
At this moment, the true energy within his body is still weak. Although it cannot be as swift and powerful as thunder in his previous life, capable of shaking the enemy for miles and causing them to tremble with fear, it is sufficient to intimidate the crowd in front of him.
Seeing that things had quieted down, Alphonse spoke leisurely, "Indeed, the lord's manor does owe a huge debt. So, what do you want to do about it?"
His cold gaze swept over them. "Overthrow me? Replace me with a new lord?"
After waiting for a while, no one dared to answer that question.
Alphonse is the rightful heir to the Coldwind Territory. Even if something happens to him, the decision to change the lord is not something a group of soldiers can make.
Even though they are the three knights of the Frostwind Territory, they have no right to inherit the territory. The Queen will either take it back or grant it to another noble.
"Nobody's saying anything, is that it?" Alphonse sneered. "Anyone who doesn't want to stay in Coldwind Territory can just say so. You can leave; I won't stop you!"
Still no one answered.
The previous lord treated these soldiers well; serving under another nobleman might not guarantee a salary comparable to theirs.
"None of you want to leave?" Alphonse looked around before speaking. "I can tell you, I have a way to resolve the debt issue. Your salaries will still be paid on time, not a single copper coin less! Just do your jobs well!"
The voice rang out again from the crowd, "Where's the evidence? What if you're lying to us?"
Suddenly, the soldiers started making a ruckus again.
"Yeah, what if you lied?"
"I heard the lord's manor owes three thousand gold coins; that's no small sum!"
"How are you going to repay such a huge debt?"
"How can we trust you? You won't withhold our salaries!"
"Shut up!" Alphonse roared again, completely silencing the cacophony.
He pointed at the soldiers in front of him, "Who gave you the courage to question me? I've made myself clear! Those who don't believe me, get out now! Get out of Coldwind Territory! I don't need soldiers who disobey my orders!"
Silence reigned.
The soldiers dared to make a fuss, but not a single one of them actually left.
