Chapter 31
X23 Terrifying Potential
Chapter 31 X-23's Terrifying Potential
"Never heard of it."
Samuel pulled his head back, slowly shook his head, and couldn't help but look back at the rows of iron boxes behind him, then said, "But his abilities must be very strong, otherwise he wouldn't be so attractive to you."
The fact that they spent over twenty test subjects just to replicate Wolverine's abilities shows that Wolverine's value far exceeds the cost of these test subjects!
"He used to be as fierce as a wild beast."
Donald patted Logan on the shoulder and turned to give him a meaningful smile.
Logan knew that Donald was deliberately provoking him, and he was certain that Logan wouldn't get angry.
Indeed, Logan's vitals have been seized by the other party, and even with this guy's audacity, he is powerless to do anything about it now.
However, he ignored Donald and stepped forward, focusing his attention on the blueprints.
"They are blueprints from Project X."
Logan recognized the blueprint; it was a concept drawing created by the scientists when Logan was at X-Labs, and it also contained the DNA left by Wolverine, which led to the current X-23 Laura.
"James, don't worry, once we find X-23, nobody will be interested in an old guy."
Donald smiled and patted Logan on the shoulder.
These words left Josh and Samuel completely bewildered.
But Logan understood what this guy meant: Laura's potential in every aspect far surpassed Wolverine's. She was younger, had better stats, and a greater future. You could say she was a more perfect "Wolverine."
With Laura as a perfect test subject, Logan became less important, since no one wanted to care about a dying old wolf.
Of course, that's assuming we find Laura first.
"Let's go, we've got the stuff."
Donald rolled up the drawings and waved them in his hand.
This action left the group slightly stunned.
"Just this blueprint?"
Samuel looked at the blueprint, then at the boxes here. "I thought the target was these boxes."
Donald put the blueprints in his pocket and sneered, "Those are nothing but a bunch of failed experiments, they're of no use whatsoever."
"Then why did you ask the three of us? Such a simple task could have been solved by even a homeless person."
Samuel was completely bewildered, having no idea what the point of their trip accompanying Donald was.
"in case."
Donald chuckled and strode towards the door. "Let's go. Don't worry, you'll be well paid."
Samuel and Josh exchanged glances, finding the task inexplicably simple, but since their benefactor had said so, they had no objections and followed Donald's lead.
Upon arriving outside the lab, Logan and his group were about to get on their motorcycles and leave.
boom!
Suddenly, a blinding white light struck, moving so fast that its shape was impossible to discern, and its intense brilliance was too dazzling to look at directly.
"Get out of the way!"
Logan's pupils contracted sharply. He sensed a strong sense of danger in the white light and almost instinctively dodged to the side.
Peng!
The white light struck a motorcycle precisely, exploding like a rocket, the booming sound echoing throughout the grove of trees.
The four motorcycles exploded almost simultaneously, flames from the exploding fuel tanks swept outwards, and the shockwave shook the surrounding bushes, scattering leaves everywhere.
The silent jungle was instantly awakened; countless birds flew away, and wild beasts on the ground fled in panic, making a series of scurrying noises.
"Damn it, I should have realized that high-paying missions are never this simple."
Samuel got up from the ground, his eyes cautiously scanning his surroundings.
The moment Logan yelled for him to get out of the way, he immediately ducked to avoid the impact of the explosion.
Looking at the motorcycle, now reduced to rubble and still burning, Samuel felt a chill of fear. If they had gotten on the motorcycle earlier, they would now be nothing more than a few blown-to-smith corpses.
Fortunately, none of them were ordinary people; they immediately lay down to avoid the attack, and no one was injured.
"Be on guard!"
Logan stared intently in the direction from which the white light had come, his keen ears picking up the sound of approaching footsteps.
"They're from Hydra."
Donald drew his pistol from his waist, stared intently into the depths of the jungle, and said in a deep voice, "We're not the only ones researching mutants; those lunatics are interested in the blueprints I have!"
He was quite certain of the origins of these enemies; after all, those who researched mutants and dared to attack him were most likely Hydra.
At this moment, a group of fully armed soldiers rushed out of the woods. They were well-equipped, carrying all kinds of weapons, and one of them even carried a Gatling gun. Someone was even carrying the ammunition belt for him!
These people were extremely fast and had almost blocked all escape routes.
"Retreat to the lab first!"
Logan looked at these people, and his eyes narrowed sharply.
If they were to encounter them head-on, their pistols would be no match for this well-armed group!
Donald's eyes were gloomy. Without saying another word, he ran towards the laboratory.
Samuel and Josh were also terrified and rushed back into the lab as if their lives depended on it.
After Logan finally entered the lab, he didn't forget to prop up the door that Donald had kicked over, using a table to hold it in place.
The four men peered cautiously through the crack in the doorway at the enemy outside the laboratory.
These heavily armed enemies quickly surrounded the entire laboratory.
It was clear that these guys were working together very well, pointing their weapons at all directions of the laboratory, so that no matter which way they tried to escape, they would be riddled with bullets in an instant.
"Get out here!"
A black man stepped out from the crowd. His tall stature made him stand out, and his muscular build made him look like a standing brown bear.
Moreover, he was not carrying any weapons. Apart from the bulletproof vest he was wearing, there were no firearms in sight, which made him stand out from the fully armed team.
He stared at the laboratory and shouted, his rough voice echoing through the jungle.
"This aura..."
Logan stood in the lab, tilted his head back slightly to sniff, and his expression suddenly changed. "One of them is a mutant. They must have caused the commotion just now!"
He sensed something was wrong from the attack just now. That ball of white light was neither a bullet, nor a rocket, nor a grenade, yet it could easily destroy four motorcycles. This was definitely some kind of strange method.
Now he could clearly smell the scent of his own kind wafting from outside, which further confirmed his belief that there were others of their kind outside.
"You could smell that?!"
Samuel stared in astonishment at Logan's actions and couldn't help but tilt his head back and sniff, but he couldn't smell anything except the rotten smell of the laboratory.
hum! ! !
Before they could discuss it further, the black man outside suddenly raised his hand.
A piercing buzzing sound rang out, and white light gathered in the black man's hand. The dazzling light was almost blinding, and the terrifying energy within the white light horrified everyone.
At this moment, the space itself trembled because of this terrifying energy, and ripples even appeared in the environment.
call out!
The black man swung his hand forcefully, and a white light shot out instantly, blasting towards the door.
Peng! ! !
A violent explosion erupted instantly, shaking the entire laboratory violently. The dilapidated building seemed on the verge of collapsing at any moment, with plaster peeling off and dust billowing up.
The heavy iron gate at the entrance cracked immediately, the huge door frame collapsing completely like a crumpled roll of paper.
The shockwave from the explosion kept the surrounding trees in turmoil for a long time.
