Chapter 49
Reorganizing the Guard
Chapter 49 Reorganizing the Guard
Those who are bewitched by the Soul-Capturing Technique will completely lose their minds and become like puppets. However, there is another way to use it: to plant a mental suggestion in the mind of the other person, so that they are no different from others at other times.
This is also a method used by the Holy Demon Sect to control righteous disciples and use them as their own spies.
The people in this other world are much easier to control than those from prestigious sects.
Unlike the high-ranking figures of Shaolin and Wudang, who possess exceptional composure in both Buddhism and Taoism, even the masters of Huashan and Kunlun who uphold Confucian ideals and cultivate righteous energy are not easily manipulated.
Upon hearing the snap of his fingers, the confusion in Simon's eyes vanished instantly, replaced by a furious roar, "Thompson cannot be let off so easily! He will pay the price for murdering the Baron!"
"Alright, Simon, calm down. Now I need you to gather all the soldiers. I'm going to expose Thompson's crimes in front of them. Have your men keep a close eye on Thompson's soldiers to prevent any further trouble," Alphonse said.
Captain Simon quickly nodded, "Your Lordship, you can rest assured. It should only be Thompson who has rebellious intentions. His soldiers have followed the old lord through countless battles, and I don't think they will betray us."
"It's always good to be on guard. This is not only to avenge my father, but also to ensure the peace of Coldwind Territory. We can't let the guards cause trouble." Alphonse didn't believe that Thompson was the only traitor. People's hearts are unpredictable, and those who can share hardships may not be able to share wealth.
Moreover, the Tartarus family received the lion's share of the rewards for their military achievements.
Simon nodded again and ran out of the barracks.
After a while, Simon ran back to report that the soldiers had assembled.
Alphonse then led the dazed Thompson outside.
Upon reaching the platform of the training ground, Alphonse looked around.
Simon was quite adept at handling things; he actually managed to get all the soldiers to lay down their weapons and come to assemble.
Without further hesitation, he coldly ordered Thompson, "Kneel down."
Thompson immediately knelt down with a "thud".
The riflemen, already whispering in disbelief when they saw Thompson covered in blood, immediately stirred up a commotion when he knelt down.
Simon's soldiers, however, knew the gist of it and kept a close eye on their colleagues lined up nearby.
Alphonse nodded in satisfaction; things were better than he had expected, and the riflemen had not mutinied.
In the worst-case scenario, the only option is to summon the Shadow Ants to bury the spearmen; those with treacherous intentions cannot remain in the guard.
He cleared his throat and said loudly, "Today, I have gathered you all here to expose Thompson's crimes. My father, your former lord, did not die accidentally, but was a premeditated murder!"
These words startled the soldiers, and all eyes turned to Alphonse.
Alphonse once again ordered Thompson, "Recount the details of the crimes you committed."
Thompson recounted the entire incident in a blank voice.
The soldiers were stunned.
An uproar ensued.
Captain Simon's sword and shield guards only knew that Thompson had thoughts of betrayal, but they were unaware that he had committed such an unforgivable crime.
Most of the spearmen were the same; they never expected that Thompson would actually collude with outsiders to murder the old lord.
In the battle against that giant-toothed wolf, not only the old lord died, but also many of their comrades who had fought alongside them.
Alphonse quietly observed the crowd below the platform, noticing a few soldiers whose eyes darted around, revealing unease.
They must be in the know.
"This incident has deeply saddened me. Thompson has committed such a crime and deserves the death penalty. Therefore, as the new lord of Coldwind Territory, I hereby declare that Thompson is stripped of his knighthood and sentenced to death!"
As soon as he finished speaking, Alphonse slapped Thompson on the top of the head.
Thompson's head exploded instantly, and his body went limp, leaving red and white fluids all over the ground.
Everyone stood frozen in shock, staring blankly at Alphonse.
No one expected that Alphonse would execute Thompson in such a bloody manner.
While they were still reeling from the shock, Alphonse’s eyes shone with a mesmerizing light, and his words took on a strange rhythm.
"I believe that all of you present here are loyal soldiers, willing to swear allegiance to the Tartarus family to the death. As your lord, I will work together with you to protect this land and defend the honor of the Tartarus family. Coldwind Territory will usher in new opportunities, grow stronger, and have a bright future."
Simon looked at the soldiers below the stage and suddenly realized something.
All the soldiers listened to Alphonse's speech with blank expressions, showing no sign of being encouraged, like puppets devoid of any emotion.
This is exactly the same situation that Thompson just experienced.
In the heat of the moment, no one paid attention to why Thompson would confess everything without reservation.
"My lord."
For a moment, Simon didn't know how to comfort him.
What kind of magic is this?
They were able to control such a large number of soldiers.
Alphonse turned and glanced at Simon. "You shouldn't question any decisions I make."
Simon paused for a moment, then quickly lowered his head. "Yes!"
Alphonse knew very well that the soldiers of Coldwind Territory were all veterans brought back by the old baron from the Southern Legion. The old baron had the prestige to keep them in check, but he himself was far from that level, as evidenced by the last riot by the soldiers.
Instead of spending time and effort to subdue them, it's better to use the Soul-Capturing Technique to plant the seeds of loyalty in their hearts.
To build a loyal and loyal guard, you must, of course, teach them martial arts techniques.
Absolute loyalty is necessary.
Human nature is unpredictable, and not everyone can stay true to themselves when faced with self-interest.
Winning people's hearts is too troublesome!
Alphonse looked again at the crowd below the stage and coldly shouted, "Soldiers who participated in the murder of my father, come out! Stand aside!"
Immediately, seven soldiers left the ranks and huddled together, looking dazed.
"You have betrayed your master, so pay the price. Take your own lives one by one." Alphonse drew his longsword from Simon's waist and threw it over.
Simon was shocked to see that the soldiers showed no resistance whatsoever. One picked up a longsword and stabbed it into his heart, while the next pulled a sword from his colleague and stabbed himself in a vital spot.
In just a short while, they all fell into pools of blood and died.
Simon couldn't help but glance at Alphonse with a chill.
Alphonse merely observed the entire process with a detached eye, then lightly flicked his finger.
A few wisps of dark air rose from the bodies of several soldiers and Thompson's corpse and landed in his palm.
