Chapter 128
A Misunderstanding, X-Men Reunited
Chapter 128 A Misunderstanding, X-Men Reunited
The dimly lit bottom of the ship's hold was filled with all sorts of boxes. The cargo ship was rocking back and forth, and the sound of waves crashing against the hull could be heard constantly. The air was filled with the salty smell of the sea.
The ship was arranged by Hansto's friend and can take you directly from a port in Canada to Hilo, Hawaii.
This is where Hans and his team's signal tracker stopped.
However, due to their highly sensitive identities and the Hans brothers' overly conspicuous appearance, the smugglers could only place them in an unmanned cargo hold.
However, it was obvious that this smuggler was a regular at running the smuggling business. There were plenty of seats in the cargo hold for them to rest, and when they were checked by the coast guard, the smuggler handled them with ease, persuading them to leave with just a few words. The hatch remained untouched, and the group was very safe in the cargo hold, undisturbed.
After a bumpy ride, the cargo ship finally entered the port of Hawaii, but they were unable to leave for the time being.
After all, there were still many crew members on the cargo ship who needed to leave port, and they couldn't show their faces in front of so many people.
After waiting for nearly an hour, the smuggler opened the cargo hold door, clapped his hands, and said, "Safe, let's go!"
Logan and his group were then able to leave the warehouse safely, proceeding cautiously to avoid contact with pedestrians as they entered the port.
After sending everyone off the ship, the smuggler returned to the ship, clearly not wanting to have much contact with them.
After all, these people are mutants, and getting too close to them could easily lead to unnecessary conflicts.
Having hosted so many illegal immigrants, the smugglers had long understood the importance of not meddling in other people's business.
Logan and the others stopped wasting time and began to think of a way to leave the port.
"Be careful, there are patrols in these ports."
Logan walked ahead, whispering instructions to the people behind him.
This place is a cargo port, filled with cargo ships. The port is piled with all kinds of containers, but fortunately there are not many passengers. Most crew members leave after disembarking and do not stay in the port for long.
It was also the break time, and the port workers were taking their lunch break. The port was quiet, with hardly anyone around except for some patrol teams.
Logan, who was carefully moving between the containers, suddenly stopped. He heard footsteps approaching from ahead.
He quickly leaned against a shipping container and cautiously peeked outside.
A six-person patrol team was seen walking between the shipping containers, batons in hand, their eyes constantly scanning the surroundings.
"Patrol team."
Seeing this, Logan quickly pulled his head back, pointed outside, and signaled everyone to be quiet.
Then he glanced around and pointed to the other side of the container, signaling them to hide quickly.
The group nodded in understanding and cautiously walked toward the side of the container.
boom!
Suddenly, a crashing sound rang out.
Everyone was startled and turned to look, only to find it was Marcos.
He tripped and fell, his head hitting the shipping container hard. The metal container made a loud bang upon impact.
"who!"
The commotion immediately attracted the attention of the patrol team.
Everyone instantly drew their sidearms and cautiously approached Logan and his group.
"Come out now, don't even think about hiding!"
The patrol leader kept shouting, his pistol already cocked.
This port is frequently frequented by illegal immigrants, some of whom are even carrying weapons, so they have to be careful.
"If you don't come out, we'll shoot."
The patrol's footsteps grew closer, and the group crouched behind the shipping container, their expressions becoming increasingly tense.
Lorna, Marcos, and the others frowned and subconsciously swallowed.
Logan, who was at the very front, had already quietly clenched his fist, and a small, sharp point of his steel claw was visible through the gap between his knuckles.
Just as he was hesitating whether to make a move, he was gently tugged at from behind.
He turned around and saw Clarice pointing to a portal in front of them, gesturing for everyone to go in.
Seeing this, Logan's eyes lit up with surprise, and he quickly called everyone to go into the teleportation portal.
When they reappeared, the group was already in an abandoned park a few hundred meters away.
As the portal closed, Logan could faintly hear the sounds of the patrols.
"Huh, why is nobody here?"
"Hey, it's probably just a seagull that accidentally bumped into the container, it's nothing..."
Hearing these sounds, Logan couldn't help but breathe a sigh of relief, turned to look at Clarice, and smiled, "Not bad, it seems you've made quite a bit of progress during this time."
