Chapter 54
For the Male Lead
Chapter 54 For the Male Lead
Chaos broke out in the back. Bruce saw that Martin was alright and immediately ran to the back. The camera focused on Ward and Adam Smith, who were handcuffed.
Lin Qi glanced at it and thought to himself, "How did this piece of trash become a reporter?"
While on duty, he couldn't ask too many questions. He carefully opened the aluminum cans he had found, placed the contents inside in the vehicle, and the entire process was recorded by the body camera.
Lynch had his subordinates lift up Ward and Adam Smith's faces to make sure they weren't their "informants."
Adam Smith saw the can, his face filled with astonishment, and cried out in pain, "This isn't ours! No! You've got the wrong one!"
Ward also stated, "It's definitely not ours!"
The two couldn't help but exchange a glance. How come something that should have been in Martin's car was in their own?
A DEA agent shone a UV light on the can: "There are fingerprints on it, easy to confirm."
Lin Qi waved his hand: "Take him away!"
Bruce, quick-witted, shouted, "Agent, what happened?"
Lin Qi really wanted to give him the middle finger, but out of consideration for their past relationship, he replied, "Trafficker, caught red-handed."
Bruce aimed his camera at Ward and Adam Smith, and although his technique was somewhat clumsy, he managed to capture their appearances perfectly.
On the other side, the two APDs found nothing and had no choice but to let Martin go.
Martin said a few polite words about reserving the right to file a complaint and pursue legal action, then got into his car and left.
Half an hour later, Martin and Bruce met in a parking lot.
Bruce handed the camera to Martin, who took it and glanced at the footage: "I'll call you later."
Just as he was about to leave, he suddenly remembered something, pulled out an autographed photo of Kate Winslet, and handed it to Bruce: "Old Bruce, I owe you a shit debt."
Bruce took the photo, his face beaming with joy. He planted a big kiss on a spot in the photo and said, "This is the first time I've seen you so actively paying off your debts."
When Martin saw him sticking out his tongue, not wanting to embarrass himself, he quickly got into the car, called Elena, and went to her friend's place who could copy the video to cut out the first part of the video Old Brooks had filmed.
The small camera was to be returned to Andrew, and the video was copied to a USB drive.
Acts of justice must be spread.
Was Shit-da-ke also framed back then?
Martin found a suitable TV station from the media contact information Bruce had collected last time. He used a public phone to say he had an important news lead, found his old-fashioned glasses, put them on, and also put on a wig and a fake beard.
Not far from the television station, Nina, a middle-aged deputy editor-in-chief of a news program, met him.
Nina plugged in the USB drive and saw it was a DEA video of the arrest. She said, "I'll take this one. Go collect your $100."
Martin pointed at the screen: "It's definitely more than a hundred! Look, the amount of seized goods is huge, and the DEA deployed more than a dozen agents. It's a major operation. Based on this, follow the DEA closely and you can produce a series of reports."
Nina shook her head: "There are too many in Atlanta."
Martin then pointed at Adam Smith: "Look at this guy again, does he look familiar?"
Nina looked closely: "He looks familiar. I remember now, he's Adam Smith."
"Yes!" Martin snapped his fingers. "He's a star in Atlanta."
He lavishly praised Adam Smith: "He has at least a hundred thousand fans in Georgia, and hundreds of thousands, maybe even more, of female viewers who know him. He's a real star! This is big news!"
As far as Nina knows, Adam Smith is quite famous among women who enjoy watching late-night shows.
Martin continued to boast: "He frequents high-class women's clubs and is very popular. Could he be connected to these women? You can dig up a lot of news about him."
Nina considered it carefully for a moment: "Name your price."
Martin said, "A big star scandal is worth $3000!"
Nina said, "$500!"
After some haggling, the two eventually sold it for $1200.
Martin left the TV station with two $600 checks in his hand.
Tonight's news will feature a segment about Adam Smith.
Martin called Robert and Bruce separately and invited them to dinner.
At the restaurant and booth last time, Robert came over first and sat opposite Martin: "I said I'd treat you to dinner, but I just haven't found the time."
Martin pretended not to hear and pulled out a check for him: "Your luck has been on my side, this is my reward."
Robert glanced at the number, grabbed it, and stuffed it into his pocket: "Don't say you're joking with me, I'm definitely not giving it back to you."
Martin said, "I can't let you help me for free."
Bruce arrived at that moment, and Martin told them to order first.
When the food arrived, he handed Bruce another check: "Scavenger fee."
Bruce didn't move: "You've already paid me."
Martin said, "It's just a photograph."
Bruce suddenly stuck out his tongue and licked his lips.
Martin quickly stopped him from continuing: "Civilized man, you don't need to say it, I understand."
He couldn't possibly offer Bruce a photo as payment: "I don't know where you got the DEA to uphold justice, but you have to buy them a drink. I can't expect you to pay for it; you need your money to buy lubricant."
"Shut up!" Bruce grabbed the check and put it away. "You're always the stinkiest piece of shit."
The three of them ate their dinner at a leisurely pace.
Bruce asked curiously, "Why is that idiot targeting you?"
Martin had some suspicions and had Andrew inquire about it indirectly: "Benjamin, the director of Gray Company, wrote a script in which the male lead draws on my words and experiences. The script is currently being held back by Kelly, but once it is approved, the investment will exceed one million, and it may even be released in theaters."
Bruce understood: "He sees you as a competitor, so he's trying to get rid of you beforehand?" He shook his head: "This lousy industry isn't much better than mine."
Martin didn't care: "For trash like us, which circle isn't rotten? To climb up, you not only have to pull down the people above you, but also step on the people below you."
He briefly mentioned, "I sent the video you filmed to the TV station, and it will be on the news tonight. Adam Smith is somewhat famous in Atlanta."
Bruce said, "You still got rid of him."
"I get it!" Robert belatedly realized: "You got rid of Adam Smith. You were the first choice when they were casting the male lead for that movie."
Martin's voice was firm and resolute: "Buddy, this is the duty of the citizens of Atlanta. I have a heart that upholds justice. I am fighting against evil. I am irreconcilably opposed to gambling and drugs!"
Robert shook his big head and said, "No wonder I can't get any significant roles. It's damn hard to be a leading man. You can't be shameless!"
Bruce said, "Because his head is full of stinky dog shit."
After dinner, Martin called Barkley and gave him another copy of the video.
Considering their past cooperation, he didn't ask for money this time.
The evening news reported on the video of Adam Smith being detained by the DEA.
The Atlanta Star News followed the story for several days and received confirmation from the DEA that Adam Smith had been arrested after being found guilty of incriminating evidence.
The DEA searched Adam Smith's home and uncovered a large amount of incriminating evidence.
Adam Smith is temporarily unable to be released on bail due to a series of subsequent procedures and cases.
Meanwhile, DEA quietly confirmed that the goods had nothing to do with DEA, nor with the CIA or similar organizations.
For the sake of America, these uncontrolled smuggled goods and distribution channels must, of course, be eliminated.
