Chapter 53

Cola Lucky Star

Chapter 53 Cola Lucky Star

As the sun rose and the temperature gradually increased, the actors in the makeshift dressing area waited anxiously for a long time.

Ward looked towards the studio: "Can she handle it?"

Adam Smith unbuttoned two buttons on his shirt and said, "She's an ambitious person."

Someone nearby shouted, "The iced cola is here!"

Big Head, who delivers drinks every day, pushes his cart over and places a brand-new can of Coke on the table.

The extras all went to get Cokes.

Ward brought over two cans, gave one to Adam Smith, opened it, and took a big gulp—it was incredibly refreshing.

Big Head reminded, "Don't litter. Put the empty cans back where they belong."

The extras were used to it; this guy always took away all the bottles and jars.

After finishing your Coke, put the can back.

Robert, wearing gloves, put it into the net bag.

Ward and Adam Smith walked over, casually put down the jar, and left.

Robert first collected the other cans, then took out a new net bag and carefully put the two away.

He pushed the cart back and turned to the back of another car.

Bruce, leaning against the car, asked, "Did you get it?"

Robert handed him two soda cans: "What exactly do you want to do?"

Bruce said, "Don't worry, I'm a civilized man."

Robert nodded: "Don't drag me into this."

Bruce pointed to a makeup trailer: "Martin's getting ready to go into the studio, go ahead." He encouraged Robert: "Don't worry, I'll cover you. There are dozens of guys outside the set, I can call them and they'll come right in."

Robert went to the food truck, brought over some new Coke, grabbed an empty can, and followed Martin into the studio from a distance.

…………

Filming has begun. Martin had his last scene today, so he left the rest area and went to the set.

On the small round table next to his chair was an empty soda can.

Just like the previous days, Rosa enthusiastically helped Martin pack up his useless things, took the cans, and headed towards the edge of the film set.

Robert, carrying a net bag and wearing gloves, was cleaning up trash at the rest area. He took out his phone and dialed a number with one click, then hung up after the phone rang.

The filming went smoothly, and Martin returned to his rest area after only a few minutes.

Robert came up behind him and said softly, "She took it."

Martin asked curiously, "Whose is that?"

Robert said, "Some extra."

Martin then asked, "She didn't do anything else?"

"No," Robert said, still staring intently. "They only took the cans."

Martin exclaimed, "Dude, you're my Coke lucky star!"

Robert muttered, "When I'm with you, you're the lucky one, and I'm the one who's unlucky."

Martin laughed: "Don't worry, no one can be unlucky forever."

Meanwhile, Rosa left the studio and met Adam Smith, handing him a can in a paper bag: "Don't forget your promise."

"Wait for good news." Adam Smith quickly left and met Ward in a secluded spot.

The latter put on gloves, carefully opened the top of the can, and stuffed the plastic bag inside: "All the good stuff we brought is for him!"

Adam Smith laughed: "Caught red-handed, and with his biological samples on the packaging, I can imagine what will happen to him."

Ward finished packing and headed towards the parking lot.

Adam Smith deliberately kept a considerable distance from him, looking around as he walked.

From inside a car in the parking lot, Bruce saw everything and frowned: "That piece of shit Martin, how can he be a civilized person after entering this industry?"

He realized something was wrong: "Stinky dog poop is a perfect match for this rotten industry!"

Not long after, the two people came out of the parking lot and returned to the film set to work.

Bruce circled the parking lot to make sure no one was watching, then quickly entered the parking lot. At the same time, he took out his phone and called Robert and Andrew respectively, and asked the latter about Adam Smith's car.

The rest was simple for someone who had worked as a street cleaner.

…………

After finishing his work for the day, Martin got out of the makeup trailer and headed towards the parking lot.

He dialed Bruce's number again: "Bruce, how's the situation?"

Bruce, who had been keeping an eye on the parking lot to prevent any accidents, said, "No problem."

Martin said, "I am a civilized man, a good citizen of Atlanta, and a recipient of the Freedom Society's Special Certificate of Honor. I will not allow evil to happen before my eyes. Old Brooks, you must report them! We are sworn enemies of evil!"