Bringing Clarice along this time was a really good choice. Otherwise, if a fight had broken out with the patrol team just now, and any one of them had fired a single shot, the port guards could have sealed off the port and alerted the authorities in the shortest amount of time, which would have wasted too much time.
They are saving lives right now, and they don't have much time to waste.
Hearing the praise, Clarice couldn't help but smile and proudly said, "Uncle Wolf, I knew it would be right to bring me along."
Logan smiled and ruffled the girl's hair.
The three Hans brothers stared blankly at the port, which was vaguely visible a few hundred meters away. Looking at Clarice, they couldn't help but marvel at the wonder of this ability.
Logan then snapped out of his reverie and surveyed the park.
Because this area is located in the suburbs, and it is currently noon, there is practically no one around, and even the number of cars on the road is pitifully small.
The park also has some recreational facilities such as mushroom houses.
After thinking for a moment, Logan pointed to a larger mushroom house. "Hans, you guys hide there for a bit."
The three Hans brothers were so large that their size would be news if they were exposed anywhere, so Logan dared not let them appear in public easily.
After saying that, he turned to Marcos and said, "Marcus, go with me to a car rental shop."
In broad daylight, their targets are too conspicuous, so they need a vehicle to get around.
Marcus nodded and followed Logan to the car dealership.
Logan rented a small van from a nearby car dealership.
After all, the Hans brothers are so big that even an off-road vehicle would be difficult to fit them in; a truck is the best option.
Back in the park, after picking up Hans and the others, Logan followed the map and headed to the western part of Hilo.
"It's just ahead."
After entering the western district, Hans, who was in the back of the car, pointed to a residential area not far ahead through the small window connected to the driver's seat and said, "That's where the tracking device appeared."
"this?"
Logan, driving the car, looked at the residential area with a surprised expression.
This place looks like a very ordinary residential area. There are various small houses on both sides of the road, and although there are few pedestrians, they are all normal people.
Which robber was out of their mind to kidnap someone here?
"Could there be a mistake?"
Marcos, sitting in the passenger seat, frowned as he looked at the residential area. He couldn't see any connection to the kidnapping. Each house had children's toys in its yard and various flowers and plants, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.
Faced with the doubts, Hans answered confidently, "I'm sure it's here."
He then continued, "The tracker's signal disappeared here. Before it disappeared, the signal showed that they stayed here for a while and made some minor movements, which means that the tracker was not discovered or discarded and was still with them."
Since his father was arrested, he has been constantly monitoring the status of the tracking device.
Moreover, he was very confident in his tracker and believed it wouldn't make any mistakes!
"Take out the locator and let me see it. Let's see where your father is."
Clarice looked up and gazed at Hans with curiosity.
After all, if you only know the general location, it will be too difficult to find.
There are so many houses here, they can't possibly search them one by one.
Upon hearing this, Hans shook his head helplessly, "The tracker has run out of power and is no longer working."
The location tracker was made very small to make it easy to hide, and the battery capacity was very limited, so it would fail after a few hours. Now it's out of power and can't be displayed at all.
After a pause, Hans added, "Even with electricity, it wouldn't be useful; its positioning is only for a broad area and cannot be particularly precise."
Upon hearing this, everyone was momentarily at a loss.
Without a precise location, finding someone in such a large residential area is really inconvenient.
At that moment, Lorna suddenly looked up and asked, "Do you remember what those people who captured your father looked like?"
"certainly."
Hans nodded, saying firmly, "I witnessed them taking my father away with my own eyes, I certainly won't forget it."
Hearing this, Lorna nodded. "That makes things easier. We'll park the car at the community entrance and wait there; we might run into them."
It's unlikely that Hank will actually be kidnapped, but those who kidnapped him will definitely be going out to buy some necessities like food.
As long as they are still inside, there's no need to worry about them not showing up.
Upon hearing this, Hans frowned and hesitated for a moment.
At this moment, Colin behind him spoke up anxiously, "What if they don't show up for several days? I'm worried they might harm my father."
Since it's a kidnapping after all, who knows if those guys will hurt their father?
"But there's not much else we can do right now."
