: The Rescue – Wolverine Arrives!

Chapter 39: The Rescue – Wolverine Arrives!

"Donald, let them go!"

Logan clearly heard Gabriela's plea for help, his eyes instantly filled with rage, and he gripped his phone tightly.

"Logan, take my advice and stop meddling in other people's business. I'm already very unhappy with your disobedience, so don't provoke me any further."

Donald coldly left a message and then hung up the phone.

Hearing the dial tone from his phone, Logan slammed his fist on the steering wheel, then quickly started the car and sped off toward the address Gabriela had given him.

During the journey, he dialed the number of the Caliban.

"Hey, Caliban, there's a new situation. I don't have time to explain. Take the professor and wait for me at the border of Santa Fe City, quick!"

Caliban on the other end of the phone sounded visibly worried. "Chris discovered our escape plan?"

"No, it's Donald."

Logan explained in a deep voice, "That guy is even more troublesome than the Lawrence family. Before he targets us, you and the professor should get out of here quickly, otherwise we won't be able to escape once he has a chance!"

"I understand." Caliban sensed the urgency in Logan's tone and quickly said, "The professor and I will set off immediately."

"Okay." Logan nodded. "Wait for me at the border for two hours. If I don't come back in two hours, don't hesitate to take the professor to Victor on the Weeks Street in Nevada. He can provide you with shelter."

"Saber-toothed tiger?"

Caliban was slightly taken aback, but quickly replied, "I'll remember that. The border awaits you; you'd better be careful."

"Yes, I will."

After saying that, Logan hung up the phone, looked at the road ahead with a cold expression, gritted his teeth, stepped on the gas, and sped towards Gabriela's address.

Meanwhile, in the hotel.

Donald sat on the sofa in the room, looking at Gabriela across from him.

The poor Mexican woman was handcuffed behind her back and sat in a chair, her hair disheveled, her face covered in bruises, and blood trickling from the corner of her mouth. She forced herself to stare weakly at Donald through gritted teeth.

Donald sat on the sofa, looking at her, toying with a short knife in his hand, and demanded, "Where's the little girl?"

When they found Gabriela's address, they rushed over immediately. Unfortunately, they only found Gabriela at the hotel, while Laura was nowhere to be found.

However, Donald was certain that Gabriela and Laura had always lived together, and the room was filled with traces of their life together.

Gabriela stared intently at Donald, biting her lip and refusing to utter a sound.

Donald sneered at her stubbornness. "Still stubborn? No one can save you until you tell me where X-23 is. Don't worry, I won't let you die so easily. You've worked in our lab and know a lot about our experiments. I believe you don't want to experience being used as a guinea pig."

Upon hearing the word "laboratory," Gabriela's eyes flashed with fear, but he gritted his teeth and said, "Go to hell, God will never forgive you!"

Donald, growing impatient, said, "You think we can't do anything if we don't tell you? I'm not giving up on that girl. The higher-ups have always valued her highly. Besides, without your help, how far could she go?"

He paused, then suddenly scoffed, "You're not hoping to rely on Wolverine, are you? Gabriella, be rational. Logan is a damned old wolf right now, and he's barely able to protect himself. What makes you think he'd go against you for your sake?"

Upon hearing this, Gabriela frowned, revealing a sorrowful expression.

She knew in her heart that Donald was probably telling the truth, but even so she remained silent.

"Sigh~"

Donald slowly stood up and walked to Gabriela. "You've really disappointed me."

As soon as he finished speaking, he suddenly raised his hand and slapped Gabriela hard across the face.

Snapped!

The piercing sound echoed in the room. The blow almost knocked Gabriela unconscious, and one of his teeth was broken off and flew out of his mouth.

Donald didn't stop. He kicked Gabriela hard in the stomach again, the force sending her flying and the chair behind her shattering.

The pain in her abdomen caused Gabriela to curl up on the ground, spitting out mouthfuls of blood, and the physical pain caused tears to stream down her face.

She gritted her teeth and sneered, "You'd better kill me, then no one will know where Laura is."

boom!

"what!"

Just as Donald was about to take further action, a scream from outside the house instantly jolted him awake, and he immediately turned around and rushed out of the room.

The room is on the first floor, and outside is the hotel's own courtyard.

At this moment, petite Laura stood in the yard, with a gunman lying at her feet, blood spurting from his chest.

Several gunmen nearby cautiously surrounded them.

"Lola, what are you doing back here? Run!"

Gabriela, who was inside the house, panicked when he realized it was Laura.

"It seems she'll miss you."

When Donald saw Laura, a smile returned to his face. "Lola, come back with me obediently, and nothing will happen here. Otherwise..."

However, before he could finish speaking, Laura extended her sharp claws and pounced at him.

Donald reacted quickly, dodging backward. The girl missed her target and her steel claws stuck in the ground, instantly tearing through the hard concrete and leaving four clear claw marks.

The two gunmen beside her reacted quickly and stepped forward to restrain Laura. Laura was struggling against the two adults.

Just as she was about to resist, the gunman beside her took out a pre-prepared anesthetic and stabbed it hard into the girl's neck.

The girl's expression suddenly became dazed, her body gradually lost strength, and she stared wide-eyed at Donald.

"Disobedient children will not receive rewards."

Donald breathed a sigh of relief; the anesthetic would only leave her exhausted, not cause her to fall into a coma.

At this moment, Laura's eyes were filled with resentment, and her clear eyes were filled with murderous intent, but she couldn't muster any strength at all. Even though the enemy was close by, she couldn't do anything.

"Take it back!"

Donald gave the order with a cold expression.

"What about Gabriela?"

One of the gunmen glanced at Gabriela inside the house.

At this moment, Gabriela's eyes were red-rimmed, filled with resentment towards Donald and heartache for Laura.

"Find a place and bury him."

Donald glanced at it coldly and said.

Hearing this, Laura bit her red lips and struggled desperately, but her powerless limbs could only watch helplessly as the gunman walked toward Gabriela.

"Donald, God will never forgive you!"

Gabriela stared at the dark muzzle of the gun, his breath catching in his throat.

She glanced at Laura one last time, then closed her eyes in despair. Perhaps she should have left a week earlier instead of choosing to trust Logan.

boom!

Suddenly, a black sedan roared down the road, its engine noise almost filling the entire block.

Without hesitation, the front of the car rammed into Donald. The terrifying speed made Donald's pupils shrink sharply, and he instinctively rolled over to avoid it.

boom!

The car crashed into the wall, instantly breaking through the wall and scattering bricks, with the front of the car embedded in the debris.

Click.

The car door opened, and a figure stepped out, the steel claws in his hand gleaming coldly in the blazing sun.

He stared intently at Donald, his long, dark shadow completely enveloping him.

"Donald, let them go!"
