Chapter 59
The Death of Rice, A Poor Man
Chapter 59 The Death of Rice, a Poor Man
Boom!
The heat vision swept out, the crimson beams dazzlingly bright in the forest.
Dr. Rice stared intently at the two beams of light, a fear from the depths of his soul spreading through his heart.
"Damn it, crouch down!"
He roared and immediately covered his head and lay on the ground. The beam of light almost grazed his scalp, instantly scorching a clump of hair on his head.
puff!
However, the mercenaries beside him suffered the consequences. They were unable to react in time, and the beam of light slashed them in half.
The thick bulletproof steel plate on his chest was no match for the heat vision attack. In just one exchange, it was cleanly sliced open, and the mercenary's massive body was pierced through.
The burning pain in their lower backs made them want to run away, but they then realized that they had lost all feeling in their lower limbs, and their upper bodies had fallen straight down, instantly broken in two!
"Fuck!"
"Oh My God!"
"Fire! Fire now!"
Bang bang bang! !
With a single sweep, more than ten people were instantly cut in half at the waist, and the gushing blood poured down into the forest like rain.
The remaining mercenaries, witnessing this horrific scene, were completely panicked. Driven by their fear, they instinctively raised their guns and fired, the dense gunfire echoing fiercely through the deep forest.
The bullets rained down on Logan, tearing his clothes apart instantly. Gunshot holes exploded across his body, spraying blood everywhere.
The intense stinging pain caused his facial muscles to twitch uncontrollably, but his heat vision continued unabated.
He gritted his teeth, enduring the pain of being shot, and continued to spray heat.
The crimson light shone brightly in the darkness, like two raging fire dragons rampaging through the forest.
Not only were the mercenaries being hired, but the surrounding trees were also being cut in half. One after another, towering trees collapsed, leaving smooth, clean cuts that were then engulfed in flames due to the intense heat, and a sea of fire spread outwards.
The mercenaries fell in rows, their bodies mercilessly pierced and cut in half at the waist, their blood splattering in the flames like blooming, vibrant red flowers.
"ah!!!"
Screams echoed throughout the forest; the fear of impending death drove all the mercenaries to their final, desperate cries.
"Fuck!"
Victor crouched on the ground, the intense heat above him making him feel as if his head was on fire. The two crimson fire dragons were like the scythe of death, easily reaping one life after another.
He looked up at Logan, his eyes filled with indescribable shock.
He never expected that Logan would awaken a new ability, and such a terrifying one at that, which was far beyond his comprehension!
"roar!!!"
After all the mercenaries fell to the ground, a furious roar suddenly rang out.
In the darkness, X-24's eyes were bloodshot, and its steel claws gleamed coldly as it charged furiously toward Logan.
Logan turned around without hesitation, his gaze fixed on X-24, and the dazzling fire dragon charged towards him without hesitation.
Seeing the fire dragon flying towards him, X-24 clearly sensed a strong danger. The intense heat made him instinctively stop in his tracks, crossing his two steel claws to block in front of him.
brush!
The violent heat vision slammed into the steel claws, unable to penetrate them immediately, but the X-24 was also suppressed by this force and could not move forward an inch.
Logan focused intently, his eyes fixed on the terrifyingly high temperature emanating from his thermal vision.
The silver-white steel claws instantly turned red-hot by the intense heat, and the scalding heat caused X-24's clothes to spontaneously combust without a flame.
"roar!"
The burning pain on his body caused X-24 to erupt with its most primal, bestial roar, like the desperate roar of a burning fireman. Its crimson claws finally gave way and it was thrown back heavily.
The heat vision, like a spear, pierced straight through X-24's abdomen, leaving a gaping hole as thick as a bowl, from which blood dripped continuously.
Peng!
X-24 crashed to the ground, but did not die immediately. His healing factor sustained his last bit of physical vitality as he rolled on the ground in agony, extinguishing the flames around him and groaning in pain.