Logan shook his head helplessly. "We can't just go door to door looking for people, that would be too conspicuous."
Marcos nodded. "And you don't need to worry too much. If they wanted to kill your father, they probably would have done it already. Why would they bring him all the way to Hawaii? I guess your father is safe for now."
Hearing this, the three Hans brothers were still anxious, but they also realized that there was really no other good way to deal with the situation except to wait and wait.
After a sigh, the three nodded in agreement with the idea.
Logan drove his car to the entrance of the community and waited quietly there.
Since only Hans and his two brothers had seen what the thugs looked like, the main task of holding the line was assigned to them, while Logan and the others could only stand guard in the car, bored out of their minds.
In order to rescue their father, Hans and his two companions were very focused, keeping their eyes fixed on the entrance and scanning everyone who came in and out.
And they kept watch until evening.
At this moment, Marcos and the others in the car were all drowsy from boredom, and Clarice had already closed her eyes and fallen asleep completely.
Suddenly, Hans became agitated, staring at a man walking into the community. He gently patted the carriage, exclaiming, "That's him! That's the guy! He's the one who kidnapped our father!"
Upon hearing this, everyone was suddenly jolted awake.
Logan perked up and looked in the direction Hans was pointing.
He was a white-bearded man wearing a jacket. He must have drunk a lot, because he walked unsteadily, like a drunkard.
"Quickly, go down and tie that guy up, and find out where Father is."
Hans spoke excitedly, and at the same time, he called his two brothers to get out of the car and kidnap the man.
"Wait, don't be impulsive!"
Logan quickly stopped them, pointing to several people walking their dogs in the neighborhood, "There are people over there, tying someone up is too conspicuous."
If Hans and his gang get out of the car and kidnap someone, they'll definitely be discovered and the police will be called. When the police arrive, things will get really messy.
Moreover, it would easily alert the bearded man's accomplices, and if they realized something was wrong and moved Hank, they would really have no way to find him.
"So what do we do now?"
Hans frowned, looking anxiously at the bearded man who walked into the community.
Logan pondered for a moment, staring at the bearded man's retreating figure, and said, "Clarice, you and I will follow that guy. You two wait in the car. If a fight breaks out, I'll have Clarice teleport you there."
When Clarice heard that Logan would personally lead her on the mission, the drowsiness on her face instantly vanished, and she nodded eagerly.
Upon hearing this, Hans and his team could only frown, nod, and agree to the plan.
After Logan finished speaking, he got out of the car with Clarice.
Clarice's teleportation ability is absolutely amazing, whether it's helping them escape or getting Lorna and the others to come to their aid.
As long as you have her with you, you can basically say that you have Lorna and the others with you all the time.
After getting out of the car, the two walked into the community like a father and daughter taking a stroll, their eyes intentionally or unintentionally glancing at the white-bearded man by the pencil, while always keeping a certain distance from him.
The bearded man had clearly drunk quite a bit; he was swaying as he walked, completely unaware that someone was following him.
He walked all the way to a very luxurious two-story building, which looked like a place of great wealth and status.
The bearded man fumbled for his keys in his pocket, opened the door, and went inside. He didn't open the door to the lobby, but went straight up to a room on the second floor. The light in the room turned on briefly and then quickly went out, presumably because the person was asleep.
Logan and Clarice stood outside the building, observing it. After confirming that all the lights in the rooms were off, they exchanged a glance and walked to the door.
Logan tried to turn the handle but found he couldn't open it from the outside. Clarice then placed her hand on the door, and the next moment, a portal appeared.
The two stepped into the portal and entered the house.
The two carefully searched the house, thoroughly examining the first-floor hall and even the storage room, but found nothing.
"No, none of them."
Clarice came out of the kitchen, shook her head, and whispered to Logan.
Logan sighed helplessly, looked at the stairs leading to the second floor, and said in a low voice, "Looks like we'll have to wake that guy up and interrogate him."
After saying that, Logan Clarice carefully went upstairs, recalling the room where the bearded man had turned on the light after entering.
Logan pressed his ear against the door and heard clear snoring coming from inside. Confirming that the guy was asleep, he carefully turned the doorknob and pushed the door open. There was a slight hissing sound, but thankfully it didn't wake the bearded man.
