Chapter 35

The King of Verbal Strength

Chapter 35 The King of Verbal Strength

Televisions installed throughout the club simultaneously switched to a cable channel, broadcasting a major art performance.

The film's biggest feature is its combination of handsome men and beautiful women; their looks and physiques are absolutely top-notch.

As for other aspects, let's not mention them.

After all, even the background music is classical music that doesn't require copyright fees.

In a good mood, Kelly joked, "I remember, the supporting actress fought zombies?"

Martin followed her lead and said, "You invest in one, and I'll show you how zombies fight beautiful women."

Kelly, slightly tipsy after downing a glass of wine, said, "I'll talk to Benjamin about having him write a script, so that I can tell you... what did the crew say?"

She laughed so hard she almost fell over: "Mortars are firing everywhere!"

Martin asked, "Catherine? Or Benjamin? I'm going to settle the score with them later."

Kelly looked up at the TV: "Your scenes have started."

On stage, Hart's voice rang out: "Our handsome Martin is on stage! Look! He's charging at the beautiful woman with a gun, trying to steal her away!"

He exclaimed in an exaggerated tone, "Go Martin! The exciting moment is here! We'll be able to witness Martin's epic battle soon..."

Hart couldn't continue speaking because Martin's character on TV was shot in the head by the male lead and died on the ground.

Even more tragically, he died with his eyes wide open, witnessing the male lead and female supporting character engage in a battle that claimed hundreds of millions of lives right before his eyes.

Bruce felt sorry for him and came over to comfort him: "You're just watching others do it..."

Martin consoled himself: "I got a close-up! See? My first movie got a close-up!"

Benjamin Calvin, that twisted director, actually went so far as to give close-up shots to a background character in order to highlight the contrast.

Seeing the tense atmosphere, Hart, not wanting to upset Martin's father, quickly shouted, "Martin Davis, so you really wanted to destroy the Earth!"

The entire audience was shocked, then burst into laughter.

Kelly laughed so hard she covered her face with one hand while slapping the bar with the other.

Martin, his face contorted with grief and indignation, asked, "Is it funny?"

"Sorry." Kelly suppressed a laugh, looked up, and when she saw Martin's handsome face, she remembered the terrified expression on his face when he stared at the male and female leads with wide eyes, and she laughed again.

Martin lamented, "It's all over! My good reputation!"

Kelly stopped laughing, suddenly stood up, grabbed a microphone, and loudly proclaimed, "I'd like to treat everyone to a drink to Martin Davis, he's a great actor!"

The laughter that had filled the room instantly turned into applause and cheers, with people offering encouragement as a gesture of goodwill, given the drink Kelly had bought for them.

"Martin, you acted wonderfully!"

"I'll remember your terrified face for a week."

Most of them are just incredibly frivolous.

"Handsome guy, I am Earth, come over here!"

"Auntie will help you maintain your weapon!"

"I need to check your ammunition reserves!"

The waiters brought out the beers one after another, and the noise finally subsided.

Martin poured himself a glass of whiskey and Kelly a glass of fruit wine: "It's horrible. Hell is empty, and succubi are on earth."

Kelly exclaimed, "It's amazing you've survived this long."

"Because no matter how much money they offer or how much they tempt me, I remain unmoved." Martin, brimming with integrity, said, "I know what my goal is."

He was always so honest: "I want to be an actor, a star!"

Kelly cautioned, "This road is not easy to walk on."

Martin clinked glasses with her: "For someone like me, what path is easy? The easy path is to join a slum gang, become a henchman selling flour and seaweed, and who knows when I'll die in a ditch."

He shrugged: "Difficult paths and easy paths are actually the same to me; they're both incredibly difficult."

Kelly didn't mind Martin's profanity; instead, she felt a pang of sympathy for his genuine emotions: "Life is always so messed up."

Martin downed his drink in one gulp: "It's fucking ridiculous."

Kelly finished her fruit wine, settled the bill with Bruce for his beer, and turned back to him: "Martin, it's so relaxing chatting with you, you're an interesting guy." She then pulled out another $20 and placed it on the bar: "Same as always, your drink is on you, I'll leave the tip."

Martin pocketed the money: "I won't stand on ceremony with you."

"You've treated me to drinks twice, I'll treat you to dinner later. Never mind, I can't say when I'll be free, I'll call you then." Before leaving, Kelly suddenly beckoned to Martin with her finger, and when he leaned closer, she whispered, "Sometimes, I'll introduce you to someone."

Martin asked with natural curiosity, "Who is this mysterious person?"

Kelly waved her hand: "You'll find out then."

Putting everything else aside, just for that cup of paper airplane, the female drunkard would definitely come over.

As they walked away, Bruce asked, "Are you just leaving like that?"

Martin asked in surprise, "Why are you staying instead of leaving?"

Bruce nodded: "I see now, all your talent is in your mouth."

Martin was far more thick-skinned than Bruce, and he immediately retorted, "Of course not like you, whose skin is on your tongue."

The bar was still doing brisk business, with customer traffic increasing by more than a third compared to before. When it was time to close, Martin had two pockets full of tips and called Bruce, who had hitched a ride with him, to go back to Marietta.

Bruce's old pickup truck couldn't hold up any longer, and he was preparing to get a new car.

Upon arriving in the Bacca neighborhood, Bruce got out of the car. Martin, seeing that Bruce's house was lit up, deliberately called out, "Old Bruce, don't go out the back door."

Bruce left with his middle finger raised high.

When Martin got home, he saw the lights on in the Carter's front yard and rushed over.

Elena and her three siblings were having a late-night snack in the yard.

Martin asked, "So excited?"

Elena tossed a can of beer over: "I've been waiting for you."

"wait for me?"

"Stop talking nonsense," Elena said to Harris. "Keep an eye on the house!"

He then said to Lily and Hall, "Come with me."

Martin asked, "Where to?"

Elena said, "Go get the car, we'll wait for you. You'll see when we get there."

Martin didn't waste any words and drove the car from the backyard to the front door.

The three got into the car, and Elena rolled down the passenger window: "To the church cemetery."

Martin started the car and drove in that direction, asking, "Wood?"

Elena said, "That worthless stuff, Scott the bastard wouldn't steal."

Beware of fire, theft, and your dad!

This is an area inhabited by the poor, a Methodist church cemetery, simply enclosed by a wooden fence. The poor, homeless people, and stray cats and dogs have long since riddled the wooden fence with holes.

Martin turned off his headlights early and drove over slowly. The four of them got out of the car and dismantled the wooden fence together.

Lily peered into the cemetery and whispered, "What if a female ghost comes out and steals Martin away?"

Martin pointed to a nearby pit: "Idiot, do you see that? That's a grave."

Lily turned pale with fright: "A female ghost has appeared?" Her voice trembled: "Hey, can you hear me? Take Martin away, don't take us..."

Martin said menacingly, "If you don't shut your filthy mouth, I'll bury you in that pit!"

Lily didn't dare to speak.

The four men dismantled and smashed most of the wooden fence in the trunk, then retreated under the cover of night.

Hall suggested carrying a coffin board back to be used as a bed board for Harris, and Martin slapped him on the back of the head.

Hall was indignant and didn't want to see that idiot Martin anymore, so he got in the car, leaned on the back seat, and looked behind the car.

In the distance, a large house very close to the cemetery suddenly flashed its lights, and Hall vaguely saw a girl running out, with people chasing after her.

Before he could see clearly, the lights went out again.

Hall scratched his head, not taking it seriously.

The poor can't even take care of themselves.