Whoosh!
As the red light faded, a gentle night breeze swept through, dispelling the oppressive heat. The air was thick with the stench of blood, and a flock of crows, drawn by the scent, flew in and circled high in the sky.
The body parts on the ground were steaming, and bloodstains covered the entire woodland. As far as the eye could see, it was a gruesome and disgusting sight.
At this moment, Dr. Rice had lost all his arrogance. He curled up on the ground with his hands covering his head, and the bits of flesh and blood on the mercenary's body completely stained his white coat red.
The fear in his heart made him tremble uncontrollably. His eyes were fixed on Logan striding towards him, and he was so frightened that he almost fainted. The shadow of death magnified infinitely in his mind.
Logan walked up to Rice, reached out without hesitation, grabbed his collar, and lifted him up heavily, his cold gaze fixed on him.
To his surprise, Dr. Rice did not beg for mercy. Although the fear of death made his body tremble uncontrollably, he still stared at Logan with a tough expression.
"You demon, you're nothing but an uncivilized beast! Rest assured, you'll go to hell. Satan himself will come to take your life. I'll be waiting for you in hell, with Satan, waiting for your arrival. I'll devour you piece by piece in hell!"
He spoke to Logan almost frantically, as if he had transformed from a biologist into a theologian devoted to the devil, uttering the most vicious curses upon Logan with his words.
Logan knew very well why the other party hated him so much. Back when Wolverine was in the X-Labs, he killed Rice's father. From then on, he was filled with hatred for himself and even for all mutants. Even when facing death, he would never beg for mercy from his father's killer.
If this guy weren't an enemy, Logan would actually admire his courage. A seemingly frail biologist, even on his deathbed, could unleash a courage that ordinary people couldn't match.
But despite his admiration, Logan wouldn't let him off the hook, not only because the guy was hunting him down, but also because of the innocent mutants and test subjects.
This guy has too much innocent blood on his hands.
Logan clenched his fist and pressed it against Rice's chest, directly against his heart, listening to his trembling curses, and coldly sneered, "Go reunite with your incompetent father, you even more incompetent wretch!"
As the sound faded, the steel claws extended.
Click.
The sharp claws pierced his heart in an instant, running through his entire body, and blood spurted out.
Logan threw him down, and Rice died amidst agonizing screams.
Laura gripped Logan's trouser leg with one hand, her eyes fixed on Rice's corpse, her gaze filled with ferocity.
Logan reached out and hugged her, saying softly, "Let's go, he can't hurt you anymore."
Laura nodded and reached out to grasp Logan's fingers.
Seeing the heartwarming scene amidst the sea of blood, Victor couldn't help but laugh and say, "You two really have a deep father-daughter bond."
"Cough cough cough..."
They had only taken a few steps when a coughing sound suddenly came from behind them.
The group turned their heads and saw X-24 lying on the ground.
He lay on the ground, his skin charred black by the flames, blood flowing continuously from a deep wound the size of a bowl in his abdomen, his self-healing factor keeping him alive until his last breath.
Logan walked over and looked down at him.
That face, exactly like his own when he was young, always made him feel like he was looking in a mirror across time, except that there was no humanity in the other person's eyes, only the most primal animalistic instincts, like a real wild wolf.
Logan crouched down, his steel claws plunging into the other man's heart, churning it around until the heart was completely wrecked.
Even if he has a self-healing ability, such an injury cannot be healed.
Amidst the splattering blood, X-24's volatile eyes gradually lost their luster and anger, instead showing a sense of relief and comfort.
Logan reached out and gently stroked his face, closed his eyes, sighed, and shook his head, saying, "Poor man."
After saying that, he got up, took Laura's hand, and led Victor to find Charles and Caliban, then got back into the car and continued on their way.
As for the corpses scattered on the ground, Logan believed that by the time others discovered them, they would have already left far behind.
