Chapter 75

Returning to the Anthill

Chapter 75 Returning to the Anthill

Simon had more to do; he also had to settle the blacksmiths who had come with him and their families.

Accommodation isn't a problem. The families of those traitors were evicted beforehand, so the houses are all empty. They can be tidied up and moved in.

Alphonse felt that it was a waste of Simon's talents to only make him a captain of the guard. This kind-hearted, strong man was very capable of handling government affairs, and he could carry out the tasks assigned to him in an orderly manner.

Perhaps making him an assistant to handle various matters would be a good idea.

Baron Swood had such advisors.

That can be considered later. Among the guards, Simon and Jeru are the most outstanding, and Alphonse is not yet sure which of his soldiers is more capable.

Let Simon temporarily serve as the captain of the guard, and let him choose a replacement later.

The guards won a battle, and the bonuses that were due still needed to be paid out. This matter was entrusted to Jeru.

Mia will provide him with whatever money he needs.

It was too late, and Alphonse didn't plan to take the Holy Snow Crystal to the Queen Ant.

It's not an urgent matter; we can deal with it the next day.

Upon returning to the castle, Alphonse immediately found his mother, Lady Mary, waiting at the door, with Monica, dressed as a servant, obediently following behind her.

Although Lady Mary had heard from Mia that Alphonse had returned safely, he had fallen behind because he was taking the little wizard he had rescued to see Doctor Hawke for treatment.

But without seeing her son in person, she could not shake off her worries.

During the time her son was away on the battlefield, she was constantly worried that something might happen to him.

Upon seeing Alphonse, the heavy weight on his heart finally lifted.

If Alphonse hadn't been carrying someone in his arms, she almost would have rushed over and hugged him.

"Son, you're finally back safe and sound! That's wonderful!"

Alphonse could tell that his mother's voice was full of joy and excitement, and her eyes were brimming with tears.

Although she was somewhat unaccustomed to such tenderness, she still smiled gently and said, "I told you I would be fine. Our Cold Wind Territory's guards are quite strong."

Lady Mary wiped away the tears from the corners of her eyes, smiled and nodded, calming herself slightly before looking at the little boy in Alphonse's arms. "Is this the magician you rescued?"

In her mind, magicians were very noble figures with magical powers, but the little boy's innocent face was quite different from what she had imagined.

Looking at the little boy's pale face, I couldn't help but feel a pang of pity.

"Yes," Alphonse replied affirmatively.

"I've already had the maid prepare a room. Let's take him there to rest. The child is so pitiful; he's so young and has suffered such serious injuries," Mrs. Mary said with deep sympathy.

"Okay." Alphonse replied, and followed his mother to the guest room. He put the little boy on the bed, took off his shoes, and settled him in.

Monica then spoke, "Master, hot water has been prepared for you. You may take a bath now."

"Son, you must be very tired too. Take a bath and go to bed early," Mrs. Mary chimed in.

Initially, she harbored resentment towards Monica. If Monica hadn't wanted to annul the engagement, her son wouldn't have needed to engage in an honorary duel with that Keberi.

But after spending these few days together, I felt that Monica wasn't a bad person at all; in fact, she was unusually docile. It seemed that I shouldn't treat her so harshly and make her a maid.

But it's not something I can decide on my own; my son is all grown up and has his own ideas.

For a nobleman, having a lover is not a big deal.

The son may have had those kinds of thoughts in mind when he made Monica his personal maid.

If it could produce a bloodline for the Tartarus family, that would be a good thing.

However, Mrs. Mary had some other thoughts.

She had already heard from Mia that Alphonse had inherited witchcraft from the magical bard Edson and possessed considerable strength.

Alphonse is now a good match for Mia, isn't he?

During this time, Alphonse also became very close to Mia.

She had long regarded Mia as her daughter, and it would be wonderful if Mia could marry Alphonse.

I'm a little worried that something might happen between Monica and Alphonse that might upset Mia.

It's not appropriate to offer a reminder about something like this.

Alphonse had no idea his mother would have such thoughts.

Once in the bathroom, I removed my armor and immersed myself in the steaming warm water, letting out a long sigh of relief.

Southerners still can't change their habits; if they don't shower for a day or two, they feel uncomfortable all over.

This is hard to understand. Why can my colleagues from the north go for days without showering?

Monica carried the change of clothes into the bathroom, placed them on the wooden shelf, knelt respectfully to the side, placed her hands on her knees, and asked softly, "Master, would you like me to scrub your back?"

"No need," Alphonse waved his hand.

It's not time to "eat" her yet, lest things escalate.

Seeing Monica struggling to lift the armor and move it outwards with difficulty.

Alphonse spoke again, "You don't need to worry about that armor anymore. Go back to your room, train hard, and don't slack off."

She had only been cultivating for a few days and her talent was not particularly outstanding. She only managed to condense some true energy with the help of the Refining Spirit Incense.

For a noble lady who was originally powerless, doing this job was indeed a bit difficult.

"Yes!" Monica obediently agreed, put down the armor, and then walked out.

Alphonse then began to think about it.

In this territorial war, Coldwind Territory has fully revealed its strength. If it wants to develop more steadily in the future, it cannot leave any potential troubles behind.

The Count and his son, Mujik, had to be dealt with eventually; eliminating them completely was the best solution.

However, we need to find the right time.

Count Mujik's strength on the battlefield should not be underestimated.

A light clench of the fist.

In a few days, once the last Yin meridian is opened and the second level of the Innate Formless Divine Skill is mastered, the third level of the mental cultivation method will begin. With the Yin and Yang meridians running in parallel, the Innate Formless Finger Sword will be usable, and one should be more confident in its use.

Early the next morning.

Alphonse summoned several soldiers and requisitioned several carts from within his territory to transport all the sacred snow crystals up the mountain.

There's no way the carriage can get on.

The jungle was so dense that only a cart could barely pass through.

This road was only opened up after some trees were cut down during previous shipments of gold-eating ant excrement and iron ore.

Once outside the anthill, the soldiers no longer needed to follow, and the cart could no longer enter the anthill.

Alphonse summoned a group of shadow soldiers, picked up the Holy Snow Crystal, and entered the cave.
