Chapter 63
makes up a disc
Chapter 63 is put together into a disc.
The club wasn't open yet, but Bruce arrived early and saw Martin sitting alone at the bar, leisurely drinking.
Martin picked up the ledger and tossed it to Old Brooks: "Don't worry, I won't drink for free. It's all on your tab."
Bruce took the ledger and went behind the bar: "You piece of shit, have some decency!"
Martin took a sip of his drink and put on a serious face: "Buddy, if I ever become a star, I'll hire you, you piece of shit, as my cleaner."
Bruce pulled a white bottle from his pocket and placed it in front of Martin: "This is for you."
Martin looked down and saw it was a bottle of Vaseline: "What do I need it for?"
Bruce delivered the fatal blow: "You'll need this someday, whether you get ripped off by the producer or you're ripping off the producer."
Martin gave him two middle fingers.
A couple turned around from the club's lobby.
Free was dressed in tight-fitting sportswear, his body covered in lumps of flesh, and even Bruce would shrink back in his presence.
The man walked with his legs spread apart, like a giant humanoid crab whose legs couldn't be put together.
Sofia and her beloved toy Scott.
"Hey, Old Brooks," Sofia greeted at the bar. "Let's talk privately sometime. I miss you terribly."
Bruce didn't dare to reply, forced a smile, and watched Sophia go upstairs.
Scott swaggered over, pigeon-toed: "A beer, please."
Martin patted the chair next to him: "Sit down."
Scott glared at him: "You did this on purpose?"
Martin forgot to say, "Sorry." Thinking that Lily and Hall couldn't be without a guardian, he reminded them, "Let's leave once we've made enough money. Otherwise, we might not have enough for medical expenses in the end."
"I was planning to leave," Scott said, on the verge of tears.
Bruce asked, "You were completely on the defensive?"
Scott took a big gulp of beer: "I had some control, but all I saw was her muscles and all I could think about was Mike Tyson."
Martin casually remarked, "You could be Holyfield."
Scott said, "I don't bite people's ears!"
Martin remembered something and made a point of reminding him: "Harris has applied to college."
"What's the point of going to college? Getting a job early is the right path." Scott shook his head. "I know, these good-for-nothings never give me a moment's peace."
…………
In her office on the second floor, Sophia stood by the glass door, looking at Martin in the lobby on the first floor, and said, "I asked someone from the Freedom Society to inquire, and he has a close relationship with Kelly Gray."
Vincent turned his laptop around: "I specifically checked, and I also asked my friends in Los Angeles. Money laundering is common in the film and television industry."
Sofia waved her hand: "It's not just that. Your focus is too narrow on the club and money laundering itself, ignoring the most important point. The Gray family has some influence in Georgia, which will provide some protection for our underground casino business. We might even be able to get legitimate import and export licenses, putting our smuggling business on the right track."
She continued, "Don't underestimate avocados. Their market and profits are so huge that Mexican vendors are going crazy. I think it won't be long before an avocado war breaks out between Mexican vendors and plantations. If we move from the shadows to the light, perhaps..."
"Stop, stop." Vincent couldn't keep up with Sophia's train of thought. "The key question now is whether we should do it or not."
Sofia said, "I think we should make contact. This is an opportunity, and I will talk to your father."
Vincent also made up his mind: "I'll go talk to Gray Company first and see what the specifics are."
Sofia prepared to leave: "Call me when you're done talking. I'm taking my little darling to play games."
She went downstairs, passed the bar, and Scott obediently followed.
"Bruce," Sofia beckoned to Bruce again, "Come on, let's go together."
Bruce didn't dare utter a single word.
After everyone left, Martin looked at Bruce with sympathy: "Old Bruce, no need to say more, don't cry, I understand."
Bruce turned away, vowing never to speak to that jerk again.
Martin went upstairs again, feeling refreshed as he left. Being a leading man is too difficult; this time, he did all the work of an independent producer.
The production company and the investors shuttle between the two sides, using one side to seduce the other, thus forming a scheme.
Martin returned to Kelly's apartment, dragged the sleeping Kelly Gray out, gave her a severe beating, then carried her into the warm bathtub, soaked in the hot water, and told her what had happened.
Kelly Gray, of course, wouldn't get involved personally: "I'll send someone to talk to them; neither of us should be involved in the details."
Martin understood what she meant: "I was just trying to raise funds normally. Out of gratitude to my former boss, I told him about an investment opportunity. I don't know anything else." He leaned on Kelly: "I'm exhausted. Just the lead actor, and I've done so much work."
Kelly Gray reminded her, "You're still the production manager, it's your job."
Martin recalled another matter: "The Beast House's stuntmen are ready-made male dancers. I suggested bringing them in, and hinted that their salaries would be inflated through accounting. Surely my salary as the male lead can't be lower than theirs?"
Kelly felt great: "If this deal goes through, you'll be the one who does the credit, and no one will take credit for your salary."
The two took a relaxing hot bath, rinsed off, and chatted for a while afterward.
Martin pulled out the BMW car keys from his pocket, ready to return them.
Kelly waved her hand: "It's yours."
"Rich woman, are you really going to keep me as your sugar daddy?" Martin asked shamelessly, stuffing his keys into his pocket. "How much allowance do you get each week? Where's the house?"
Kelly didn't joke with him: "So many things have happened lately, and a lot of them were done together."
"I understand." Martin made a zipping motion near his mouth. "I'm always tight-lipped; I can keep secrets better than a dead man."
Kelly went to change her clothes: "Let's go, come with me to dinner."
Martin exclaimed, "The blissful life of being kept has finally begun."
For dinner, they had steak. After dinner, Kelly Gray made a phone call, and Martin took her to the company to meet Dave, the vice president of Gray's company and producer of late-night films.
Dave will handle the specifics.
After dropping Kelly off, Martin sat alone in the car for a while, remaining quiet.
He went from being a poor boy from the slums and a background artist when he first arrived to becoming the male lead in a feature film with an investment of millions of dollars in just over three months.
Martin believed that the difficulties, calculations, and struggles he encountered were necessary steps on the path to success.
It's tiring, but it's better than just lying around making money.
He started his BMW 7 and drove out of the apartment's underground parking lot. Before getting onto the highway, he received a call from Bruce.
"The main members of the South City gang are all gone. Boyette will probably be picking soap in jail for over ten years." Bruce forgot the oath he had made as soon as he turned around: "You guys can go back now. There shouldn't be any problems."
Martin said, "Thanks, Old Brooks. I'll treat you to dinner sometime."
Bruce suddenly said, "I have something to tell you: Monica broke up with me."
Martin asked in surprise, "Why?"
Bruce, that scoundrel, immediately shifted the blame to Martin: "It's all your fault. You gave me pictures of Kate Winslet, and I couldn't help but lick them. I let her see them several times in a row, and she called me tonight, saying I'm a pervert."
Martin deliberately rubbed salt into the wound: "You've always been a pervert."
The other end of the line immediately hung up.
It will be available for purchase on April 1st. There will be a first-order lottery upon release. I will post a separate chapter to explain the details after the release.