Bruce wanted to give the middle finger, but the man wasn't there: "I've already reported it. Provide accurate leads immediately." He glanced at the tag and small camera Robert had brought and asked, "Why did you make me dress up as a reporter?"

Martin replied, "I don't trust sons of bitches."

Bruce asked, "You didn't bring a gun, did you?"

Martin said, "No."

"I'll cooperate with you son of a bitch. As soon as you park your car, I'll be there in a heartbeat." Bruce spoke the truth: "You're not Black, and you're not Mexican. Unless you do something outrageous, you son of a bitch won't use a gun."

Martin got into the Ford: "If I were a damn black man, I would never do this."

Bruce said, "They've caught up with you."

The Ford drove out of the parking lot, followed by a black Mercedes SUV.

Inside the car, Ward had just finished a phone call: "I called 911. A huge tank of cargo. This is a big deal. The local police will definitely come. They can find a hundred legitimate reasons to deal with people who have no money or power."

Adam Smith asked, "One incident could be enough to ruin him."

Ward nodded: "The Freedom Society would absolutely not want to get involved in this mess."

Bruce followed behind the Mercedes SUV, pulled out a number from his contacts, and dialed: "Lynch, the lead I told you about before has been confirmed."

"I've applied for an emergency search warrant. If I don't have one, I'll kill you."

"I won't die even if you die." Bruce said briefly, "The two idiots are carrying a lot of cargo, it looks like some kind of new stuff, they're probably not DEA informants."

Lynch didn't dwell on the so-called "DEA informant," and asked, "You won't harm me?"

Bruce said, "Back then, we went up against the British together, and I took all the blame."

Lynch asked, "Where?"

Bruce answered and hung up the phone.

The three vehicles were mixed in with the traffic and headed northwest. Not long after, an APD patrol car with its lights flashing came up from behind and signaled to the Ford to stop.

Martin cooperated immediately and pulled over to the side of the road.

At the same time, Bruce stepped on the gas, overtook the Mercedes SUV, stopped behind the patrol car, turned on the camera, got out of the car, and ran forward.

Two APDs got out of the patrol car. One of them touched the back of the Ford, put his hand on the side of his holster, and, using dangerous driving as an excuse, loudly demanded that Martin get out of the car for inspection.

Martin complied with the APD's instructions completely, raising his hands as he got out of the car.

One APD checked and confirmed Martin was unarmed, while another spotted Bruce, pointed at him, and shouted, "What are you doing?"

Bruce picked up the tag on his shirt: "Reporter, I have the right to take pictures!"

It's not unusual for reporters to follow APDs and take pictures, but the two APDs were somewhat restrained, after all, the car owner wasn't a black man.

One of them restrained Martin while the other searched the car.

The Mercedes SUV was parked behind Bruce's car, which Ward and Adam Smith could see clearly.

Adam Smith showed little joy, saying casually, "It's a very simple matter, easily handled."

"Can he afford the hefty bail?" Ward asked.

Adam Smith pointed: "See? There are reporters. It'll be on the news soon. Gray Corporation won't risk using him."

Ward asked curiously, "The reporters appeared so quickly, who called them?"

Adam Smith also found it strange.

Just then, three black Chevrolet SUVs came from the opposite direction on the road. The three vehicles turned almost simultaneously, blocking the Mercedes SUV from the front, rear, and sides.

The Chevrolet's door opened, and burly men in DEA uniforms quickly got out, their shotguns and automatic rifles all pointed at Ward and Adam Smith inside the car.

"DEA! Let me see your hands!"

With a dozen or so dark gun barrels pointed at them, Ward and Adam Smith didn't dare to move.

The DEA presented a search warrant and acted swiftly and brutally, opening the car door and forcibly dragging the two people out of the vehicle.

Adam Smith sensed there must be some misunderstanding and quickly explained, "You've got it wrong, haven't you? We're not..."

Before he could finish speaking, a burly man turned his shotgun around and slammed the butt of the gun into his shoulder.

Adam Smith fell to the ground with a thud, and before he could get up, the burly man's knee was on top of him.

Ward put his hands behind his head and obediently squatted down.

The burly man acted without hesitation because his colleague who was searching the car gave him a thumbs up.

DEA found what I wanted.

Justice will be served, and evil will be punished.