After glancing cautiously outside, Logan lowered his pace and led Clarice inside.
Just as Logan was about to wake the bearded man for interrogation...
Snapped!
The room lights suddenly turned on.
"Who are you people?!"
A loud shout suddenly came from behind.
Logan was startled and turned around sharply. He saw a man standing in the doorway behind him, holding a shotgun. With a click, the shotgun was loaded and aimed at Logan and Clarice.
"Hey, calm down."
Logan raised his hands to indicate that he was unarmed, and took a small step forward to block Clarice's path.
The sudden shout startled the white-bearded man awake. He mumbled in his sleep, "What's all the noise about?"
However, upon opening his eyes and seeing two strangers in front of him, he was instantly jolted awake, the effects of the alcohol vanishing in an instant, and he immediately sobered up. "Fuck!"
He quickly pulled a pistol from the bedside table, pointed it at Logan, and demanded, "Who are you people?!"
"Don't be impulsive, everyone calm down!"
Logan frowned as he looked at the enemy's predicament, which was being attacked from both sides.
He wasn't worried about himself, but he was mainly concerned about Clarice behind him; that little girl couldn't withstand a single bullet.
boom!
However, no sooner had he finished speaking than the man at the door fired a bullet without hesitation.
The shotgun spewed flames, and countless steel pellets shot out, all hitting Logan's chest. His clothes were instantly riddled with more than a dozen bullet holes, and blood seeped out.
"Oh shit!"
The physical pain made Logan curse under his breath. The next moment, his muscles twitched, and the dense steel rods were squeezed out by his muscles, and the wound healed instantly.
"What?!"
The man stared wide-eyed at the fallen steel pillar and the wound that had stopped bleeding instantly, his face filled with disbelief.
Logan gave him no time to react, charging forward with lightning speed, almost like a gust of wind. In the blink of an eye, he was in front of the man, dodging the shotgun in the man's hand and snapping it in two with a forceful pull.
The man was completely stunned by Logan's speed, strength, and incredible healing abilities.
The bearded man on the bed was also taken aback, but he quickly reacted, looked at Clarice and pounced on her, intending to use her to blackmail Logan.
Clarice looked at the bearded man reeking of alcohol, clearly flustered, but still reacted quickly and opened a portal in front of him.
The man didn't have time to stop; he slipped into the portal and reappeared on the ceiling, where he fell heavily to the ground.
"Ouch!"
The bearded man cried out in pain, and the pistol in his hand fell to the ground.
Clarice kicked the pistol away and looked warily at the bearded man.
Seeing this, Logan stopped talking and grabbed the man by the door, throwing him next to the bearded man.
The force caused the man to slam into a cabinet in the room, where he lay on the floor groaning in pain.
"Are you mutants?"
The bearded man sat up from the ground, looked at Logan and Clarice, and questioned them through gritted teeth.
"Yes."
Logan stopped hiding, revealing his steel claws in a flash. He crouched down, pressed the claws against the bearded man's chest, and stared into his eyes, demanding, "Where did you take Beast Hank?"
"Hank?"
The bearded man was visibly startled when he heard the name, as if he had thought of something.
"right."
Logan demanded in a low voice, "Hank's kids say you kidnapped him, where is he now?!"
"Logan, what brings you here?"
At that moment, another voice came from behind, but this voice was not malicious; instead, it was full of astonishment.
Logan was startled and turned around to see a tall figure standing at the door of the room, familiar yet somewhat unfamiliar.
"Hank?"
Logan was somewhat stunned as he stared at the figure.
Hank, standing at the door, had a similar physique to Hans and the others, with blue skin, but he looked much older. He wore thick reading glasses, his hair was gray, he was dressed in a proper set of pajamas, and he held a long spear in his hand.
But upon seeing Logan, he lowered his gun, his face filled with astonishment.
"Hank, are you alright?"
Logan got up and walked up to Hank, looking him up and down with a surprised expression.
He immediately looked at the two men behind him, his mind blank. "Wait, what's going on? What happened?"
The kidnappers won't provide weapons or pajamas to their victims.
Moreover, Hank shows absolutely no sign of being threatened.
So that means Hank wasn't kidnapped at all?!
