Chapter 32

The Envoy from the Capital

Chapter 32 The Envoy from the Capital

Alphonse still felt a bit strange about the mother of this world.

He had no reservations about her because he could sense that her love for him was genuine.

It's not that I'm born lacking love, but I've always held the belief that I should treat those who are good to me well in return.

It's that simple.

He called Mia out and Alphonse pointed with a grin to the wooden bowl on the tray that Tessie was holding. "This is a dessert that Tessie has carefully prepared. Please have a taste."

Mia glared at Alphonse with annoyance. "Why don't you go in and greet the lady?"

"We'll go in a bit, you should try it first," Alphonse urged again.

Mia frowned slightly. "Does this include a portion for the madam?"

Taisi nodded. "Yes!"

Mia remained wary of Tessie and wasn't entirely comfortable with the food he brought; how could she give it to Mrs. Mary without tasting it herself?

Moreover, this food looks very unusual; I've never seen a dessert like this before.

Alphonse had already given Tessie orders that she could not tell Mia what ingredients the dessert was made of before she had tasted it, and if Lady Mary could not accept it, she could not be allowed to try it.

Tessie didn't think it mattered much, and probably understood that Alphonse wanted to play a prank, but he just wanted to share the delicious food he had cooked.

Because of the slave contract, he had no way to refuse Alphonse's orders.

Mia picked up a wooden spoon, scooped up a small piece, and examined it closely. "This dessert looks really pretty."

How could it not be beautiful? Like amethyst, it shines even brighter under the light shining through the room, taking on a dazzling brilliance.

Alphonse secretly chuckled as he watched Mia put the "jelly" into her mouth.

Instantly, a look of infatuation appeared on Mia's pretty face.

This is another delicious treat I've never tasted before, no less delicious than the cream made by Alphonse.

It also has a more refreshing taste.

Even if she is strong in martial arts, she is still a girl, and how could she resist the temptation of sweets?

"This tastes so good!"

The words of praise almost came out of his mouth, and he couldn't help but take another spoonful, savoring it carefully.

Only then did he manage a rare smile at Tess, "You did a good job! The lady should also try this delicious dessert!"

As he spoke, he reached for the tray in Taixi's hands.

"Wait, aren't you going to ask what this dessert is made of?" Alphonse interrupted, his heart filled with schadenfreude.

In his predecessor's memories, he had heard bards sing some chivalric novels in taverns. Those self-proclaimed noble elves were all germaphobes. If Mia knew that this delicious dessert was made of slime, hehehehe!

"What is it made of?" Mia asked, her curiosity piqued.

"Slime," Tessie answered without hesitation.

Mia paused for a moment, then asked Tessie seriously, "You can make something this delicious using slime as an ingredient?"

Alphonse: "."

This reaction isn't right!

Shouldn't you immediately feel nauseous and run to vomit?

I'd love to see you break down your defenses!

This unscientific!

You must be a fake elf!

Tessie was already excitedly recounting her story when Alphonse couldn't help but interrupt, "Mia, don't you find these ingredients hard to accept?"

"What's so hard to accept?" Mia glanced at Alphonse with a puzzled look. "It's just a slime's corpse, isn't it? The beef, venison, and pork you usually eat are all animal carcasses, aren't they? Don't interrupt!"

Alphonse was greatly disappointed.

I never expected that Mia could calmly accept slime as food.

After listening to Tessie's explanation, Mia took the tray and placed the slime "jelly" inside.

Alphonse was very depressed, and could only dejectedly lead Tessie inside to greet his mother.

Mrs. Mary looked much better; her face had regained some color and was no longer deathly pale.

She was leaning against the headboard when she saw her beloved son walk in, and her eyes lit up.

Alphonse obediently stepped forward to greet them and introduced Tessie in the process.

Lady Mary had heard about this from Mia before, and she treated Tessie kindly, without looking down on him because of his status as a slave.

It was clear that Lady Mary was very surprised to hear that the dessert was made with slime.

After tasting it, they praised it highly and were generous with their compliments.

Alphonse felt he had underestimated the tolerance of the people in this other world.

It seems that in their eyes, anything that can be eaten is a good thing.

We chatted for a while.

Many people feel that monsters like slimes are not suitable for widespread adoption, as they pose a certain danger to ordinary people. If someone's head and face are covered, they will be unable to escape and will suffocate to death.

It exists throughout the entire Coldwind Territory, but not in large numbers.

Mia felt that as long as the lady liked it, that was enough; she could go with Tessie to catch more.

According to the habits of slimes, they will hibernate in the cold winter, at which time they will be difficult to catch.

Alphonse had a new idea: since Tessie had discovered that slimes had edible value, could they raise a few in captivity and let them reproduce on their own?

Both Tessie and Mia thought the idea was feasible.

Slimes are dark creatures and omnivorous; they can eat anything except dirt and rocks, making them easy to raise.

The only challenge is that they wander around aimlessly, and ordinary cages can't contain them; if there's a gap, they can squeeze out.

But if you can make an airtight cage, you can keep them locked up.

The task of carrying it out was naturally left to Tessi and Mia.

Alphonse still has to work hard to hone his inner strength.

As long as we don't raise a cute little king, everything is fine.

Several days passed in the blink of an eye.

Alphonse continued to train with Tessie every day, occasionally taking time to visit his mother.

After his morning workout, Taisi would wander around the mountains within his territory.

Mia had already gone with him to catch a round of slimes, built a stone house in the courtyard, and kept a few of them there.

Alphonse witnessed the construction of the stone house firsthand. Mia displayed her skills by carrying back a huge rock and hollowing it out with just an ordinary iron sword, turning it into a stone house.

It only took her a little over half an hour from start to finish. The fine iron sword in her hands was like a divine weapon, cutting through stone as easily as cutting tofu. She even made some repairs to the exterior, making the whole stone house look exceptionally square and beautiful.

In the past few days, other things have happened, including a major one.

An envoy from the capital has arrived.

Three knights, clad in full armor and gleaming silver, rode tall, magnificent horses.

I can't tell their strength, but their outfit is quite intimidating.
